It
is necessary to have strong communication skills while conducting work in this
modern era. Communication skills will directly influence the performance of the
task. E-mail is considered a professional way to communicate with expert
bodies, but unfortunately, it is a dilemma of the world that people are
considering the E-mail just like a visit to foreign countries, and same
situation happened that you feel stranger here. Same as that the concept of
E-mail is being died due to the overuse of social sites such as Facebook, Twitter,
WhatsApp and another source of communication. Most probably, there are chances
to vanish the concept of e-mail as digital communication takes place in the
world. Here it is considered that people preferred to use the E-mail when they
were engaged in working on desktop for whole day. Now the age of mobility,
people use smart methods to communicate which is finishing the concept of
E-mail. This essay aims to understand properly how and why the use of e-mail is
no longer prevail in the newest workforce named with Generation Z.
An
article made by John Brandon titled “It's 2018 and Email is Already Dead. Here's Who Zapped It Into
Extinction” has explained how the next generation is
born with technology innovation, which leads them to a surrounding that is generated
with mobile phones. People do not prefer to go on their desktop and check the
E-mail. Therefore, it is being banished from society. People find it easy to
use social sites to hang out with other people because they get easy approach
to these devices as compared to desktop e-mail. Moreover, Brandon has also
mentioned that the last era was very keen on the use of E-mail; people would
not imagine working without E-mail in the offices. That was the age of the
E-mail, but now smartphones and social sites reduce the use of E-mail due to
the complexity of the usage. The E-mail is not a simple way to communicate as
it has different parts of the message such as introduction, subject, body, and
salutations, etc. employees consider it waste of time to communicate through
the E-mail as when you start to communicate through E-mail, people send you
lengthy and complex mails which are a big reason of time-wasting. Therefore
people avoid using E-mail as transferring media. In addition to this, Brandon
has defined how E-mail is actually not an outdated media to communicate with
the people but seems a complex and difficult method to convey your message.
Therefore it is shifted with smartphones using media in the new generation.
Mobile phones are being more demanding to convey the message due to
user-friendly features and mobility. In the field of political state, the data
is collected by the leaders on their smartphones. They even get connected to
their people with just phone calls. They also eliminate the version of the
E-mail from the communication medium. The people who are being affected by the
death of the E-mails are the people who are doing business in E-mail market who
are working still on the effort that young generation should use E-mail to
communicate in professional field. As they know very well that a young guy will
give his time to other activities of his likes and choice, he will not spend
his time on sending and reading lengthy E-mails (Brandon).
Another article titled “As Workplace Communication Evolves,
Email May Not Prevail,” written by Adam Rogers proposed that
it all is happening because young generation is not well aware of the importance
of the E-mail. In past two decades, E-mail has been one of the leading forces
of the business to communicate between professionals. They even can’t think of
working without E-mail. But despite all these important people do not paying
attention to save the factor which is going t0o end with the era. It is just
because the generation z transfer their all work to the smartphones and social
sites. Approximately, there are 95% teenagers using social sites and actively
present on regular basis. Adding this, Rogers has also predicted that if all
these are going to happen all these events, it more likely happens that the
E-mail will become obsolete, and new generation will recognize it just as a
written paragraph. They will not even consider it as a message. They will treat
it as a just paragraph to read and ignore it. At the initial stage, the E-mail
inbox gets full in days, and the user gets frustrated to read it again and
again due to which the real meaning of the message vanished. In professional
use, the carbon copies and attachments make files lengthy and useless. Due to
these reasons, the young generation keeps on using social sites as compared to E-mail.
Furthermore,
Rogers has also added the data where the newest
generation enters the workforce named with Generation Z, which outnumbers even
millennials—evidently prefers to use social media, direct messaging, and also
texting to emails. In reality, a 2012 Pew study initiated that, while 95% of
youth had a lively online attendance and 81% frequently used social media. Thus,
only 6% of them communicate through emails (Rogers).
If both articles are compared, then it can be said that the articles
have explained that it is a big dilemma of our society that E-mail is being
vanished from the process of communication, but people, especially young
generation is not paying attention to that issue. Even young generation is not
considering it an important point to think that E-mail is dying and after few
years it will be only in memories. However, e-mail might turn out to become out of date one day, and the
communication among the workforce would have to adjust with the shifting of the
workforce itself. Regardless of how appealing story was, e-mail is no longer an
effective collaboration tool to be considered by Generation Z. In addition to
this, the progressively outsourced workforce globally has been shedding on its
various vulnerabilities. John Brandon in the article has assumed that
email has already dead, whereas Adam Rogers, in his article has mentioned that
email might still not prevail. Therefore, the best approach to save the E-mail
is to prepare the perfect implementation is to access the whole organization design
in a way that the employee could get easy access to the E-mail. There should be automatic software, which
makes it easy to handle the E-mails in busy routine. The user of the different media
could also use these measures. If you don’t do these measures, let be prepared
to see the world without E-mail that seems much horrible.
