The main objective of this report is to determine the amount
of vitamin C in natural source as well as synthetic sources. In this lab report Iodimetric titration is
used that also include the redox reaction.
In the lab report, by first standardizing sodium thiosulfate
this experiment was carried out as well as 0.01M KIO3 solution is then
prepared. By the sodium thiosulfate solution the KIO3, KI, along with H2SO4
were titrated to find the data of standardization of NaS2O3 solution. Determine
the vitamin C quantity or amount titrate the solution. By titrating it with
triiodide solution it is possible to determine the ascorbic acid or vitamin C.
moreover, triiodide solution could be unstable. With a 500mg vitamin tablet is
used to make aliquot as well as 50.0mL of H2SO4 0.3M. this aliquot is then used
to titrate with sodium thiosulfate.
With iodide instability this alternate procedure
mitigates the problem.
Procedure of Iodimetric Titration of Vitamin C
First we have to prepare the sodium thiosulfate. In 500 mL
of boil water the prepared sodium thiosulfate solid 8.7g is dissolved in it. In
tightly capped bottle the solution was prepared. In 500mL of volumetric flask by weighing 1
KIO3 0.1M is prepared. Titration was performed to standardize the sodium
sulfate solution is prepared. The
titration solution then turned into the pale yellow color. Then further titrate
it three times when it is completely turned into yellow than 2mL starch
indicator is added in it. And record the three value of it (Marie, 2018).

Calculation of Iodimetric Titration of Vitamin C
Conclusion of Iodimetric Titration of Vitamin C
It is concluded that in this experiment, we analyze vitamin
C through titration we wanted to standardize sodium sulphate. In acidic
condition the reaction was carried out due to this we are dealing with the
redox reaction. It is also concluded
that for determine the amount of vitamin C
named as ascorbic acid Iodimetric titration is performed this was also
in the tablet of vitamin C. so with the help of this we determine the value of
Vitamin C.
