Analysis Report on Internet of Things (IoT) and the Telegraph

Category: Computer Sciences Paper Type: Report Writing Reference: APA Words: 1500

It is a fact that discussion and attention on IoT are growing and it has been the center of attention in several ways. The concept has grown significantly large in recent times that it cannot be ignored. Therefore, its different elements are being discussed. The importance of IoT is great because it is already impacting the way societies are moving forward in the future and it can come up with a more considerable and beneficial impact as well. It is also changing the way businesses can handle their processes. There is a large amount of technical and complex information associated with IoT but it is important to stick around basics so that concepts can be easily understood. The IoT is expanding at a significant rate because the use of Broadband Internet and smartphones, is growing with each and every passing day. Hence, more and more devices are being connected through the internet. A variety of smart devices are covered by the concept of IoT such as smartphones, washing machines, coffee makers, lamps, headphones, air conditioners, CCTV cameras, as well as vast variety of devices. Gartner firm has revealed that more than 26b devices will be connected till 2020 and this is a huge number. This relationship can work on three levels; between people to people, things to things, and things to people (Morgan)

“One of my most productive days was throwing away 1000 lines of code” (Ken Thompson) (Quotes. cat-v. org).                The number of connected devices till 2020 under the concept of IoT is huge and it means that IoT is going to have a great potential in the future. There could be a time when everything will be working all the time without any interruption or break and this thing may become a reality one day with the help of IoT. IoT is providing a great potential that devices can be connected all the time to automate things and processes. For instance, there might be a coffee maker that you set the time for the coffee maker to make coffee automatically without any instructions. The predefined schedule might be followed by the coffee maker or if a person is traveling to his/her home and wants to have his/her coffee ready, then he/she may be able to instruct the coffee maker with the help of internet to prepare a cup of coffee. That’s the kind of convenience and facility which can be obtained through IoT. Experts believe that the real future and potential of IoT is that things and devices will be connected and working all the time without our knowledge. IoT can be a great concept and if it is properly analyzed and used, it can be transformational in numerous ways  (Price, 2019).

It is a fact that IoT has been important for businesses, especially in their production and manufacturing processes. The machines are generally connected with smart devices such as computers so that any command can be given to those machines and they can perform predefined functions. Thus, if the use of IoT has become common in businesses, there is still potential in the field of IoT in the context of homes and offices. It is a fact that IoT has the potential to transform our homes and offices. People are already obtaining the advantages of IoT with the help of connected devices in homes such as smart speakers as well as smart TVs. The commercial, as well as domestic cameras, are another example of IoT associated with homes and offices. A person can connect a CCTV camera installed at his/her home with his/her smartphone and this camera can be operated from anywhere. The person can move the camera to keep an eye on the surroundings and it can also have a constant check for the security of its house. It is just a single example, which shows how big and useful IoT can be for humans. If these patterns are followed properly and new discoveries are explored with the passage of time, then IoT will transform the lives of humans all around the world  (Ranger, 2018)

Analysis of the Telegraph of Network Programming, Internet of Things (IoT) and the Telegraph

There is no doubt that the world has always felt the need for communication at large scales so that messages and information are transmitted from one place to the other. This need has always forced humans to find ways of communication. People have always looked to have methods or devices which can carry information or news in an efficient and quick manner. This urge of humans resulted in the development of optical telegraph also named as semaphore which was invented by the Europeans. This invention changed the way the world was communicating with each other and this new pattern was just the beginning of a great revolution in this regard. In 1837, the electrical recording telegraph was invented by Samuel F. B. Morse. It is important to know that Morse used the process and pattern of the optical telegraph to come up with an electrical telegraph. This was just the start and a transformation in the field of communication, and since then the world never looked back. This method of communication was used for more than a century and in the meantime, many other researchers tried to improve the level of the electrical telegraph. That is why more types of telegraphs were invented such as wireless telegraphs. The earlier telegraph was transmitting information through wires but a great revolution was its version in a wireless form  (Mitel, n.d.)

It was mentioned earlier that Morse invented the electrical telegraph which provided a great platform for long-distance communication and communication patterns were revolutionized. The telegraph was not the only great invention by Morse because he also did a great work by providing a coding system, which is known as Morse code. This Morse code system was developed with a set of dashes and dots for each English alphabet. This code was helpful in transmitting complex messages by assigning these dashes and dots to English letters. Using these codes, the first message by Morse was sent in 1844, which was initiated from Washington, D.C. and its final destination was Baltimore, Maryland. This pattern of the telegraph was used for more than a century and then new ways of communication were invented such as fax machines and the telephone. This revolutionary work of communication finally reached the invention of the internet, which is the most advanced and great method of communication. The advantage of the electric telegraph was its ability to transform the way wars were fought as well as how news industry such as newspapers worked. This one great invention was wonderful in so many ways and played a great role, which ultimately has helped the world to reach the technology of internet (HISTORY.COM EDITORS, 2009).

“So much complexity in software comes from trying to make one thing do two things” (Ryan Singer) (Quotes. cat-v. org).

Conclusion of Network Programming, Internet of Things (IoT) and the Telegraph

It can be concluded in the end that there are many technologies and concepts, which played their part in transforming the way the world was communicating, and the way the world is communicating right now. The journey began from the telegraph, which was the beginning of the communication revolution. The electric telegraph helped people to send and receive messages in a long distance. Then the world was able to develop new patterns, and new technologies and devices were invented. Every technology and device played its role in transforming the communication patterns, which ultimately reached the technology of the internet. The internet allowed so many things and tasks such as network programming, and a new concept of the Internet of Things was introduced which is now growing big.
