Intel
is one of the leading companies in the business of semiconductors and
processors. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Intel has enjoyed the top position
in the industry for a considerable amount of time. Intel has based its core
strength in organization and innovation. The organizational structure in the
company is based on the nature of the business. Intel follows a hierarchy in
the managerial structure of the firm and is divided on the basis of product
type divisional organizational structure. The products are classified according
to their nature and type in the market. Management divides the business into
further operational units based on functional groups, product types and
geographic divisions.
This is done largely to have a diverse
workforce. Intel believes at the heart of innovation is diversity. Different
ideas come in from different backgrounds. The division in managerial structure
allows empowering employees and expressing their talents. Intel is driven by the

innovation and quality. Intel depends a lot on it workforce and the culture at
Intel allows individual growth and is empowering. The employees are at the
heart of decisions and an important stake holder in the company.
Intel
is not only top of the business in manufacturing but also because of the
strategic decisions that the company takes. Intel has been innovative and
continuously been improving their products. It is the strategic strength of
Intel that it has been able to partner with the two big IT giants; Microsoft
and Apple. Intel is a supplier to both the companies and has a partnership with
both of them. Intel provides Microsoft
with processors fine-tuned and refined to needs of the Microsoft operating
system so that the system works perfectly without any problem. Same way it has
been providing different parts to Apple for MAC books that have allowed it to
be positioned as a premium notebook device in the market.
Intel is confident about what they make
considerably the build quality. Due to this reason they have production based
on the principle of economies of scale. With the quality Intel provides this
leaves the competition with a thing margin to operate. Intel has a futuristic
approach and is observant of the market. Many may criticize Intel for not being
efficient when it came to step into mobile phone market but strategic
diversification is the answer of Intel. The acquisition of Mobil eye is the
example of strategic diversification.
Intel
had been working on the technology for autonomous driving but lacked the
expertise and leadership required. It was Mobil eye that was filling the gap
and Intel was smart enough to recognize. Together both the companies under the
banner of Intel have a global presence with a clear vision. Intel has been
taking Tesla head on with its technology and support for AI. Strategic
partnerships are key to the innovation and Intel has been right in doing so
which has benefited the company in its aim to become diversified and
innovative.
Intel
when the name comes relates with intelligence and brain of the computer systems
due to its expertise in making processors. Processors are in other words brain
of the computer. Intel has stayed relevant all these years due to its vision
and mission i.e being innovative. Innovation is the reason why Intel has
excelled so much and continues to maintain a strong hold in the market. Intel
has manufactured different types of processors and developed the product by
innovating and improving it. Intel has invested in artificial intelligence and
is constantly innovating with the technology. Not only this Intel wants to be
the smart player and adapts according to the industry. Intel didn’t choose between
the two rivals Microsoft and Apple but went with both in partnerships by
becoming adaptive to their needs. Intel survives by being responsive to the
market and adapting accordingly.
Intel
may have lost its charm over the years but it still has best chance to bounce
back and reclaim its position. Apple might be ditching the partnership with
Intel because Intel has not been on game since past few years. Having said that
there is a lot of potential with Intel and it can do well if it focuses on few
things. Intel needs to diversify its
business and it has seen positive impact by acquiring Mobil eye. Intel can
expand in to different industries and create a niche for itself.
Intel
can diversify with other companies for projects that may benefit the company. Intel
needs to step into the mobile development market as they are the hottest IT
products market right now. Intel needs to step in if it wishes to stay relevant
in the long. Lastly Intel needs to make
processors that are more flexible and dual in nature. It means the processors
should come in different variants suiting to the needs of the different market
segment. This will require Intel to work
on their strength that is innovation.
Intel
is a company that focuses on innovation and has been able to create a name for
the organization. Intel is a leading company in manufacturing of the
semiconductors and processors. Diverse workforce and innovating mindset has
made it possible for Intel to be positioned amongst the top in the industry.
Strategic partnerships with Apple and Microsoft are success for Intel. Intel
acquired Mobil eye which shows the futuristic approach of the company. Intel’s
success is accounted to its adaptive and innovative approach.
Intel may have suffered but it still can
manage to become the market leader if it focuses on product diversification,
expanding into the mobile development market and flexible production of its
current processors. Intel should come out and think more than creating
processors that work fine with Microsoft. There is a need for Intel to broaden
its vision and use its core competency to rise to the top of the ladder. Intel
has the skills and expertise required to become the market leader. It needs a
visionary leader that can call the shots for the company.
