It is with grave concern we
are contacting you and bringing to your attention several deadly conditions
that are threatening the lives of the university’s staff, students, and guest.
These conditions exist with Hendricks Hall. We recently walked through and
around Hendricks Hall and was horrified by its deadly nature. It is literally a
fire trap of death in its current condition.
In a brief summary we must cover the major concerns to
get attention to dangers at hand. We have limited amount of exits and no sound
exit for the disabled. The disabled are expected to use an elevator. Using an
elevator during a fire is taught against in every sound fire safety program and
is common sense. The AC system runs on the floor and presents a tripping hazard
besides just a great way to feed fresh air to open flames. The sprinkler system
is limited to the stage area. The is no sprinklers in the seating areas and the
one system in the stage area would quickly flood steps making a slip, trip, and
fall hazard. There are paper emergency exits which has no dependability. And
last major concern we have fire extinguishers are not being properly serviced.

Worst Case Scenario for Hendricks Hall Involving
a Fire
For effective decision-making worst-case
scenarios are the important part of the prediction as well as planning that is
necessary. Thinking involves in the worst-case scenario identifying the
possible event of worst cases as well as to prepare the implementing actions
for those events. As we take the case that is happened in the Hendricks Hall
while the hall is under construction. There is a case of fire that is happened
because of the careless behavior of the worker that works at the Hendricks
Hall. As in the room there is the drum of petrol which is used for generators.
All the workers know about that they are not allowed to go to that room. One of
them is smoking while working unintentionally he drop the cigarette at that
room after some time the room is full of fire all the material burn into fire
as there is petrol the fire spread rapidly. The fire fighter reaches there with
no time but they can’t overcome with this worst fire in the hall. This becomes
the worst time for them but they handle this after some time. A lot of people
stuck their but they are rescued them. After that the Hendricks Hall focuses on
the problems and solution of the fire situation as well as also makes sure
about the securities. After that they make precaution in the below section we
give the solution and explain all the points.

Summary of
Identifying known Fire safety Issues with Hendricks Hall
Problems facing Hendricks Hall
vary from minor to major and could lead to great losses up to the ultimate cost
of life these problems are as follows; poor available exits, lack of fire
suppression controls, inadequate heating and cooling ventilation, and slip,
trip, & falls hazards. To be up to peak operating levels the building would
have to remodeled and which would be costly and into the millions however,
there are already wishes to renovate this building according to the UCMO web
site (see Source 4) and making these adjustments may not have a costly impact
as expected. The additions that are in dire need are as follows; rid of the
overhead balconies, the need of installed fire sprinklers throughout the entire
hall, bring up to date all fire extinguishers, have all fire exits clearly
marked in accordance to NFPA standards, have all entry, aisle ways, & exits
handicap accessible, in the main seating area add exits on each side, remove
the current ventilation system out of floor of Hendricks & install a more
modern system that would not be in the ground, fix all housekeeping
shortcomings, ensure all equipment is safe to use, and add illumination
controls to all aisle ways, entrances and exits. These updates would be costly
but, there is already wishes in effect to modify this hall and we could just
piggy back off it and correct these needs. It would help further protect
thousands of lives in the near future. We never hope a fire breaks out in
Hendricks and that is with a heavy heart we must prepare protect our extended
UCM family. (See Source 4)
