Essay on Reflection of Living, Learning and Working on the Web

Writing and publishing my work in the public domain has made me gain my knowledge more. The reason is due to before I wrote my work, I had to search the valid resources so that I could properly explain my topic. The topic that I had choose on my online writing was ‘Online Disinhibition Effect’ which is actually the loosening of inhibition, along with the social communications which are regularly present in face-to-face interactions. This circumstance typically appears during online interactions. The feedback that I got from the readers made me proud since this feedback has shown that my work was read by people. In addition to this, I also feel glad that they give me some positive feedback and suggestion to add some pictures in my writing.

In the context of pride or self-esteem that I got from this online writing experience, the basic principles of psychology have mentioned that this type pride or self-esteem that I have developed from my writing feedback is a positive one. The reason behind this is due to that feedback occurs when I have succeeded to publish my work and get positive feedback which, for me, made to improve my work. In fact, this positive self-esteem will eventually motivate me to grow myself better and better every day since I would be able to correcting my future work based on the feedback of my previous work.

There are two topics that I have been particularly passionate about and always want to learn more and detail about them. The two topics are:

·         The Future of the Web

I have been interested in learning more about the ‘Future of the Web’ since, for me, it is an exciting thing to acknowledge how the Web has been evolving throughout time. We can see from the situation when the Internet initially became an accessible thing to the public in the year of 1980s. At that time, people had to learn the basics of DOS coding and all of the information is available through educational institutes. However, along with the growth of technology, the Internet has also kept on evolving and introducing new phenomenon in almost every year. With the Internet of Things or IoT, people have been completely depending on the Internet on almost every single aspect of their lives. Then, there is also appearance of Cyber-attacks, Artificial Intelligence, until the launch of the 5^th wireless generation which known as 5G, which speeds up the mobile Internet. Getting my future career that related to the world of Internet would definitely my dream to be pursuit. The reason is due to if I could get a type of profession related to the Web or Internet, I believe I could get more knowledge and would be able to take part in the growth of the Internet.

·         Networked Publics

In the context of network public, I have been interested to explore more how digital media and technology have been evolving over time. For this reason, getting my future job related to this topic would be an exciting part of my life.

Learning on mainstream social media platforms is really effective for me, and yes, it has completely changed my use of social media. In past days, I used social media typically only if I have more time despite my academic schedules. In addition to this, mostly I would have just seen the posts from my online friends and nothing more. But learning on mainstream social media platforms is really a new thing that I really find interested. This is where I could get the real benefit of using social media to get more knowledge and more friends across the world. For this reason, I have a big expectation to keep in touch with this learning community after the unit.

My experience of working with a team using digital tools to communicate was:

·         Worked with 2 other team members on an Online Campaign for Australian Water Sustainability

This experience has taught me that using digital tools such as WhatsApp and Gmail is more effective than traditional teamwork. In fact, I have found it easier to share some relevant information to other team members. However, there is also a drawback from using only digital tools such as WhatsApp and Gmail, where it was more difficult for us to understand each other completely due to sometimes there were network issues blocked us. For this, we could have been done differently by using another alternative platform such as Skype Video conference to get face-to-face approach between one another, and thus, it might be easier for us to understand what other members were trying to say.

My plan to be ‘Live’ in the Web is definitely continuing to create and publish my writing content that would attract many readers. My purpose is to benefit both myself and also the readers from the knowledge that I share on Web. The benefit for myself is obviously from the research that I would do before I will write and publish my content on the Web. This is where I could fill myself with more knowledge from gathering the valid resources for my writing. On the other hand, the people who would read my writing would also get the benefit of knowledge that they might have been seeking.

Thus, I would surely change the way I have always been ‘Live’ on the Web by using my social media platforms, from only viewing and not much to do, into more effective activities such as online writing and then sharing my online writing on my social media, get the feedback to improve my knowledge, and get more friends from whole over the country as well. This type of ‘Live’ on the Web would be more exciting, useful, and valuable for me. In addition to this, I believe that this way would also support me to pursuit my dream future career which related with the Web or Internet things.
