Abstract of How Project Management can drive Improvement in United Kingdom
Environmental Sustainability
The United Kingdom is
a developed country that has strong economic conditions and develops an effective
relationship with other countries. Moreover, construction projects have also
existed that have a great influence on the environment of the UK. Although, the
UK is a developed country having modern technology their project-related
practices are not enough efficient to maintain the environment and secure the
resources for the future generation as well.
However, the issue of climate change is a significant impact on the
country and to manage these issues Paris Agreement, conferences and COP24 have
held to conserve the environment in a sustainable way. Different works of
literature and case studies have discussed the impact of projects on the
sustainability of the environment and which type of challenges are faced while
balancing the use of resources. The research approach that will be used is
deductive and the method is qualitative that provides the knowledge and
information related to environmental sustainability to resolve the heating
issue due to project management on the environment. In the UK, different
agreements, conferences and parties are involved to reduce the temperature as
reducing global warming as well. The conclusion and recommendations will explain
what improvement can be done by the project management on the environment.
Introduction of How Project Management can drive Improvement in United Kingdom
Environmental Sustainability
Nowadays, environmental
sustainability is an important and current issue around the world. It is
because the environment is going to be polluted because of anthropogenic
activities and do not use non-renewable resources wisely. Moreover, the use of the
environment during a project is significant and changes the environment in
different ways like change in climate patterns, melting of glaciers and
emission of greenhouse gases. Different agreements and conferences are also
held to address climate change like in COP24 that was held among the different
countries and prevent the environment from the interference of human beings that
have a negative impact on the sustainability.
However, the issues
related to the environment are increasing with the passage of time such as
shifting climate patterns, global warming, and unwisely use of resources in the
UK. Therefore, COP24 and other different conventions are adopted to conserve
the environment and use the substitute that has negligible carbon foot and
pollution into the environment. In the different regions of the UK, the heating
system is introduced in a centralized way that is beneficial for the
residential and other buildings without harming the health of the environment. The
purpose of this research is to identify the sustainable practices that are used
at a global and legislation to improve environmental sustainability while
managing projects of different sectors in the United Kingdom. Moreover, to
develop the understanding and role of different agencies, agreements in relation
to improving the policies that maintain the sustainability of the environment
through effective practices of project management.
Literature Review of How Project Management can drive Improvement in United Kingdom
Environmental Sustainability
The role of the construction
industry is significant as maintaining sustainable development because it has a
major impact on the environment in different ways like pollution in air, land,
soil and water-related issues along with the social and economic condition of
the country. The practices of sustainable development are slow because of
different practices and activities within this industry. However, in this study
different aspects are discussed of the construction industry in the UK and
analyzing all strengths and weaknesses of this industry to manage the project
that would not be creating issues for the environment. In the UK, different
eco-towns are constructed like Bed Zed, Bicester and Owens town that are
located in different regions. These towns are developed on the basis of
sustainable development of the environment that has not a contribution to
increases the heating issues (Bringezu, et al., 2017).
The impact of project
management on the environment is significant due to activities of project
related to construction. Although, in the UK eco-town are developed for the
sustainability of environment some issues are still existing related to land,
water, soil and noise pollution for the communities as well as the environment.
Therefore, the responsibility of team management of a project is important that
has the authority to align the activities of the construction project in the UK
also consider the environment as a priority. It describes that there is a need
to develop an effective decision-making strategy while planning a project by
the manager of the project. According to research, the information related to
project management and environmental sustainability is limited that defines the
level of project management and improvement of the environment. In the UK,
project management can drive improvements in the sustainability of the environment
as design the eco-town in different regions of the country. The role of
stakeholders is important as they are considered as the success factor for
project management. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt the sustainable
projects that have no negative influence on the health of the environment because
of sustainable practices at the time of project implementation practices (Doppelt &
Bob, 2017).

Environmental Sustainability
Research Question of How Project Management can drive Improvement
in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
A research
question is defined as the concise and focused question on which research is
conducted through different processes and procedures. The research question of
this study is that:
How project
management can drive improvement in the United Kingdom
for environmental sustainability. The variables of this research have a relationship
with each other. However, it is explained that changing the approach and method
of project management has a great influence on the health and sustainability of
the environment.
