Calculating the total amount of storage required for the setting up of the irrigation system for the land.

Calculating the design capacity of the irrigation channels to be employed for water movement from the storage point to the land surface with respect to applicable fluid motion equations. 

Calculating the capacity of the machinery that would be needed to achieve the fluent movement of water across the channels in terms of the power requirements, rate of pumping with respect to speed of movement of the water required, as well as the head to be achieved.
