Introduction
of Colonization Road
This
paper is about the film that is known as the colonization road. As E. Bekkeman (2008) shows that this movie is
completely based on Canada. This movie is about the first nation and the
government of Canada. For developing a good relationship between them, there were
different agreements created, and the nations were agreed upon, but all in vain,
there were different government members that were taken land away from the
Indians without any compensation. Due to this action, the colonial government
is taking some important action to make happy the native people of the country.
But trying to do so, the government was unable to make it happen.
This
paper will give important information about the government responsible for the
native Canadian people for their issue regarding land.
I
will argue that the government of Canada was not with the Indian people, and
that is the reason why they were unable to provide them with their basic
rights.
For
this paper, there is a proper discussion about the documentary film named as
Colonization road. There a few questions that were taken from the movie will be
answered briefly. In this movie, Ryan McMahon was involved in exploring the
effect of public land. The first main question is related to the dispossession
of the native Canadian people from the country and also with how the number of
agreements were broken. After this, the next question is dealing with the
settlement of the first nation of Canada and the second nation. There are some
reasons that will be given that will give proper information about the reconciliation
of these people in Canada. In the last part, there is comprehensive detail of
how this settlement is possible between these people. There is also some
information from the news that is about the Colonization of native Canadian
people. This issue is extremely important for the Canadian people, and it played
a major role in the history of this country (Bekkeman & Ricklefs,
2008).
The history of indigenous Canadian
From
the past in late 1830, there is the proper settlement of the Canadian region
that was started with high pressure in that country. At that time, there were
some European settlers that were living in that country were enabling some laws
and regulations that were used for managing the population of that country.
Then according to that, they are taking the contract
with other regions. For that case, the
main replacement was considered as the colonial strategy that was introduced
for just managing the local people of Canada. Due to this action from the
European settlers, the indigenous population was affected badly. There were
started to remove native people from the country. The reason is that they
thought these people had become a hurdle for the main economic plan of the
country. Then after this, as time passes, the native people of Canada were
found themselves in huge pressure and also in deep crises.
These people were facing intense destruction.
Then after the arrival of Christopher Columbus, things were getting change and
getting back to normal. Now after this at the end of this century, there are
many people that we're leaving this country. Different studies from the past
showed that if Canada moved towards the west side, then it will be less
violent. Due to this action, the colony would be in quite a trouble (Knud A. Jønsson, 2015).
Moreover, many people from the past also
thought that it was because of the European settlers that are involved in
making huge trouble and putting an end to the Canadian colonization. At that
time, there were a lot of Canadian native people killed by the diseases that
were injected by the European settlers. These people were also using machine
guns and other things to damage the colonies.
Dispossession of the native Canadians
From
the history of this country, it can be noted that the removal of the native
Canadian people from the country is started after the lost harvest of Sarah
Carter in the 1980’s. This has happened after the fifty years of this analysis.
It was not the coincidence that both of these books were written by the two
women that were the granddaughter and daughter of each other.
In their books, there is brief information
about the sense of disjunction that was present between these families. In
their books, there is proper information about the treatment of the native
people of Canada. These people were the main part of the framework but not
known as rhetoric. But according to the information of the 20th
century, the native people of Canada become lowered due to disagreements with
the government. The main reason behind this is that they were the main part of
the history of colonization (Jean-David Moore, 2018).
Due
to this, their part was slowly reaching towards the end of their society from
Canada. At that time, there are also some people that have different beliefs
were living in that country. The government of Canada was not supporting them
because they do not belong to the white stream society. Due to this, these
people become stubborn because they have no other place, and they were also the
first native in that country.
But such action from the government was
extremely harsh. Then after this these people started maintaining a separate identity
because of inappropriate policies by the government officials. The government
was also not giving proper rights to these people. Then after some time, one
member was named Isaiah Berlin. He was not talking about the residential
schools in Canada, but anyhow he was demonstrating the pathology of the
Canadian government in a comprehensive way.
Role of Angie Debo
She had played an important role in
discussing this issue with the government. He had completed her dissertation at
the start of 1930. At that time, there were still a lot of women that were
still studying. Moreover, at that time, there were no single women that were
selected for the position in the university. But in the meanwhile, Debo was
extremely intelligent. After this, she was involved in doing an extensive
research project for the native people of Canada. She was searching for the
role of the Canadian government for the Indian Territory. She showed the
results that their government is showing such a bad impression of corruption.
Through, they are removing a huge amount of Indian natives from their country. Her
work had highlighted the real image of the Canadian government (Jean-David Moore, 2018).
Is reconciliation possible between the
native Canadian and the first native?
This
is one of the huge questions that is explained in the documentary film and also
indifferent news. For that case, there is a need to give a proper explanation
about the reconciliation. There is some consideration that will give proper
information about this term.
This
is one of the most critical and complex terms that will give proper respect to
the native Canadian people. Its main aim is to give proper respect and
attention to their beliefs and cultural values. Moreover, there is a need to
recognize the complete connection with native people that are using this land
and living here for a long time. The government officials of the country must
have to support the identity, culture, and language of these people.
From
the news article, there is comprehensive information given about the reconciliation
of the native Canadian. There was a panel that was discussing this issue in
detail, and then according to that, they had presented that it is possible
because there are people that are arguing about reconciliation. Their government is also ready to remove harm
from the residential schools in that country. They said that if complete rights
were given to all members of the country, then it is possible (Jean-David Moore, 2018).
Conclusion of Colonization Road
Summing
up all the discussion from above, it is concluded that colonization road was an
important movie that was discussing important issues with the Canadian
people. For developing a good
relationship between them, there were different agreements that were created,
and the nations were agreed upon, but all in vain, there were different
government members that were taken land away from the Indians without any
compensation. For this paper, there is a proper discussion about the documentary
