Essay on Education

Category: Education Paper Type: Essay Writing Reference: APA Words: 1300

Education is the basic right of each child. In present times the illiteracy rate in the world is increasing because of the lack of attention towards the educational system. A huge population of the world is unable to provide formal education to their children. The poor people are even unable to afford bread and butter for their families in such a situation how they can afford tuition fees, and other charges of the educational institute. Therefore the best idea for literacy rate in the world is to make the educational process free of cost for everyone.

Free education for everyone without any type of discrimination can not only increase the literacy and awareness rate in the world but also provide skillful and trained people to the society that perform their active role in the overall development. The science and technology get advances and the human being gets facilities. In their life when the education becomes common in the society because education directly works to stable the economic condition of the country. Thus all these claim that education should be free for everyone.

Education should be free for everyone

Claims of support for Education

The education is the basic need of the society to make the people independent. People who depend upon others to meet their expenses are no more desired in the society. Society wants people who can work independently for the betterment of the society (Teaching-jobs.org, 2017). Therefore by making the educational process, we can increase the ratio of independent and working people in the society with the idea that they will definitely pay back to the society by contributing in the progress of the society.

Poor people cannot afford the expense of the education therefore free education will enable them to provide education to their children. The poverty in the world is rising with the time. People are working day and night to cover their expense but still failed to fulfill their dream to educate their children (Buchanan, 2016). Many children of the poor families are more intelligent than the students who are going to schools. Such intelligent children can change the fortune of the whole nation if the opportunity is given to them.

There are a number of examples available in the history when poor children turned the fortune of the whole nation by their invention. Larry Ellison the founder of Oracle (software development company), J.K Rowling (writer of harry potter) and Steve jobs were from the poor families but they got success by working hard day and night (Khalid, 2017). In my views by facilitating such talented people with education in their childhood society could promote their skills.

The education should be free for everyone as the educational institutes educate the people social norms and moral values. In the countries, where the illiteracy rate is high, the crime rate is very low. Education is the best way to eradicate negative thoughts of the people. Education provides the children knowledge, about how they have to behave in the society. Basically education a major source of translating the desires and requirements  (Buchanan, 2016). Through education, societies transform their culture into the next generation. Therefore the free education system will support the society to make the people aware of its culture, social and moral norms.

Counterclaim of Education

Saying that education should be free for all is not enough. There are some limitations that play the role of counterclaims against the claim of education should be free for everyone. The education process cannot be made free of cost as the fees and charges paid in the educational institutes are the major source of income for the owners of the educational institute. They cover the expense of the whole institute including electricity charges, building, and furniture maintenance expenses, administration and teaching staff salaries, pays for janitorial staff, taxes and other expense with the fees and charges collected from the students. Thus free education will make them unable to meet their expense.

Most of the educational institutes are profit making organizations. Owners are running the schools, colleges and other private educational centers to earn the profit (Khalid, 2017). No fees mean no profit for them. Thus the free educational system will encourage the owners to invest in some other business that will generate profit for them rather than running a non-profit educational institute. Thus free education will shut down a huge number of educational institutes and it will become difficult for the government to provide new institutes in the replacement of the private educational institutes.

Other than all that free education will also generate a negative impact on the students. The free educational system will decrease the efforts and motivation of the students. It is the nature of the human being that they do not care about the things that they get easily (Wilkinson, 2017). Poor students work hard with full motivation to earn scholarships in the schools and colleges to fulfill their expenses. The free educational system will decrease their motivation and hard working towards the learning. The fine example of this is students of the United States. They are considering their educational institute like chores.

Rebuttal of Education

The claims and arguments in the favor of education should be free for everyone are more solid and authentic in comparison to the counterclaims. The education should be free of cost for everyone because it is the right of every human being to get the education. The counterclaims for the claim are all related to the monitory benefits. Even meeting the expense of the education will be difficult for the educational institutes but it will not generates the social problems in the society.

The expense of the government to control the educational system will be definitely less than the expense the government face because of the unemployed people in the society. Education will increase the chances of employment and better professional career. Education opens the doors for the bright future of the nation therefore only considering that the free education will increase the expense of the government is not a good idea. The profit the country will earn from the educated people like doctors, teachers, and scientists are many times more than what the government will spend on them in providing them free education.

Conclusion of Education

Thus through all arguments, claims, and counterclaims it is proved that the educational system should be free for everyone. Every child should be given the opportunity to go to the schools and be a good citizen in the future. Only good citizens can work for the welfare of the society and the free education will provide the children the opportunity to do something in return for their country. Decrease in the motivation level because of the free education is a matter of fact that can be controlled through developing competition in the students or providing rewards to the best performing students.
