There are several support systems for making decisions
in the industry of steel manufacturing which are utilized in different phases
of production.
For instance, Kosimeus as a support system
is utilized in the methodology of fuzzy system which combines a number of
models for facilitating a specific process. The method used in the production
system helps system management in understanding issues associated with
different processes. It is basically used to evaluate the techniques in the
ecological and environmental situation of the production system. The system is also
used to enable the user to get the view of structure of decision making to
concentrate on the main department of the production (P. Cowling, 2003) .
There is also a use of sequencing and
scheduling as a support system for decision making in manufacturing which helps
in deciding how to utilize resources in different processes and when to utilize
them. It is important for utilizing resources in the most optimal manner for
getting positive outcomes and results in manufacturing.
Replan as a support system for making decisions is a
computer-based work which is used to support and grade the number of workers
according to their performance in steel making products. This way, resources
would be utilized in such a way that they could utilize their skills in the
most efficient manner.
Another support system for making decisions in the
production of steel is the plant of NKK which is based on computer knowledge and
relates directly to the efficiency of the production system. SCHEPLAN is also
used to arrange the data with an expert system used in the steel industry. In
the steel industry, it has been the first software utilized for obtaining
arranged data. The main objective of using this support system for making
decisions is to shorten the length of the system which is used for assessing
different processes of production. All the above discussed along with other
system supports of making decisions are used in the manufacturing processes of
the steel industry which could be changed with time according to the decision
of management, which will be beneficial for the company (M. KARATAŞ & Gecili, 2012)
