of Happiness
This paper aims to provide deep
insights regarding the salespeople and their importance in the organization. In
the article, the movie Pursuit of
Happiness is discussed to analyze sales management. The reportis divided into three sections. The first section of the article described the challenges faced by Chris
Gardner in the movie. In the secondsection,the
analysis of the filmis performed in
detail. In the last parts the risks are identified which Gardner faced in getting
the job. Through this paper, the
importance of sales and sales management can be clearly understood.

of challenges faced by Chris Gardner
In
the movie pursuit of happiness, Chris
Gardner has encountered many problems like financial stress, homelessness,anda lousy
investment. However, some of the critical challenges which Gardner faced are
discussed in detail below:
The Job Interview in Pursuit of Happiness
Gardner
met Jay Twistle while he was selling his scanners. Jay impressed by the skills
of Gardner because he solved the Rubik’s cube in the taxi. Gardnerdeveloped a
good relationship with Jay which paved his way as an intern in Dean Witter
Reynolds as a stockbroker. The first
challenge he faced before the job interview was regarding the parking tickets. He accumulated a lot of parking tickets,and for this,
he got arrested by the police. A night before the meeting he had spent the night in jail. Despite spending the night
in jail, he manages to reach the Dean
Witter Reynolds office. At the meeting he
was wearing shabby clothes and his appearance was not impressive at all. However, Gardner becomes able to impress the interviewers which allowed him to get an
unpaid internship in the organization (Price, 2011).
He
had to compete with other interns to get paid position in the organization.Although
job interview allowed him to become an intern in the organization, it does not end
the challenges for Gardner. His wife did not like
the decision of Gardner working unpaid as an intern
in the company. Finally, his wife left Gardner in the time of financial crises. However, Gardner kept up with the internship and did not lose hope. After passing the test,
he becomes a stockbroker in the organization.
Selling
his Bone Density Scanners of Pursuit of Happiness
Investing
his whole life-saving in bone density
scanners was not the right decision because it leads to severe financial crises. Gardner did not know how he was going to
sell them and while he was figuring out the plan for selling them, his wife left him because of substantial financial crises. If this situation is analyzed critically, then it can be said that the
decision of investing all the lifesaving in bone density scanner was not a
rational decision at all. If Gardner did not sendhim
all saving, then he might not face severe financial crises. If he wants to invest in the bone density scanner
than he should have created the selling plan before purchasing the scanners so
that after buying them he could sell them
in short period(Economist & Kourdi, 2015).
Through
analyzing the situation, it can be said that Gardner did not have a definite selling plan. Gardner did not know how
to sell the scanners efficiently,and that
becomes the reason for his financial crises. His decision of bone of sale density scanners ruined his
personal life;however, he managed to keep up with the situation and
worked hard as an intern in the new organization. His dedication and committed
allowed him to earn a paid position in
the organization. Although Gardner has taken
different wrong decisions, he realizes
his mistake and covered it with hard work
and dedication (Hendry, 2012).

Sales
Pitch of Pursuit of Happiness
When
Gardner was working as an intern in the brokerage firm, he uses the best sales pitches to grab the attention of the
customers. Despite limited work hours he manages to create contact with
different clients. Gardner established various techniques for making sales calls more efficient. Gardner started to
reach high-value clients which shows that
Gardner possesses good selling skills.
For selling the goods,it is essential to reach new customers and to developa strong
relationship with them (Hendry, 2012).
Training
Program for Salespeople of Pursuit of Happiness
Training
the employees is important because if the employees do not have the necessary
selling skills than they cannot sell the product efficiently in the market. In the movie, it can be seen that in
the beginning, Gardner does not possess
good selling skills. He was struggling to sell the scanners to its clients. However, after working as an intern in the organization, he has developed good selling
skills which makes him a successful stockbroker at
the end of the movie. The movie shows the importance of training programs and
how it leads to success.
Overcoming
Objections of Pursuit of Happiness
In
the movie, Gardner has overcome the
challenges through hard work & dedications. The video shows how an individual can overcome its problems. Gardner knows that he has taken the
wrong decision which leads to severe consequences. However, he defeats the obstacles by improving its skills selling and
communication skills. In the movie, it
can be seen that he never allow its problems
to come in its way. He never tells its
colleagues about the issues he was
facing. He only focused on its goals that he wanted to achieve. For achieving
the goals, it is essential to overcome the challenges and focused on the established
goals(Spender, 2014).

The
telemarketing is a way through which
corporations sell their products to the people. Today many organizations around
the world are using telemarketing approach for selling their products. To become a good telemarketer, necessary skills
are required such as persuasive skills or excellent
communication skills. In the movie, it
can be seen that Gardner uses various
telemarketing skills to make his selling calls more effective. He did not use the old techniques for enhancing its sales.
He created contacts with high-value
customers which makes him a successful stockbroker in the end (Hendry, 2012).
Communication

For the organizations making a strong relationship with
clients is highly significant. No corporation can become
successful without buildinga relationship with the customers. When the connectionis established an organization can
better understand the preferences of the customer and can offer better
solutions to them. Through involvement,
customer loyalty can be achieved which is
highly essential for generating profit in
the long run. The communication skills are as crucial
as creating a relationship. Through excellent communication skills, the organization can influence its customers to purchase

sales manager is the individual who leads the whole sales team of the
organization. The sales manager is responsible for providing instructions and
managing the sales of the organization. The sales managers offer training to the sales staff and create a sales plan for the organization. The sales
manager are the key individuals in the
sales management team. Without salesmanagers,the
salesmanager is not possible. In the movie, the importance of a salesmanager is evident who is managing the
sales of the organization. He was the one who recognized the potential of
Gardner and made him the permanent
employee of the corporation.
Risks

There are several risks
which Chris Gardner faced in getting the Job at Dean Witter. Some of the critical risks are

He did not know it withers the corporation is going to accept him as
an intern.
He was competing with
20 interns,and it was a huge risk because
it was not sure whether he wouldbe givena
paid position or not.
His wife was not happy
with his job,butstill, he decides to work as an intern.
He faced various
challenges in becoming a stockbroker like limited work hours.
Importance

The
salespeople have hugesignificance in the corporation because they are the one who is directly linked with revenue generation. If
the sales people are not going to generate sales than it will be impossible for
the organization to earn a significant
amount of profit. The profitability of the organization depends on the sales of the organization. The salespeople create a sales plan, manages the sales and create a strong relationship with the customers. Through the efforts of the
sales people organizations expand and sustain in the long run.
