Answer: Not only me, in my opinion,
everyone will feel deceived, tricked, or exploited if any brand or company
predicted a purchasing expectation as what Target does. In fact, if this case
will ever happen to me, then I might also complain to the manager or whoever the
executive in the company is in charge of this matter. The reason is due to privacy is one of the
ethical issues that need to be considered by any company or brand in operating
their business. In fact, in a case like Target which uses Big Data to get the
customers’ information, there are some privacy laws to address record-keeping
and online leaks directly. One of them is California’s Online Protection
Privacy Act which was amended in 2014. This law strictly requires the companies
to provide clear statements regarding the users’ rights to get to know if the
company will use their private information in the future (Myers, 2018).
