The United Kingdom is a developed country that has strong economic conditions and develops an effective relationship with other countries. Moreover, construction projects have also existed that have a great influence on the environment of the UK. Although, the UK is a developed country having modern technology their project-related practices are not enough efficient to maintain the environment and secure the resources for the future generation as well.  However, the issue of climate change is a significant impact on the country and to manage these issues Paris Agreement, conferences and COP24 have held to conserve the environment in a sustainable way. Different works of literature and case studies have discussed the impact of projects on the sustainability of the environment and which type of challenges are faced while balancing the use of resources. The research approach that will be used is deductive and the method is qualitative that provides the knowledge and information related to environmental sustainability to resolve the heating issue due to project management on the environment. In the UK, different agreements, conferences and parties are involved to reduce the temperature as reducing global warming as well. The conclusion and recommendations will explain what improvement can be done by the project management on the environment.

Nowadays, environmental sustainability is an important and current issue around the world. It is because the environment is going to be polluted because of anthropogenic activities and do not use non-renewable resources wisely. Moreover, the use of the environment during a project is significant and changes the environment in different ways like change in climate patterns, melting of glaciers and emission of greenhouse gases. Different agreements and conferences are also held to address climate change like in COP24 that was held among the different countries and prevent the environment from the interference of human beings that have a negative impact on the sustainability.

However, the issues related to the environment are increasing with the passage of time such as shifting climate patterns, global warming, and unwisely use of resources in the UK. Therefore, COP24 and other different conventions are adopted to conserve the environment and use the substitute that has negligible carbon foot and pollution into the environment. In the different regions of the UK, the heating system is introduced in a centralized way that is beneficial for the residential and other buildings without harming the health of the environment. The purpose of this research is to identify the sustainable practices that are used at a global and legislation to improve environmental sustainability while managing projects of different sectors in the United Kingdom. Moreover, to develop the understanding and role of different agencies, agreements in relation to improving the policies that maintain the sustainability of the environment through effective practices of project management.

The role of the construction industry is significant as maintaining sustainable development because it has a major impact on the environment in different ways like pollution in air, land, soil and water-related issues along with the social and economic condition of the country. The practices of sustainable development are slow because of different practices and activities within this industry. However, in this study different aspects are discussed of the construction industry in the UK and analyzing all strengths and weaknesses of this industry to manage the project that would not be creating issues for the environment. In the UK, different eco-towns are constructed like Bed Zed, Bicester and Owens town that are located in different regions. These towns are developed on the basis of sustainable development of the environment that has not a contribution to increases the heating issues (Bringezu, et al., 2017).

The impact of project management on the environment is significant due to activities of project related to construction. Although, in the UK eco-town are developed for the sustainability of environment some issues are still existing related to land, water, soil and noise pollution for the communities as well as the environment. Therefore, the responsibility of team management of a project is important that has the authority to align the activities of the construction project in the UK also consider the environment as a priority. It describes that there is a need to develop an effective decision-making strategy while planning a project by the manager of the project. According to research, the information related to project management and environmental sustainability is limited that defines the level of project management and improvement of the environment. In the UK, project management can drive improvements in the sustainability of the environment as design the eco-town in different regions of the country. The role of stakeholders is important as they are considered as the success factor for project management. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt the sustainable projects that have no negative influence on the health of the environment because of sustainable practices at the time of project implementation practices (Doppelt & Bob, 2017).

How project management can drive improvement in the United Kingdom for environmental sustainability. The variables of this research have a relationship with each other. However, it is explained that changing the approach and method of project management has a great influence on the health and sustainability of the environment.

The purpose of this research is to identify the factors related to project management and its impact on the sustainability of the environment of the United Kingdom. The aim of this study will discuss:

·         To analyze the impact of project management on environmental sustainability in the United Kingdom

·         To identify the factors that have a positive and negative impact on the environment sustainability

·         To determine the aspects of project management that will improve the environmental sustainability in heating issues through heaters in houses or any kind of heating element in the United Kingdom

·         To identify the challenges that have to reduce the improvement of project management as improving the heat-related issues in the UK.

 In this research, a methodology that will be used qualitative and deductive approach to determine the variables of this research. However, different pieces of literature, journals, report and case studies will also be used to collect data and provide the answers to the research question in a systematic way. Case studies that will use in this research define the different aspects of project management and how it will impact the environment. As conducting research, the practical implications will define the barriers, challenges that are faced by the managers that deal with the project regarding development and implementations to improve the sustainability of the environment in the United Kingdom.

Moreover, explanatory research types will be used that identifies the cause-effect relationship of project management and sustainability of the environment of the United Kingdom and other heating related issues through effective improvement strategies.

Therefore, it is a theoretical way to analyze those factors of project management on the sustainability of the environment in the UK. Hence, some findings, conclusions, and recommendations will be suggested related to project management that will drive the environment in a sustainable way (Silverman & David, 2017).

This research method is efficient as it provides the information, decisions and implementation related to project management and has an impact on the sustainable development of the environment. The use of secondary sources is effective as it provides the different perceptions of people towards the sustainable development and management of the environment along with practices related to project management (Glaser, et al., 2017).

Different people have different perceptions related to environmental sustainability based on the consumption, budget, anthropogenic activities, the various projects having different nature and their practices. Moreover, different case studies will be used to enhance the analytical evaluation of project management and how the environment is managed in a sustainable way. The use of case studies will be done during the study that will develop a good understanding of project management that is also related to environmental sustainability. These case studies, pieces of literature will define the different techniques, methods, and challenges that are faced by the researcher while conducting research. During studying the previous researches and papers in which different perspectives are used to manage the heating issues that are improved by the project management and maintain the sustainable environmental conditions in the United Kingdom (Schaltegger, et al., 2017).

Although, qualitative data is beneficial for research as authentic and accurate data is provided that will be helpful in research but some issues also faced while using this research method. It is time taking practices as design the questionnaire, then conduct a survey and finally take interviews from the respondents. The issue is that time is also limited for the research and most of the time are consumed during this process. In addition to, political issues, cultural and environmental aspects that are disturbed due to anthropogenic activities. As in the UK, people are spending a busy life, so it will be difficult to take time for an interview and collect data and their perspectives related to a sustainable environment. On the other hand, data is collected through previous studies that will develop a deep understanding of the research topic as well as analytical thinking to resolve the issues (Welford & Richard, 2016).

Ethics are important for the authenticity and accuracy of research. Therefore, it is important to conduct research in an ethical way and maintain a position in the education sector. In research, participants are allowed to perform according to their will and do not force them.  It is necessary for the participants to conduct the research in a systematic way and have clear directions towards the research. There should not be any ambiguity regarding research question, objectives and purpose.
