Introduction of The Progress of Female Politicians in Advancing the Women’s Equality
It is a fact that the role of women is crucial in every
sphere of life. So, the field of politics should also consider the inclusion of
women as much as possible, so that female politician is encouraged to
participate in politics. It is believed that female politicians can play a big
part in the quality and rights of women if they participate in politics with
great determination and interest. There should be someone to raise the voice of
women so that their concerns are heard and dealt with accordingly. Politics is
a great platform for women to make sure that their voice is loud enough to
reach the ears of stakeholders and policymakers across the world. But the fact
of the matter is that women have not made any substantial progress in the field
of politics. Their participation is very less as compared to men, so their
voice is not heard (Bowens, 2016). In this paper, the basic point of discussion
is to establish the fact and find its relevant details that “Governments led by female politicians have
not made significant progress in advancing women’s equality in the developing
world. Rather, women’s access to political decision-making in developing
countries has accomplished little in terms of improving women’s economic,
social, and political demands.”
It is obvious to think that when women are represented
by women for their issues like rights and equality, the outcome would be better
in so many ways. But an interesting fact is that in the field of politics, the
female politicians have not made a mark, which was expected from them. The role
of women is crucial because they are not a small section of society. Almost
half of the world population consists of women, which shows the importance of
women all around the world (The World Bank, 2019). If such a huge section of
society will be deprived of its basic
rights, and they are not given equality in different matters of life. Then
things can be extremely complex. Politics is a critical field for people to get
power and change things by themselves, rather than just asking for it all the
time. This is what female politicians can do, and that’s why women's
participation in politics is so crucial. The women can come to power through
politics and make laws, which give protection, as well as opportunities to
women so that they can also become an equal part of society as men. It is
certainly a long and ongoing struggle, and it is more likely to continue in
this fashion because female politicians have not been as good as they were
thought to be.
