Writing
a research paper can be very frustrating. It is one of the most important pieces
of academic writing which ensures the student of their degree. But writing a
research paper consists of so many obstacles. One of the main areas, where most
students get stuck is with the structure of the research paper. What actually
is the right structure for writing a research paper? The answer to it consists
of various steps and thoughts. Certain things are expected to be considered
while structuring the research paper. But before even writing the research
paper, there are two things that need to be focused upon that is the
organization and clarity of the ideas.
A
research paper is not something that requires something to be done within a
shorter word limit. It demands everything to be in-depth. Most often, students
get confused and unintentionally merge their ideas of the research into one
another. So, it is very important to focus on the organization of what you have
thought. To avoid any confusion, it is always better to organize your ideas. This
organization of thoughts is more effective when are paid attention before
starting the research and also once you have completed writing the whole thing.
This will give you a double-check of your research paper and you will be able
to give the best structure to your work.
Clarity
is something that should be the topmost aim while writing a research paper. If
the paper would not be clear, it would be impossible for the readers to get
what you actually want to convey and your hard work will all go in vain. It is
very important that the language you use while writing a research paper should
not be very much scientific as it would not be understood by everyone.
Structure of the research paper:
The right and basic structure of the
research paper is very simple to follow. Structuring a research paper is very
important because well-structured writing will be able to convey your idea
perfectly.
The first thing which comes on the
top while writing a research paper is its “title”. The title is the most
significant part of the research paper. A title tells the reader or foreshadows
for him that what is going to be discussed in the whole paper? For this
purpose, you need to make your title an interesting one because in this way
only, the readers will be attracted towards your work and will enjoy have been
written.
Then come the “abstract”. Abstract
basically is like a short summary of the research paper. It contains all the
jist of the paper. It tells what the paper is about, what is going to happen in
it, which theories have been discussed, which methods have been used, etc. Your
abstract should be very attractive and well written as it would make sure that
the readers will go reading the whole research paper.
Then we have the "table of
context". This table lists all the headings along with their page numbers
so it becomes easier for the readers to find certain things.
The introduction is the fourth part
of the structure of the research paper. The introduction gives the information
about your topic. It tells about the background of your research topic and the
objectives which you have been trying to put forward.
Then the “methods” being used for
completing the research paper should be mentioned. Doing research and making
notes about it is a lengthy process that demands many methods to be used it. This
section consists of the details about those methods and how they have been used
for completing the research.
Then the research paper demands to
give the “results”. In the result section, you should never make an
authoritative statement rather put it as you have explained and proved your
hypothesis. In the result section, your findings of the research are discussed
and the outcomes you received are explained.
“Discussion” is the next on the
list. In this part of the research paper, you need to discuss what you have
done so far and how have done it. Give the purpose for your results and why you
think they are authentic.
Then there are certain “limitations”
to each research. Your research paper demands those limitations to be
mentioned, as it will help the reader to understand the barriers more clearly.
The end part of the structure of the
research paper is the “reference list” this list consists of all the
in-citations you have taken your work from and added as a reference in your
research paper. This tells the reader that you actually have done your work
with proof.
“Tables and figures” are also
expected to be added in the research paper at the spots where most needed.
This is one of the basic structure
for writing a research paper.
