Health and wellness
are two things that cannot be separated from human’s life. Health defined as
not only the nonexistence of illness or sickness, instead, health defined as a
condition of total mental, physical, as well as social wellbeing. In the
other hand, wellness has described further as the performance or activities which
a person does to complete the definition of health itself. However, the
description of health takes beyond 'the absence of
disease'. “The World Health Organization” even uses
a more extensive description with mentioned health also means how the people
could able to managing a critical disease effectively to reduce the recurrences
along with all the complications. Healthy people are the people who able
to use any kind of resources available for them to survive in their lives based
on their conditions (Edlin & Golanty, 2015).
Along with the growth
of technology and globalization in almost every part of human’s lifestyle, health
and wellness seemed to get the influenced as well. The modern lifestyle has
changed the wellness of people which some of them could give serious health
risks which they might never even thought about it. In this paper, I will
discuss three examples from this case:
Sugar and cancer risk
Tanning beds and skin cancer
DASH diet and cardiovascular disease
The
purpose of this discussion is to make people aware of their wellness might able
to put the, in some serious health risks and what kind of action we can do to
prevent our wellness from becoming health risks.
Sugar and cancer risk health
There is a number of
puzzling information and suggestion about sugar out there. But what is exactly
the connection between sugar and cancer? Could sugar really trigger cancer? If
it does, then how is the method?
Some researchers have
explained that sugar intake does not increase the risk of cancer. As the
opposite, it is the risk of cancer which might be linked to how your own body
reacts to sugar. If you consume foods which rich of sugar (especially if you
are one of the people which are insulin-resistant), then there is a bigger
spike will be in your blood sugars. Next, the spikes will make an expansion release
of insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which known as the supporter for the development
of cancer. If the levels of blood sugar or glucose could be more managed, then
the release of IGF will be decreased, and the result, it will decrease the
development of cancer in your body (Goran, Tappy, & Lê, 2014).
Tanning
beds and skin cancer, Health and Wellness
A tan condition, from no matter
how you get it, on the beach, on a bed, or by accidental contact, is indeed,
not good for your skin. Tans are a condition which caused by destructive ultraviolet
(UV) radiation created by the sun or maybe tanning lights will able to continued
skin cell to be damaged. And the one which is a trend is a tanning bed. Well,
based on the survey, people who first try to use a tanning bed
before reach the age of 35 has proven to increase their risk to get melanoma or
skin cancer by 75 percent. Melanoma is considered as the first most
usual and common type of cancer which attack young adults between 25-29 years
old and the second most common type of cancer which attack young generations
between 15-29 years old. Melanoma also has been responsible for the top cause
of death because of cancer in women with the ages between 25-30 years old and
the second place as the cause of death because of cancer in women between 30-35
years old. Well then, try to avoid tanning bed, tanning light, any kind of
tanning if you want to avoid from getting attack by skin cancer or melanoma (Goldsmith,
2010)

The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension or known as the DASH diet
was created and designed to normalize the blood pressure for the patients which
suffer from hypertension. DASH diet is known to be rich in vegetables, fruits,
low-fat dairy foods, grains, hen, fish, and nuts. It endeavors to reduce the consumption
of saturated fat, red meat, sodium, as well as high sugar which contain inside
the foods. If we compare with normal diets, the DASH diet offers lesser quantities
of total and saturated fat, also dietary cholesterol. Meanwhile, it also provides
better amounts of defensive nutrients mentioned such as
. DASH diet is
also known for its advantage impacts on the levels of blood pressure. In fact, the
DASH diet is recommended by the “American Heart Association” for
the non-pharmacological administration of hypertension which also known as one

on Health and Wellness
The health and wellness will
always be united and cannot be separated since wellness will give the result on
our health condition. To maintain our health, the first thing that we have to
do definitely, we have to maintain our wellness and try to avoid from the
activities which able to trigger a number of serious health risks for our body.
Even though, we might have to sacrifice a number of our habit and also our
lifestyle. For example, we need to reduce the consumption of sugar from out
food in order to reduce the risk to get cancer from the levels of sugar or
glucose in our blood. Or also we have to forget the lifestyle on tanning our
skin even it might be a trend if we want to reduce the risk of our skin to get
attacked by skin cancer as well. Instead of risking your health, try to think
