Visiting sites is one of the best ways for gaining knowledge
and getting a glimpse of just how actual processes are carried out regardless
of the field related. After all, visual learning is more intriguing and it
helps individuals in raising their interest and realizing just how things are
going to work in the future. Although listening and reading provides knowledge
as well but observation offers a new realm of information and the same can be
said about my experience as well. I have always been curious about visiting
business sites and understanding just what is it like to be in a professional
atmosphere. This curiosity of mine was fulfilled when we were taken to visit
three companies: A. Rifkin Co., Junior Achievement of Nepa Inc, and Mondelez International
Inc PA.
It can
be no doubt said that visiting these companies provided us with the information
that we couldn’t get just from the internet or any other source. We got to
understand the professional operations of different departments and how they
worked together to make the companies stand strong in the market. I got to
realize an important point as well, theoretical concepts are very important
before getting into a specialized field.
The three companies of Sites Self-Reflection
We
visited three business sites for experiencing the diverse atmosphere and it is
important to know a little about the three companies before moving on the
different areas of the companies.
A. Rifkin Co.
The A.
Rifkin Co, is basically a 5th generation international distributor and
family-owned creator of multi-use and security systems of locked fabric bags
along with other related products like courier bags, money bags, and tracking
devices. I later on got to know that the company highly prioritized the
security endurance of their products. There was no tolerance when it came to
the durability of products (Arifkin, 2018).
Junior Achievement of Nepa Inc
Junior
Achievement is actually a non-profit firm or organization that has the aim of
offering practical knowledge about work readiness, financial literacy, and
entrepreneurship to students up to twelfth grade from kindergarten. It is the
aim of the organization to make sure that young people are being educated in the
best way their lives’ quality is being improved. At this organization site, I
would later come to know that all workers are highly devoted to their work and
that is what drives the organization towards success (Juniorachievement,
2018).
Mondelez International Inc PA
Mondelez
International is a firm with the aim to make sure that people are having the
right snacks when they really want. It is the company’s mottos to offer the
healthy snack the one that really fits the situation. At Mondelez
International, I would later come to know the importance of an easy workplace
atmosphere and how it produces efficient outcomes for the organization (Mondelezinternational,
2018).
Leadership and Business Activity Experience
It is common information that knowledge in the form of
education about a certain subject is very important if the person is going to
enter the field of that specific subject. However, when I visited the sites of
the above three mentioned companies, I got to experience just how importance it
really is to have a grip over the concepts because there are different
departments such as the financial department where it is more than just a
little necessary to have the knowledge of how portfolio will be developed. There
were some parts in the business processes which I could understand we had
studied about it at the institute and I could now observe its application. I
knew that experience was important but one thing had become quite clear to me
that education was the foundation while experience was the building.
When we
visited the sites, we got to meet not only the managers but also the officials.
In the brief time that we conversed with them, I got to experience an important
aspect and that was the positive nature of the leader. It was the nature that
impressed because employees were able to work up to their fullest because the
leader was constantly worrying about the workers and guiding them throughout
the processes. I got to realize that the careful nature of the leader is very
important in running the company maintaining its success. Leadership means
effectively holding the situation and guiding the members in such a way that
only beneficial outcomes are produced. It only happens if the leader is
collaborating with employees in such a way that their requirements are paid
attention to as well.
Professional Development of Sites Self-Reflection
Although
I have been intrigued by two positions mainly the position of a Leader and the
position of an HR Manager but after visiting the sites, I have developed
interest in the profession of the Quality Manager as well. I have always liked
the position of leader because it is the seat of authority that makes the
individual capable of leading the organization to either success or utter
devastation. A leader has the duty of not only managing the company but taking
the workers under the wing and deriving the best results with their help. If a
leader wants, he can easily motivate the employees and raise the performance
efficiency. The leaders of the companies that we visited all possessed the
required skills for managing the organization and it motivated me quite a lot
with just how good they were.
An HR
Manager is specifically capable of getting the best results from his or her
employees by paying attention to them and guiding them along the path. This
position intrigued me more when we visited the companies because the
coordination among HR Managers and employees was flawless. I can no doubt say
that it was the finest compared to what I had in mind. There was no error or
problem as workers seemed to work happily while the manager was guiding them.
Then
there is the Quality Manger who has the responsibility of the caliber of the
work being produced. Although, this position has not much authority but the
responsibility is quite considerable because the quality of overall work relies
on this manager. This position inspired me because these managers at the
visited companies were highly devoted and dedicated to their duties. Due to
their efforts, organizations were able to move forward.
Forward Thinking of Sites Self-Reflection
I
already have the goals that I wish to achieve in the future in my mind because
I don’t want to stay behind and watch my opportunities slipping away. As for
the employment, it is indeed true that I have yet to secure it but I have the
position of HR Manager in mind that I wish to pursue for my future goals. For
the employers that I have chosen, I can say that Operational Manager at Amazon,
HR Manager at Walmart, Quality Manager at Apple, Task Manager at Intel, and
Manager at Samsung are included. In order to be professional, I will no doubt
need not only education but also experience. To gain experience, I will
volunteer in short and long both activities at the institute. Additionally, I
will volunteer to work companies without a cost for a specific time-period as
it will help me in improving my skills for the future and utilizing them to
product efficient outcomes.
