Electricity can be
utilized in many ways such as lightning, heating, cooking, and source of power
for the electrical equipment which are present at home. Nowadays Electricity
facilitates us a lot at our apartments in daily life, with no electricity life become
boring at home as well as at our workplace. We depend so much on electricity
that not a single can be done without electricity. Electricity is a good
conductor of some materials, electricity travel through small and closed
circuits. It is important to spread awareness to prevent electric hazards at
home because electricity is well known as the “silent killer”. The protection of the circuit is necessary to
avoid electrical fire hazards. Electricity is the most powerful and dangerous
energy from all other powers. Most of the accidents related to heat can be
happened just because of carelessness. Electricity hazzaeds in homes can occur
through the old wiring system, arc faults, overload switches, ground faults.
The short circuit in the wiring system cause of fire in the house. The electric
shock to the body only occurs when body comes into connection with electricity
because human body is the good conductor of electricity. The effects of the
electrical shock on the body is hazardous if the shock is intense in time death
may occur. The shock can cause muscle spam; they may cause cardiac arrest, a
shock may burn the organs and tissues; it may affect the nervous system.
We can reduce the harms
of electricity by understanding how electricity works and where it is found.
And by running a campaign to spread awareness. We should follow the safety
rules such as using copper wiring in the house to avoid hazards, do not
overload the breakers to prevent fire hazards, and do not touch applinces or
magnetic material with wet hands and barefooted, especially do not touch the
electric poles in the monsoon season. (Tsado, 2014)
