Corporate Entrepreneurship
Five
specific factors that played a key role in supporting Corporate
Entrepreneurship mentioned by Donald
F. Kuratko, Jeffrey S. Hornsby, and Jeffrey G. Covin (2014) along with
practical examples are as mentioned below (Kuratko, Hornsby, & Covin,
2014):
Top
Management Support
Top management support has approved to have a
direct prospective interrelation with the innovative results of an organization.
Work
Discretion / Autonomy
Some
studies have mentioned that the entrepreneurial opportunities are frequently
identified well by the entrepreneurs with discretion on how they should give
their best performance, and also by those who inspire to involve in
experimentation.
Rewards /
Reinforcement
The reward systems which motivate innovation
and risk-taking are considered as a sturdy impact on the tendencies of people
to act in entrepreneurial behaviors.
Time
Availability
Time availability is an
essential source in producing entrepreneurial creativity.
Organizational
Boundaries
This context is around the level to which an individual
observes that there are valuable flexible organizational boundaries in
encouraging entrepreneurial activities.
In
the UAE, the government has established the ‘Rewards and Incentives System’
meant for the employees to be followed by all the companies in the UAE. An
example is from the Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd (GASCO) which has established
the company’s policy to give equal and competitive salary to all of its employees,
and also some rewards that based on the employee’s performance, his or her
basic salary, and also their skill knowledge as well (Ramakrishnan,
2017).
However,
the companies in the UAE seem to ignore providing top management support for
the employees. An example has presented from how the lack of management support
in the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA). For this, the
organizational management needs to provide support since it has been considered
as an important factor that impacts the employees’ retention in the company (Al-Hummadi,
2013).
