In recent years the Competition in the market has increased
up to lot of extent. The organizations today are looking for such ways through
which they can increase their market share and can differentiate themselves
from the rest of the competitors. In simple words the organizations are trying
to generate unique ides from which they can gain competitive edge over their
competitors. The top management of the organization pay significant rule in
generating unique ideas and implementing such strategies which improve the
efficiency and performance of the organization. I have work in a renowned
retail corporation and I have felt that leadership of the organization has key
role in making the organization successful.
The managers in my corporation takes different decisions
which have significant impact on the performance of the employees. I have
witnessed that the changes in the strategy improves the performance of the
employees and ultimately the performance of the organization improves as a
result. Today many institutions/organizations are providing leadership
development programs to develop leadership qualities in the individuals. The
organizations have realized the importance of leadership therefore they want to
develop certain skills ion the individuals which are required in ab effective
leader.
The leadership qualities are necessary because only a leader
can handle the tough situations efficiently. When the corporation implements
change in the organization it faces various issues which an ordinary individual
cannot handle. At the time of change the role of leader is very important
because it not only influence its employees from its charming personality but
also guide and motivate the employees so that they can adopt according to the
changes. The leadership development programs do develop certain skills in
employees however the leadership program cannot provide the experience which a
good leader possess. Therefore one of the main reason behind the failure of
leadership program is the lack of experience of the individual.
Being a leader is not as easy as it seems. The leader have
to evaluate the whole scenario accurately and will have to come up with the
solution that solve the problem completely. The leader not only possess
communication skills but also have the knowledge and expertise regarding to its
respective field. The leadership development programs does not provide much
information and have their own limits. It means that the individuals will
unable to learn various skills which are required for being a good leader.
The institutions and organization that provide leadership
development program would have increase the scope of the development program if
they want to make it successful. They will have to develop variety of skills in
the individual which would allow the individual to become a global leader.
Without increasing the scope of the program it is not possible that the
individual will become leader.
The organizations would have to realize that the programs
are not fulfilling the requirements efficiently and needs significant amount of
improvement. The organization should provide training to the individual from
such individuals who are experts in their respective fields and have
significant amount of experience in such posts where leadership skills are
required.
The organization can mitigate the failure of the leadership
program by focusing on various aspects of the leadership. Along with the
leadership program the organization can hold other training programs and
workshop which will enhance the skills and abilities of the employees. When the
individuals are going to learn various skills they will be able to become good
leader in the future. In my corporation I have realized that in the beginning
the managers who are recently become manager face difficulty in handling the
situations however with the passage of time they develop skills and experience
which not only allow them to work more efficiently but also allow them to
influence their subordinate more efficiently.
It can be said that the experience & skills matters a
lot in becoming a good leader. I have witnessed that become a leader is not an
overnight process. It takes time to develop such skills which makes a person a
good leader. The development program and other training programs can help the
individual to become a leader but it is obvious that it took significant amount
of time.
In an organization
leader is the one that determines the strategy and directs the vision &
mission of the corporation. Therefore it is essential for the corporation to
retain such individual in the organization which have leadership qualities. The
leaders of the corporation motivates its employees which allow organization to
enhance its performance.
The corporation which lacks vision and does not have clear
direction face lots of problems in the long run. Such corporations unable to
generate profit and their market share is also low because their employees are
not motivated. Moreover the corporation is unable to differentiate itself in
the market due to lack of creativity. It means that if organization does not
have such management which has the leadership skills than organization will
unable to generate much profit and in the end organization will not sustain for
longer time period.
In my organization I have witness the transformation of the
organization by the expert management of the corporation. The management has
possessed those skills which are important tom lead the organization.
Describe an experience of resistance to change in your
organization. Based on what we have read this semester, what specific actions
could have been taken to reduce the resistance of change occurring at the
outset.
In the organizations change implementation process play
significant role in increasing its performance and profitability. Usually
change is implemented in the organization when the management of the
organization thinks that the old procedure of practices are unable to meet the
current requirements of the corporation. The organizations that are huge
usually implement change because when the operations of the corporation
increases the traditional method of managing operations no longer supports the
needs of the organization. Implementing change consist of various phases and
various processes are involved in the change implementation. The change leader
play the most important role in the change implementation process.
In
recent years the technological advancements has been occurred rapidly which
allow organization to upgrade their old technologies. The new software,
applications and equipment’s have allowed organizations to improve their
performance even further and indirectly increase the level of competition in
the market. The corporations who does not implement latest technology would
ultimately unable to compete successfully with the competitors and the
corporation might face decrease in its market share. Therefore the
organizations have to adopt according to the latest trends so that it can
sustain in the long run.
In the
change implementation process various problems occur which does not allow
corporation tom implement change accurately. The major issue which the change
leader face is the resistance to change by the employees of the organization.
Even in my organization where I work have experience resistance to change
because it was difficult for the employees to adopt to the latest policies. The
employees of the organization resist to change when they realize that the
change will have negative impact on them and they will unable to handle the
situation.
