The capacitors have the ability to store the charges, this
is a passive electronic component and plays an important role in the electrical
components. In an electric field, the capacitors are used to store the energy. Moreover,
their use is very much common in various kinds of electric circuits, which are
basically used in different electronic devices. Its original name was condenser.
The range of these capacitors can vary as per their use, like there can be
small capacitors to be used for the resonance circuits, and there can also be
large capacitors, but it is important to remember that regardless of their size
and use, their basic purpose remains the same, which is to store the charge. The
basic capacitor may have two or more than two conductive plates. There are many
major and minor applications of the capacitor in the electrical circuits that
are given below
Charging the fan of Application of Capacitors
Capacitor is present in every fan this is because these
capacitors gives the initial charge to the fan when turn on the power. If these
capacitors are not used in the fans, so you need to use hand power for giving a
starting push.
Turing on of tube light of Application of Capacitors
The capacitor is also used in the tube lights, when you turn
on the light the capacitor is used for the initial charge. If there is no capacitor present in the tube
light so it takes a lot of voltage to turn on the light. When you turn on the
light the voltages transfer to the capacitor and then the capacitor gives the
initial push to the charges present in the tube light (Kaiser, 2012).
Battery holds up of Application of Capacitors
The type of capacitor used for battery hold up is the super
capacitor. These super capacitors are used for holding up the batteries. This
is used when the battery is down to the 9% so the super capacitors acts to hold
the battery at that time that acts as the standby time for the battery (Kularatna,
2014).
Blockage of DC of Application of Capacitors
The capacitors are also used to block the path for the DC
voltage. This system is used where there is no need of the DC current in the
circuit so the capacitors are used to block the path for the DC current and
allows AC current to flow through the circuit (Deshpande, 2012).
Capacitor used to convert from AC to DC of Application of
Capacitors
These capacitors are also used in the conversion of AC to DC
voltages. There are two types of capacitors that are used in the circuit that
are non polar and polar capacitor. The main aim of these capacitors in the
circuit is that they are involve in removing the ripples from the DC voltage
wave, because we need a smooth DC voltage in the output of the circuit so these
capacitors help to make DC wave more smoother (Williams, 2013).
Voltage doubles of Application of Capacitors
The capacitors are also used for doubling the AC voltages,
for using the capacitors as for making the AC voltages double we need to make
capacitor arrangement like that so this arrangement will provide double
voltages at the output of the circuit. (Kularatna, 2014)
Capacitors as a filter of Application of Capacitors
The most important application of the capacitors is they
worked as the filter in the circuit. There are two types of filters the one is
low pass filter and the other one is high pass filter and for making the low
pass filter the capacitor is attached in parallel with the output of the
circuit and for making the high pass filter the capacitor is attached in series
with the output of the circuit (Kularatna, 2014).
Capacitors used for discharge unit of Application of
Capacitors
The capacitors are
used for as the discharge unit in the circuit means that these capacitors are
used to release the charges and this releasing of charge is used as the
triggering or may be as for ignition in the car. In the electric car the
capacitors are used as the initial charge for starting (Kularatna, 2014).
For making simple amplifiers of Application of Capacitors
The amplifiers are made with the help of simple transistors
for smoothing the signal and also for making the output of the amplifier stable
these capacitors are used in the parallel with the circuit (Williams, 2013).
The Snubber capacitor of Application of Capacitors
The capacitors are used to limit the high voltage from the
inductive loads. These capacitors have the ability to restrict the high
voltages from passing through the circuit when inductive loads are used so
these capacitors hold the whole charge itself (Kularatna, 2014).
Capacitors as oscillator of Application of Capacitors
The capacitor is also used for making spring like
oscillators. The capacitors are used in that circuit like a oscillator. You
just need to set the resistance value and attach the capacitor for making
oscillatory frequency (Kaiser, 2012).
Capacitors used for power factor correction of Application
of Capacitors
The capacitors are also used for correct the power factor in
the electrical distribution system. The power factor correction is a very
important task in any electrical systems. The power factor value must be near
to whole number one. For power factor correction the capacitors are attached as
the three phase load in the electric circuit (Deshpande, 2012).
Capacitors as the energy storage of Application of
Capacitors
The capacitors are used for storing the charge they have the
ability to store the electric charge when it is connected to the charging
circuit, means that the capacitor may acts as the temporary battery. In the car
the capacitors are used to store the electric charge in the audio system when
you need to turn on the amplifier the stored charge used for the initial push (Kularatna,
2014).
The capacitors are also used in many power electronic
circuits that are used for converting from AC to DC, DC to AC, DC to DC and
also for AC to AC circuits.
Conclusion of Application of Capacitors
It can be concluded that capacitors have a major role in the
field of electrical engineering as they are able to perform so many important
electrical functions for various kinds of electrical devices. The energy
storage ability is not the only function they perform; rather they are very
useful to power on the tube lights, and fans. Moreover, when it is needed to block
DC voltage or convert AC voltage to DC voltage, they are critical for these
functions. They are also beneficial in making amplifiers; discharging units,
power factor correction, as well as they is used as oscillators. All of these
functions are important functions in the field of electrical engineering.
