Introduction of Ethics
Ethics
represent the behavior that is being used by the teachers in teaching the
children and making them a better person. In today’s world we have seen that
every children or student have different demand and everyone is from the
different background as well. Therefore, teacher needs to be efficient so that
she can deal all the students and their different problems at a time.
This
short essay will discuss about the different strategies which every teacher
should use on the students to make them successful.
Ethical rules:
An ethical teacher
is being guided through a set of different kind of beliefs that further lead
towards the actions and the attitudes engrossed into what is best for their
students in all the possible ways. Becoming an ethical person or teacher means
to take up the high roads and then behave in a professional way no matter how
much big the issue comes along with the everyday decision’s making in a class.
Teaching
is a profession about which most of the people think that it is much easy and different
other things, but here everything is completely opposite as teaching requires
motivation, hard work and honesty. One teacher has the duty to teach many
students at a time. No one is a born teacher like other professions, there are
many things which needs to be known and a new teacher learns all such things
with the passage of time, help of colleagues and experience as well.
A
new teacher must know about all the basics of teaching which includes teaching ethics
as well. One should not only know that how to work or how to handle their job
or class but should also know about Ethical dilemma which teaches that what is
wrong and what is right? What things should be discussed and which ones should
not?
According
to Ethic and rules, first of all, the principal and already available staff
should welcome the new employee and he or she should not make an employee
uncomfortable by asking questions related to the previous job which was left.
Secondly, nor should the employee discuss anything with his or her colleagues
and not even with the boss no matter what sort of questions they ask. (Biesta,
Gert J.J. 2006).
This
is natural that whenever a new employee enters in the new school or any other
organization and start working there, the boss becomes curious a bit about the
previous experience. Obviously, the employee knows each and everything about
the previous job and he or she can reveal many of the things to the new
principal. Many schools are in competition with one another and each of them
wants to be on the top. First of all, not all the information is being shared
with the employees because everyone knows that at son point some clashes may
take place and teacher can leave the job, as principal arranged a meeting and
asked few questions which have been answered clearly and explained each and
every point of it related to a previous job. But sharing of all the information
about the previous school and their projects with the new one is totally
against the Ethic rules.
Every
teacher should treat all the students equally, there are certain students who
perform well and teacher start treating them differently from other students.
This is a very wrong act, for the teacher all students should be equal and of
some students are not performing good then extra attention and time should be
given to those students. Teacher should be fair and above all honest only then
she can make his or her students a better person.
Whanau and Maori
both these words refer towards a family, family also plays an important role in
teaching a child and it is being said that at home children are the reflection
of their teachers while in school, students are the reflection of their
parents. As teacher plays a huge role in teaching a student, so should parents.
They need to take out time for their children and look upon their activities
and progress as well instead of just visiting Parents teacher meeting twice or
thrice. Learning is a part of life and there is no doubt in it that teacher
carries more than 50% part here but family also plays equal importance in
making their child a better person for the future.
Colleagues should be supportive: At
times, it happens whenever a new teacher joins a school, instead of helping
that new teacher there are many different colleagues that become rude and
harsh. They don’t share anything with them at all. This is completely wrong
that one should always help the new coming person and make him or her
comfortable in all the possible ways. Extra burden should not be put on their
shoulders. It requires time for learning and understanding. (Fitzmaurice, M. 2010).
Family support is essential: Family
members are the main support and backbone of the new teachers entering in this
field in early stages of this whole new procedure of shifting from one place to
the other. Therefore, new teachers rely completely on their family members for
giving them emotional support, sense making related to the culture and especially
telling them how should they just focus on their work. Leaving family behind is
not an easy task especially for the married women and it makes the female staff
tensed all of the time. They are away from their family members but they still
think about them all the time how will they manage and all. Therefore, family
needs to be supportive and helping too.
