Assignment on Ecological study in Oman

Category: Earth Sciences Paper Type: Assignment Writing Reference: APA Words: 1050

Introduction of Ecological study:

The ecosystem is not just a word, but it is a community of all the living organisms as well as non-living components of their environment as well as non-living components that in result, interact as a system. All these biotic, as well as abiotic components, are linked with each other through the energy flows and nutrient cycles. Ecosystems are completely controlled by external and internal factors both.

The ecosystem doesn’t just consist of one thing, but there are four different kinds of ecosystems, which are forests, deserts, grasslands, and tundra (that includes freshwater animals as well as marine animals both). At times word biome is also used for the description of terrestrial ecosystems that extend towards a large geographic area like tundra.

In this assignment, Oman is the area of study.

Description of Ecological study:

The Sultanate of Oman is considered to be the third-largest as well as the most diverse country in the Arabian Peninsula. Oman is a homeland to more than 1200 species of plant, 509 of the marine species, 988 fishes, 89 reptiles, and 93 of the mammalian species.

The geographical situation, along with the biological diversity of Oman, provides favorable conditions for agricultural purposes. Different kind of Agricultural lands is completely dependent upon the fertile lands which are present near the coastal plain. The fertility of the soil is expected to deteriorate after the process of successive cultivations depends on the single or the double system of crop rotation.

Oman is a place having mountains and mountains as compared to the plain areas. In Oman, there are two different kinds of recognized diversity in the mountain Arid and monsoon.

Floral of Oman is not that good as this is a place having mountains and coastal areas. Therefore, vegetation and plantation in that area are not that good.

The topography of Oman is somehow different from other areas as it consists of three different kinds of divisions like Coastal plain, mountainous range, and last but not least, one is Plateau. The coastal plain varies in the width starting from 16 km, where the mountains start descend up shortly towards the sea.

Oman has many geographical settings and archaeological sites. There are many lagoons in Oman which have become a popular tourist attraction. On the Jalan coast, which is 180 km in length, there is a pink lake that has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years.

Long term strategy related to the agriculture of Oman completely based on the achieving of different goals:

Developing the human resources and the capabilities along with the skills of people living in Oman to keep up with all the technical development as well as management of the different variables that take place in all this technical development.

Encouraging the private sector that is being characterized by the efficiency that will enhance some of the common policies and the strategies among the private sector and the government as well.

Doing an ecological study is not easy as it requires a lot of effort and hard work. It is not just an effort of a single person, but it is a complete effort of different people or groups of people that brings upon a certain report. With the passage of time, ecosystem changes, and so does their studies. We just can’t rely upon a certain report being done once and think that it is quite enough, but such studies vary from time to time.

Ecological studies (benefits and ecosystem services):

In this section, the main thing which is going to be discussed is the list of different pros and cons related to ecological studies. Ecological studies are being done to know about the condition of a certain area and in this assignment, that certain area in Oman.

Pros of ecological studies:

·         Doing an ecological study is quite easy, as well as inexpensive.

·         Climate, population, and many other things vary from time to time, and as these things change, ecological studies also get changed. But still, after some time, previous data can be used for further studies related to ecological studies.

·         Presentation and analysis both of them are simple and easy to be understood.

·         A generation of new hypotheses can be done for further research.

Cons or limitations of the ecological studies:

·         Causality cannot be examined with the help of ecological studies.

·         Alternative or potential explanations cannot be tested.

·         It requires a lot of time and extra attention.

·         Many people are involved, and they need to remain focused on that particular task in the ecological study.

Conclusion of Ecological study:

In the end, I want to conclude by saying that ecological study is very important for any kind of ecosystem as it makes people aware that what is happening in the ecosystem where they are living. This study helps in bringing different kinds of changes as well in the future. Doing an ecological study is not easy as it requires a lot of effort and hard work. It is not just an effort of a single person, but it is a complete effort of different people or groups of people that brings upon a certain report. With the passage of time, ecosystem changes and so does their studies. We just can’t rely upon a certain report being done once and think that it is quite enough, but such studies vary from time to time. Oman is a place that is dry and hot, agriculture and flora are not very good as well in that area. This study was being done to make people aware of the geography, topography, and other things about Oman.
