The very first and most influential figure in
my life has been my mother. Even though I have gotten some qualities from my
father, the majority of these skills have been instilled by my mother. She was
the first woman to become a successful stock broker in the field.
I was quite young when my parents divorced
and one of the most significant issues that we faced was the lack of money. Insufficient
money was something that concerned my mother the most. She spent years just
attempting to manage the money. In my family, my mother would always save money
while my father would always spend. They were quite the opposite in terms of
money personality. However, regardless of the issues and obstacles, my mother
never gave up. Instead of giving up, she got a job as a secretary at Merrill
Lynch.
While my mother was always busy with her
work, my father always ventured into new ideas and tasks and rather than
sticking to those ideas, he pursued them and would get bored of them quickly. He
never pursued a single idea and would venture into new ideas. Meanwhile, my
mother stuck to her job and never spent a large sum of money. She was
significantly influenced by her own family which had a long branch of
entrepreneurs.
She came from a
family of entrepreneurs and that influenced her the most.
After working and
earning money, she began to save her money. She was, indeed, close-fisted but
it didn’t adversely affected her and the decisions taken by her. Instead of it,
it allowed her to save money until her resources were significant enough to
invest her money into something she wanted. She invested in the stock market
and became a stock broker. If the stock market is considered, one might say
that it is a highly male regulated market and is regulated by males. However, a
normal woman might have hesitated to enter the market but my mother did not
hesitate. Rather than hesitating, she invested in the market and eventually,
she achieved what she desired for.
My mother is my
inspiration to never back away from my challenges and always pursue my dreams.
Rather than backing away, my mother proved that if a woman wants, she can
become successful even in markets which are dominated by males and women are
insignificant in those markets. She made me believe that if I really want, I
can be successful regardless of the hurdles and obstacles that I face in my
life.
