Question 2 (2 Points)

Please describe briefly A) the population being sampled, B) the topic(s) covered by your data, and C) how the data were collected.

A) 17 years old adolescent of both male and female.

B) This research aimed to study the link between gender, physical activity and violence related behaviour among 17 years old adolescent.

C) Survey has been developed with 3 items related to demo graphical data, 6 items for exploring the physical activity and 11 items asking about the violence related behavior. Autonomy of the participant has been identified in the survey with clear instructions. Average of 45 minutes duration has been given to each participant to finish the survey.

I think this data set works very well for this project! I am giving you full credit for this assignment, but I do have a few important suggestions to improve the accuracy and clarity of your ideas.  First, in question 2 – the survey is actually administered to all youth in high school (grades 9-12 and ranging in age, typically, from 13-18 years). And the purpose of the YRBSS itself is not to explore the link between these variables, rather, to establish the prevalence/rate of problem behaviors among all youth overall and then within some key demographic subgroups (e.g. among boys, girls). In question 3 – there are nearly 100 variables total and from that it sounds like you’re choosing 3?  (That is find, but I just wanted to be clear)! Can you share with me exactly which violence-related item you’re interested in? And exactly which physical activity item you’re interested in? I’m not positive these are ratio level variables. In question 4 – you will not be able to establish causality (e.g. “impact”) – so you need to change your language on this item here. For example, a more accurately worded research question would be “Do boys experience significantly different rates of violence in comparison to girls?” Your hypotheses are not quite clear – can you put these into words so I can better understand what you’re trying to say here?
