Different parts of the world are
facing many extreme and catastrophic weather conditions every now and then. We
use to hear that different parts of the world are at risk of cyclones, tornados
as well as hurricanes. There are many hurricanes around the globe, which have
been devastating killing hundreds of people and destructed buildings. The
billions and billions of dollars have been lost in these hurricanes and
cyclones as they can destruct the whole infrastructure like buildings, streets,
and roads. All of these incidents are happening because the climate of the
planet is changing and global temperature & weather conditions are getting
extreme. It has been observed that recent changes in the climate have been more
rapid than ever before. The emission of greenhouse gases, as well as pollution,
has been damaging to the climate of this planet, and things are getting worse
with the passage of time. It is important for the world to realize that climate
change is real and it is happening right now, as there are so many events and
incidents, which prove the existence of severe climate change, and if
considerable measures will not be taken, then the world may face severe consequences
(Naidoo, 2019).
Undeniable Facts of Climate Change
There are so many facts, which
easily prove that climate change is real and it is happening for decades. The
first prove is pollution, which is produced by humans. According to NASA and
many other scientific organizations, the climate change happening from
pollution is real and coming up with many dangers for the world. Different
scientific organizations have proved through research that climate-changing is
well and truly happening. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey devastated different parts
of the United States, and when its attributions were studies, it proved that
climate change is the reason behind such hurricanes, and if the world will not
look at it seriously, then more hurricanes and cyclones will occur, and they
can be even more devastating. The fact of the matter is that there is no reason
to manipulate facts regarding climate change research, so research studies
conducted in this regard are transparent. Many climate changes related
scientific organizations are working on the basis of pure empirical research to
finding out its impact and scale, and there is no reason to make any bias in
this regard (Environmental Defense Fund, 2019).
The other undeniable fact to
prove the reality of climate change is the fact that scientists working in this
field are not paid at all, or they are being underpaid, which proves that they
are designating their time on a volunteer basis for the betterment of the
world, rather gain any personal benefits. They are dealing with these issues
for the sake of society rather for any personal gains. So, there is no point
for them to lie with the world in this regard. They are making an honest effort
in this field and coming up with research-based findings (Jos Delbeke, 2015). Moreover, these findings and
research-based recommendations are made by the experts and scientists of the
field. They are not written by any politicians or non-experts so there is no
reason for the world to not believe in their findings. They are producing these
reports on the basis of pieces of evidence and any future scenarios are also
based on these empirical findings. These assessments are not made on any
assumptions. All of these facts are proving that the world can no more deny the
reality of climate change so it’s time to accept it and do something to deal
with it accordingly (Environmental Defense Fund, 2019). The world cannot
ignore it anymore, because climate change is going to affect each human being living
on this planet (Emanuel, 2018).
Different Causes of Climate Change
It is a fact that the climate of
this planet has been changing throughout history. The facts have revealed that
during the last period of 650,000 years, the retreat and glacial advances have
come up with 7 cyclones, and these cyclones have come to this modern era of
climate change, where things are happening more quickly than ever before. There
are many causes of climate change and these elements are playing their role in
making a negative effect on the climate of the planet. The global temperature
is rising on an average basis with the passage of time. This rise in global
temperature is happening due to emissions due to pollution caused by humans and
carbon dioxide (Abdelnaser Omran, 2018). The data has shown
that most part of this rise in global temperature has happened in the last
three decades or so. The facts have also shown that 2016 was proved to be the
warmest year at the beginning of this century. This rise in global temperature
is warming the oceans as well, which means that more heat is being produced all
around. The other cause of great climate change is shrinking and melting of ice
glaciers all around the world. The data has revealed that from 1993 till 2016,
the ice lost by Antarctica has been around 127b tons (NASA, 2019).
The other basic cause of climate
change is a glacial retreat, which is happening on a regular basis. Different
glaciers retreating all around the globe and some of the famous ones are in
Africa, Alaska, Rockies, Andes, Himalayas, and the Alps. The satellites around
the world are used for different purposes and their observation has proved that
snow cover all around the world is decreasing on a rapid basis. The rise in the
sea levels is also playing their part in raising the issue of climate change,
and Arctic sea ice is also quickly declining. The extreme changes in weather
all around the world are also happening like some areas are experiencing very
low temperatures, and some other areas are observing extremely high
temperatures. This change in temperature is causing extreme changes in the
climate on a regular basis (NASA, 2019). It is important for the world to know
that climate change is a balancing act, which means how much energy has entered
the system of the planet, and how much energy has left the planet. If energy
coming to the planet is absorbed by the earth, it warms the planet in so many
ways, and if the energy of the sun is reflected rather absorbed, then the
temperature of the earth remains on a balanced level. So, when this balance is
not proper, climate change happens (EPA, 2019).
The Effects of Climate Change and
What to Do
It is also important for the
world to realize that climate change is not only real, but it is having so many
negative effects on the planet earth, and if adequate measures are not taken in
time, then consequences can be even severe. The first effect of climate change
is happening on this planet in the shape of rising temperatures. The planet
earth is becoming warmer with the passage of time. The hotter world is not
going to be good for anyone as rising temperatures can go to unbearable levels
in the future if nothing is done. The world is not only getting hotter, but it
is also getting wetter with the passage of time. The glaciers are melting so
quickly, which means that extra water is coming in seas and sea levels are
rising without any need, and this rise is damaging and disrupting coastal
communities. The extreme weather conditions are happening due to climate change
like oceans are coming up with more hurricanes and many of them have been
extremely devastating. If things will continue like this, then all coastal
areas will be in constant danger to face such destructive hurricanes in the
future. 2016 was proved to be the warmest year and if measurable steps will not
be taken by every human being on this earth, then the world should get ready
for severe consequences (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2019).
It is time for the world to stand
up and do something on an immediate basis, as climate change is real and it is
not a problem to be left in the future that something will be done in the
future. It is time to take quick action all around the globe. The human being
can be a great part of the solution. Humans should realize that pollution
caused by them is killing their climate, which may make this world an
unbearable place to live for our future generations. So, humans should plant
more trees and decrease their carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions. The
world has to look at its energy use and they must decrease their energy use and
should opt for greener environment-friendly options so that world heating is
decreased with the passage of time (The Economist, 2019).
Conclusion of Climate Change
After looking at different facts
and findings as well as pieces of evidence, it is concluded that climate change
is real and it is happening at an alarming level. There are so many research
reports and evidence revealed from authentic scientific that climate change is
the undeniable reality, and if this reality will not be accepted on an
immediate basis, then the world will have to face severe consequences in the
near future. The planet earth is already paying the price and if considerable
measures will not be taken, the consequences will be more severe for every
human being living on this planet earth.