The change management process takes a lot of time and effort
because leader in the organization have to remove the hurdle of resistance
first. It is important to realize the need for the change before implementing
it. The top management usually decided whether the organization needs change or
not. It is important that the corporation should take decision of changing by
taking the feedback from the employees as well. Through this the corporation
will have more alternatives to choose from for taking the decision. After
taking the decision of change implementation it is important to continuously
discussing the situation with the employees so that employees have clear idea
regarding what is going on in the organization.
It is important that the leader should guide and motivate
the employees regarding the change implementation process so that employees
does not create resistance for change adoption. A good change leader have the
ability to implement the change successfully and in each phase of change
process try to motivate the employees regarding the change. The organizations
today usually train their employees so that they can better adopt themselves
regarding the changes which have been occurred in the organization. When the
employees face issues in the change process then the turnover of the employees
also increase which leads to decrease in the performance of the company.
It is important for the corporation to analyze the situation
and address the issues which the employees are facing in the organization. The
change leader usually guide the employees and provide brief information to the
employees regarding the change so that their issues can be resolved. Providing
training is a good way to resolve the issues of the employees. It is important
that the leader should guide and motivate the employees regarding the change
implementation process so that employees does not create resistance for change
adoption.
In recent years the organization in which I am working have
experience immense growth and due to the growth of the corporation the
corporation decided to implement new policies regarding managing the operations
so that the corporation can improve its efficiency and can reduce cost. Along
with that the corporation decided to upgrade its inventory management software
for cost reduction. Many of the employees start resisting the change because
the employees were not aware regarding the new policies and they thought that
the new policies will have negative impact on their performance &
incentives. However the top management realized that it needs to communicate
with the employees so that they can understand the need for the change
implementation.
The management of our organization hold a meeting in which they
discuss why change is necessary and how it is going to be implemented. After
that the organization provided a complete plain regarding how the change will
be implemented and how employees can successfully adopt themselves regarding to
the new policies. Even the corporation provided training to those employees who
are going to manage the new inventory software. Through the steps the corporation
taken for addressing the employees’ issues allow the corporation to handle the employee
resistance quite efficiently. In short it can be said that the leadership
qualities of our manager allow it to implement the change successfully in the
organization
Motivation factors is also important in the change process
which help the change agent to convert the resistance into acceptance. When the
employees become motivated their performance increases which allow them to
adapt to the situation more efficiently. Motivation factor allow employees to
follow the guidelines given the management to adapt themselves accurately with
the current trends that exist in organization.

Through analyzing the competency questionnaire that I have
filled in the beginning of the semester my 10 most important values include
Friendship, power, self-respect, happiness, family security, Family happiness,
clean, achievement and comfortable life. All of these values are highly
important to me and play significant role in my behavior or the activities that
I perform. These values determine my major strength and weaknesses. Family
security, health & comfortable life are such values which are important for
most of the individuals. The health, security and comfortable life are basic
necessities and everyone wants to achieve these things. Without health and
security no one can live a normal life.
My most important life determine my actions and strengths.
My strength is that I know which things needs to be achieved first. It is
important to focus on the basic necessities first and then those things which
are more important than the basic necessities. I have realized that over the
time some of my preferences have changed which have change some of my most
important values. In the past Achievement and Family happiness were my most
important values but over time those values changed and now those values have
become important which are basic necessities.
My most important values shows that in future i want to
achieve something and want to grow in my career. With higher post I can achieve
authority and power. The higher post in the organization provides higher salary
and incentives through which I can live higher standard of living. With higher
standard of living I can ensure family happiness and health efficiently.
The achievement is among my most important value which shows
that I want to grow n the future and want to improve myself. In the past I did
not have much skills and abilities. When i joined the organization I did not
know much about the market and how organizations perform their daily tasks. But
with the passage of time I have learned a lot of things regarding the business.
In short period of time I have learned different skills which become major
achievement for me. I have realized through self-assessment that I want to
improve my skills which is a sign that achievement among those values which I
cherish the most.
Happiness is also included among my most important values. Happiness
is just like motivation which allow individual to work with enthusiasm and improve
itself over the period of time. An individual who is not happy cannot work
effectively and its performance will decrease with time. Happiness is important
not for removing the level of stress but also for living a healthy life as
well. It has been seen that the people who do not live happy face various
health issues. Therefor I consider
happiness very important and try to keep myself happy so that I can work
efficiently in the organization. Another important value that I consider most
important is the power or authority.
The power and authority has huge significance in one life.
In the organization the individuals who have authority have the power to
influence their subordinates and give orders. The authority however can be used
positively and negatively as well. Some individuals use the power for good and
help the other individuals. Some individuals on the other hand use the power
for negative purpose such as converting things into their own favor etc. It can
be said that power is important for employees so that they can perform their activities
in their own way.
In the past I did not have much skills and abilities. When i
joined the organization I did not know much about the market and how organizations
