It
is the fact that sometimes we could feel bore in reading our textbooks or
writing up our academic tasks. However, one thing that we all have to note here
is that, reading and writing are the most efficient way to sharpen up our brains (Kornblatt,
2008).
There
are many logical reasons to support this opinion. Firstly, reading will
definitely improve our knowledge of new things that happen in the world,
whether those things are around the economy, politics, social, technology, or
others. With reading, then we will always up-to-date with the latest news in
the world that we should not miss. Secondly, writing is the next step that we
do after reading. It’s where we express our ideas and present our creativity (Harrison,
2014).
At
the time when we supposed to complete our academic tasks, then we definitely
need to read all the source materials we need to put them all together in our
writing. Therefore, we will able to extend our knowledge because we have to
spend our time reading the source materials for our writing. Then, at the
writing stage, we will not only do simple writing. Instead, we have to make
sure that our writing will be appropriate and relevant to the sources that we
have read previously. Thus, this step will require our brains to take out our
knowledge and creativity.
So,
it is fair to say that both reading and writing will require and stimulate our
brain to work and give its response in the contexts of creativity, knowledge,
exploring ideas, analyze, and make a conclusion from what we have read and
write. Hence, reading and writing are, indeed, will sharpen our brains.