One
of the perspectives to uphold is that of ensuring each child is handles
individually. Each child has special interests and qualities and the ability to
add to their networks. Children are unique from birth with common, social,
semantic, social and monetary rights. Effective learning and instructing is
described by proficient choices that draw on particular information and numerous
points of view. Therefore, partnerships with families and networks bolster
shared duty regarding children's learning, improvement and prosperity. (Sutton,
M. 2005).
Another
perspective that is important is that of ensuring that there is democratic,
reasonable, and comprehensive practices in the teaching environment. This
places an advance value and a solid feeling of having a place for the children.
Such an environment fosters respectful, responsive and proportional connections
between teachers and children. It is therefore vital to youngsters' instruction
and care. Some teachers will essentially include play and relaxation within the
learning environment. These are very fundamental for children' learning,
improvement and prosperity. Nevertheless, research and practice-based proof
advise quality instruction and care. This is where the arising morals are very
much established through workable models that lead the activities to both
positive and negative impacts. It also allows various qualities, for example,
respectability, control and genuineness among others to apply them in everyday
lives for the children. Such morals impacts conduct and enable a child to
settle on the correct decisions. Where morals lack it will be extremely hard to
control life and act capably. It is to say that ethics cover a wide range of
activities and bear significance on indirect relations. That is why the morals
can't be overlooked in any social status, and it should be handled as a basic
thing that is rehearsed in the field of early childhood teaching. Through
morals training, the ministry of education has set a basic help to run the
framework easily. These set the norms of what's satisfactory and what's not
consequently securing the premiums of both the instructors and the children.
(Gunzenhauser, M., G. 2012).
Role
of ethics in the teaching field is not just important for the teacher or it is
not important that they should only learn the ethical rules but these rules are
also very beneficial and important for the students as well. Teacher plays a
role of mentor for the students and they spend most of the time with their
teacher, while spending time and learning things help them in adopting many new
things from their teacher as well. Ethics is not just important for the
educators only but they are equally important for the students as well.
Strategies which should be applied on
students for better learning:
·
Teacher should be as much creative as he
or she could be because in class every student has different kind of thinking
and way of learning. It is not important that if one or two students are quick
learners then others are also the same. So creativity can help the slow
learners in better learning. (Strike, K. A. & Soltis, J. F; 2004).
·
Activeness is another major part which
should be used by the teachers in the class. Being an active teacher helps in
knowing what is happening in the class. If teacher becomes lazy or lethargic
then ultimately class will start making noise and will not pay attention at all.
·
Behavior should be positive. Teacher
should not use inappropriate language in the class or else it will leave a bad
impact on the minds of students and will obviously try to copy their teacher as
well.
·
Teacher should ask as much questions as
possible related to the topic as it will make students alert and through their
answers teacher can also come to know about their learning and understanding.
·
Teacher should have a clear lesson plan in
the mind. He or she should know clearly that what things are supposed to be
discussed in the class and through which strategy or way.
·
With every topic try to quote examples
from the daily life as it will help in the better understanding to the
students.
Conclusion of Ethics
Being
a teacher is no less than a challenge with every passing day, it has been
concluded in this essay that there are certain ethical rules which should be
followed by every teacher for the betterment of their students and to make them
successful. Strategies are also explained in this essay which should be adopted
by every teacher. There is no doubt in it that every teacher has his or her own
way of teaching and the level of student also differs but the above discussed
strategies are the basic ones. Perspective that is important is that of
ensuring that there is democratic, reasonable, and comprehensive practices in
the teaching environment. This places an advance value and a solid feeling of
having a place for the children. Such an environment fosters respectful,
responsive and proportional connections between teachers and children. It is
therefore vital to youngsters' instruction and care. Some teachers will
essentially include play and relaxation within the learning environment. These
are very fundamental for children' learning, improvement and prosperity. Role
of ethics in the teaching field is not just important for the teacher or it is
not important that they should only learn the ethical rules but these rules are
also very beneficial and important for the students as well.
