The article
under analysis entitled as “Colonizing Black Female Bodies Within Patriarchal
Capitalism: Feminist and Human Rights Perspectives” is written by Akeia A. F. Bernard.
In the article, the author considered several factors related to issues and
challenges faced by black female bodies for colonizing under the human rights
perspectives. The main considerations of the analysis are mentioned below,
1.
The revolution of black female from colonialism
and white capitalist patriarchy is considered with pornography, colonies, and
pop culture of black and white women in the colonialism.
2.
Consideration for the respectable empire
3.
From colonialism towards the capitalism that is new
concubines.

6.
Body or Commodity—Not Both: Human Rights and
Sexual Rights
The main
interest of the author, as mentioned in his article, was not related to how the
bodies of white and black women were treated as hypersexualized. On the
contrary, the consideration was related to the popular culture, marketing
interpretation, and framework of human rights. The report shows that popular
culture interprets marketing bodies using the social science and framework of
human rights. For instance, Collins notes that exhibition of black women as an
animal is contemporary pornography. It means the domination symbol. When
considering the fact from colonialism to the white capitalist some asymmetric
sexual relationship is considered as fundamental oppression. Colonialism and
capitalism are considered for different ideology and structure. Both the system
of black and white are patriarchy, exploitative, and violent. During the age of
European perception, the black African bodies were loaded with ideological meaning.
At the beginning of colonialism bodies of women and Africans were linked with
each other at the beginning of colonialism. The problem of miscegenation is
considered about the European women, nature of colonies, and legitimate
children. To maintain the structure of imperial foundation the racialized
conditions are considered along with the exploitation of bodies of women. The
popular image is considered for the hypersexual black women and they were named
as lady under the colonialism. Some women including black and white women faced
decolonizing construction. Unlike the foundation of work, many women face
traditional issues such as black feminism and hip-hop feminism after having a
negotiation with females. The author considered black female scholar that was
aware of engaging in different work. The theoretical framework was considered
related to the foundational black feminism. The author considered details of
the connection between colonial legacy, sexism, and racism. The conventional
calls to eliminate discrimination was called by black females. They protested
discrimination and for their human rights. The researcher discussed an
important question regarding black female sexuality at the end of the article (Benard, 2016).
Discussion question
1.
What are the factors that demonstrate facts
related to the shifting of black feminism toward human rights?
2.
What are
the facts that broadly demonstrate the violence of black women instead of white
women?
3.
What are the violent colonial construction
conditions based on sexuality, race and gender?
