Introduction
of Making Tobacco Products Illegal
Tobacco bans are not new disputes in
the world. In fact, the bans of tobacco are enacted as an effort to protect
people from getting affected by various serious diseases such as cancer, heart
disease, emphysema, and so on. Many countries across the world have introduced
the laws that implement the bans of tobacco on the indoor environment. Lots of
legislators have also been citing some scientific evidence to present how
smoking tobacco will really harmful for both its direct smokers and also those
people who inhale or named with second-hand smokers (Howells).
If we see how tobacco could affect health conditions, then it is fair to be
said that such laws in banning tobacco will able to reduce the cost of health
care. In addition to this, these laws will also able to improve work
productivity, and also lessen the largely labor costs as well. Thus, along with
many disputes, many people also have been arguing that both the production and
sale of tobacco products should be made illegal, with some good motives.
Reasons
to Make Tobacco Illegal
The
first perfect reason to make tobacco products to become illegal is the fact
that smoking tobacco would only give disadvantages to our health condition. As
mentioned above, smoking tobacco could cause cancers, heart disease, and other
chronic diseases. The second reason that needs to be considered to make the
tobacco products illegal is that, tobacco is an extremely addictive thing. The
main chemical ingredient of tobacco is nicotine, which is a poisoned colorless
or might also be in yellowish (C.Willemsen).
Even
though nicotine acts as a stimulant in minor doses, but if it consumed in a big
amount, then it will able to block the movement of the autonomic nerve along
with the emaciated muscle cells. The addiction caused by tobacco described as
how the seasoned smokers are unable to spend only a few hours without smoking,
along with some intense symptoms, even though not as ruthless as the addiction
caused by alcohol or opiates (Benowitz).
Thus, something that could make people get too addicted to it, and unable them
to live without it though it causes many detrimental to health conditions must
be made illegal.
Furthermore,
some of those tobacco smokers often start to smoke when they were still teenagers,
a period when they were desired to get popularity by smoking. These teenagers
see how the famous actors on the screen easily smoking tobacco, and how many
people also smoking tobacco in public place without any restrictions. Nevertheless,
these teenagers easily follow them since they are still immature to figure out
about their future, along with the negative consequences that they might get. Well,
if tobacco products could be made illegal, then there will be no such bad examples
for the teenagers to follow. Another reason also comes from how the mothers who
still smoking tobacco during their pregnancy could cause danger for their
babies. This is really a cruel fact to be considered (privatewriting.com).
To
conclude this statement, and make it clear that tobacco products should be made
illegal, we really have to take a look at the first important fact that tobacco
is detrimental to our health. In addition to this, those teenagers are supposed
to be the next generation. Then, if we will let them in tobacco addiction, then
we can imagine how our future will be. Also, think about the lives of those
babies which get harm due to their smoking mothers.
Nonetheless,
tobacco is extremely unhealthy, it could even kill people, and the nicotine
inside it is highly addictive. Hence, tobacco products along with its sales
should be made illegal so that every one of us will think twice before decides
to smoke this harmful thing.
