In Oman, Oman College of Health
Sciences is actually one of the institutions which prepares students in the
field of health sciences. It offers a number of courses to students and offers
a degree to only those students who meet the expected standards. In addition to
it, it is an institution that works under the supervision of Ministry of
Health. The institute is facing the issue of job dissatisfaction among the
staff and other workers and due to it, the job performance has decreased. This
issue has to be resolved as soon as possible to ensure that the staff is
satisfied with the job and meets the expected standards in terms of performance
and efficiency. In this paper, Oman College of Health Sciences will be explored
in depth along with the issue of job dissatisfaction. With the analysis of this
issue, some other studies will also be researched and this problem will be
viewed from different perspectives. At the end of the paper, the study will be
concluded and recommendations will be provided which can be considered by the
institute for improving the current situation and resolving the issue that it
is facing (Omanportal, 2019).
1.1 Background of Oman College of Health
Sciences and Job Dissatisfaction
As explained above, the college
is operating in the Educational Services Industry which is composed of
different institutes and establishments which offer training and instruction on
a number of subjects and disciplines. These institutions including training
centers, universities, colleges, and schools are either publicly or privately
owned. Educational services is generally recognized as a counter-cyclical
industry. Typically, it is when the economy is not performing efficiently and
there is a rise in unemployment. Due to it, people begin to invest their
efforts in upgrading their education. In return, this leads to increased profit
and higher enrollment at the schools. In this industry, there is an element of
growth as well. It has been reported by educational institutes that education
is desired by people who seek better employment opportunities.
In this industry, it is quite
important for the institutions to ensure that they perform competitively. And
this is not possible without the cooperation of employees or staff. In the
recent times, significant attention has been offered to the staff and employees
in colleges and institutions which offer education. Similar to organizations
and other businesses, large institutions also have to ensure that the staff
operates in an efficient manner. Without this efficiency, it is not possible for
the institutes to work effectively and meet the expected standards in terms of
performance.
When it comes to the college of
health sciences, it has been determined that employees are not satisfied with
their job and it is influencing the performance of whole institute. Before
determining the reasons of job dissatisfaction among the employees, it is
important to understand the concept of job dissatisfaction (Yarahmadi & Magd, 2016).
1.1.1Employee Satisfaction of Oman College of Health
Sciences and Job Dissatisfaction
It can be said that job
satisfaction is actually a set of positive feelings and attitudes of an
employee towards his work and responsibilities. These feelings are normally
produced by a range of environmental and functional factors in which an
employee works. If these functional and environmental factors are not effective
enough, they can cause the employees to be dissatisfied with the job and
underperform
It has been determined that there
are a number of factors which are associated with employee satisfaction. These
factors have a direct relation with the employee satisfaction and if these
factors are increased, it can serve to increase the satisfaction among
employees as well. Some of these factors include employee engagement,
performance appraisal, workplace flexibility, and a good pay. These factors are
capable positively influencing the satisfaction of employees.
1.1.2 Job Dissatisfaction of Oman College of Health Sciences and Job Dissatisfaction
The opposite of employee
satisfaction is job dissatisfaction and it includes only negative feelings
towards the job. If an employee is experiencing job dissatisfaction then it
means that he is not happy with his position or work that he is currently
performing. This parameter is considered quite important in organizations as
there are some factors associated with job dissatisfaction as well. It has a
direct relation with some factors as well and these factors include employee
turnover, organizational inefficiency, and lack of sales or progress. These are
some of the factors which are directly related to job dissatisfaction.
It implies that if employees
experience job dissatisfaction then it can serve to increase employee turnover
rate and organizational inefficiency. Both of these factors will be increased
with the increment in job dissatisfaction of employees and it doesn’t mean that
the organization will benefit from it (Jeon & Choi, 2012).

Research Aim of Oman College of Health
Sciences and Job Dissatisfaction
The aim of this research is to
explore the concept of job dissatisfaction in the context of Oman College of
Health Sciences. In addition to it, this research aims to analyze why job
dissatisfaction is being experienced by employees within the institute. This
research will not only shed light on the underlying reasons of this issue with
the use of SWOT and Fishbone analysis but also offer the recommendations which
can be considered for resolving the issue of job dissatisfaction among the
employees. Furthermore, this research contributes to the existing studies as
well because there are not many studies which analyze the concept of job
dissatisfied among the employees of Oman College of Health Sciences. Therefore,
researchers can utilize this study for understanding why job dissatisfaction is
experienced by employees. It can help them in developing their own studies (Wyk, 2012).

To explore the concept of job dissatisfaction in the
context of this institute.

To determine the underlying reasons of job
dissatisfaction among employees.

To apply SWOT and Fishbone analyses for determining
the underlying reasons of job dissatisfaction.
·
To offer solutions to job dissatisfaction which can be
considered to improve the current situation.

are the objective which will be considered in research.
