The life is a challenge that everyone has to take and no one
can run away from this challenge if he/she wants to achieve something special
in life. This is my personal experience of my life so for that challenges do
come in your life and you have to face those challenges with brave heart to
carve out a better future. If you are not able to handle such challenges in
your life, then it is less likely that you will achieve something big in your
life. You never know that how life can be cruel sometimes or when things will
take a turn to surprise you. So, everyone should prepare himself for the roller
coaster ride of life.
When I remind my childhood memories, I remember that I
always wanted to be an athlete. I always wanted to be a sportsman who makes his
mark in any field of sports especially in soccer field. In my school days, I
always participated in all sporting events of school and made sure that I am
part of my school soccer team. I had very good attacking skills so I always
played as an attacker. I had a goal in my life that when I will join my
college, then I will play in my college’s soccer team. I had a dream to see my
college team winning NCAA Division - Men's Soccer Championship. It is an
intercollegiate soccer tournament held in America with the help of National
Collegiate Athletic Association. I think it is dream tournament for any college
soccer team to win.
In last year of my school, when I was excited to complete my
school education and join my college studies; an incident changed the whole
face off my life. I was dreaming to join college and play soccer from my
college team, and be a champion to help them in winning the College Cup on
national level. But during my summer holidays, I was laying on the hospital bed
with broken leg. The incident happened on daisy morning, when I was out in the
street to visit a nearby market. From a short distance, I saw that a child was
playing in the street with his football and he was not aware of his
surroundings. Then I noticed that a speedy truck was approaching and it could
hit the child and take his life away. It was the moment, when I have to take a
quick decision to save child’s life; I ran towards him, picked him up with my
arms and threw him away from the road.
Luckily I succeeded in saving the child’s life, but I could
not save myself from that speedy truck, which struck me with some force and threw
me few feet. I was crying in anguish and feeling great pain in my left leg. Few
moments later, I was fainted, and when I opened my eyes, I was lying on the
hospital bed. I was told that my left leg was broken after that incident, and I
was brought to hospital for my leg operation, and now I opened my eyes after 12
hours after the operation. My parents were sitting beside my bed, when I
started talking to them:
I said, “Hey Mom & Dad, what has happened to me, why are
we in the hospital?”
My father tried to gave a thin smile and replied, “my dear
son, you saved the child’s life, but broke your left leg. The doctors have done
a successful operation of your leg, and you will be OK very soon”.
I was shocked to hear that my left leg was broken and I
asked, “What doctors have said? When I will be fine and walk normally?”
This time mother replied with tears in her eyes, “Doctor has
said you will be fine very soon, but it can take almost three months for your
leg to be settled again as normal so that you can walk freely”.
The news was shocking for me as I told earlier that I always
wanted to be a champion soccer player, and with this broken leg, my dream was
fainting away. My recovery period was not an easy one, as one of my doctors
said that it may not be possible for me to play soccer again. It was difficult
to hear this fact, but I was determined in my mind that I will not shy away
from this challenge, and I will do whatever I can to stand firm on my feet
again and play soccer. It was a hard challenge to face as I never felt
comfortable after that leg operation. However, after three months of recovery,
I joined a local gym, where I found a great trainer. I shared my story with
him, and he encouraged me that I can be fit again to play soccer. He really
helped me in those challenging days. Soon, I was able to start practicing
soccer again; meanwhile I completed my school education and joined my first
college.
With my ultimate passion, determination and ability to fight
with challenges, I was able to play soccer in my college team. In the first
year, I could not qualify for my official college team to play Intercollegiate Men's
Soccer Championship. But I never gave up and kept working as hard as I could. My
handwork paid off and in second year of my college, I was selected in the
college team as captain, and we qualified to play NCAA Division - Men's Soccer
Championship. I remember the day when played the final of College Cup and I did
Hat-trick of goals to help my college team to win the tournament for the first
time ever. It was so emotional moment for me as once doctor said that I might
not be able to play soccer again, and now I had helped my college team to win
national level tournament. I was awarded with scholarship and prize money from
my college for achieving this great feat. It shows that life do throw some unbelievable
challenges to you, but you have to stay firm in your belief and fight with iron
hands to defeat those challenges.
I remember the moment when my father hugged me and said, “I
am proud of you son. You achieved the unbelievable thing. We doubted that you
will ever able to play soccer, but you proved everyone wrong, and showed the
way to other young mates that if you have the will power and determination,
then you can achieve anything”.
I replied, “It was not possible without yours and mom’s
support. You always encouraged me and helped me to get out of that incident. You
gave me the courage to fight with this challenge and achieve my ultimate
dream”.
Moral of the Story:
Challenges
and issues cannot defeat a person, who accepts the challenge and never gives
up. One cannot escape challenges, so it’s better to face them with open arms.