Research Purpose of How Project
Management can drive Improvement in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
The purpose of this
research is to identify the factors related to project management and its
impact on the sustainability of the environment of the United Kingdom. The aim
of this study will discuss:
·
To analyze
the impact of project management on environmental sustainability in the United
Kingdom
·
To
identify the factors that have a positive and negative impact on the environment
sustainability
·
To
determine the aspects of project management that will improve the environmental
sustainability in heating issues through heaters in
houses or any kind of heating element in the United Kingdom
·
To identify
the challenges that have to reduce the improvement of project management as
improving the heat-related issues in the UK.
In this research, a methodology that will be
used qualitative and deductive approach to determine the variables of this
research. However, different pieces of literature, journals, report and case
studies will also be used to collect data and provide the answers to the
research question in a systematic way. Case studies that will use in this
research define the different aspects of project management and how it will
impact the environment. As conducting research, the practical implications will
define the barriers, challenges that are faced by the managers that deal with the
project regarding development and implementations to improve the sustainability
of the environment in the United Kingdom.
Research Type of How Project Management can drive Improvement
in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
The research type that
will use is the descriptive type that will be beneficial to describe the
concepts, knowledge and information of project management that have a great
influence on the performance and development of the sustainability of the
environment. Descriptive type of research will be efficient as all the
information is discussed in detail as encompassing all the aspects of project
management. Moreover, explanatory research types will be used that identifies
the cause-effect relationship of project management and sustainability of the environment
of the United Kingdom and other heating related issues through effective
improvement strategies.
Epistemology of How Project Management can drive Improvement
in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
It is the branch
of philosophy that describes the different sources from where knowledge and
information are collected. Additionally, it is also described as the chances of
probabilities and limitations while conducting research. There are different
sources of knowledge according to research philosophy. Moreover, it is effective as it identifies the
right type of knowledge that will be beneficial for this research. It also explores
the different and effective ways that develop a complete understanding of the
knowledge and information of the research. There are different aspects of
epistemology that are
·
Interpretivism
·
Positivism
·
Pragmatism
·
Realism
However, the
theoretical aspect of project management will not be beneficial as practical
implications are effective. Different organizations in the UK performing
different projects according to the nature of their businesses. The role of
project management is effective as it identifies what should be done and in
which way that has no negative impact on the sustainability of the environment (Alase &
Abayomi, 2017).
To manage the sustainability of the environment, manager of the project plays a
significant role as it planed all the activities of the project before the
starting of the project. Therefore, the use of interpretivism research
philosophy that will support the managers to decide as maintaining the
sustainability of the environment.
Research Methodology of How Project Management can drive Improvement
in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
A deductive approach is
effective in this study as it analyzes the impact of project management in the United
Kingdom on the sustainability of the environment. Moreover, with the
reinforcement of this approach, studies related to improvement in the
environment and the role of project management on sustainability will be
discussed. In this, data and information are collected to answer the questions of
research effectively. Therefore, it is a theoretical way to analyze those
factors of project management on the sustainability of the environment in the UK.
Hence, some findings, conclusions, and recommendations will be suggested related
to project management that will drive the environment in a sustainable way (Silverman
& David, 2017).
Research Method of How Project Management can drive Improvement
in United Kingdom Environmental Sustainability
The research method
that is used in this study is qualitative because it is an effective way to
collect information and data as conducting interviews and designing a questionnaire
for the target population. The data is collected through a secondary method in
which previous journals, pieces of literature, reports related to project
management that have a great influence on the sustainability of the
environment.
This research method is
efficient as it provides the information, decisions and implementation related
to project management and has an impact on the sustainable development of the
environment. The use of secondary sources is effective as it provides the
different perceptions of people towards the sustainable development and
management of the environment along with practices related to project
management (Glaser, et al., 2017).
Different people have
different perceptions related to environmental sustainability based on the
consumption, budget, anthropogenic activities, the various projects having
different nature and their practices. Moreover, different case studies will be
used to enhance the analytical evaluation of project management and how the environment
is managed in a sustainable way. The use of case studies will be done during
the study that will develop a good understanding of project management that is
also related to environmental sustainability. These case studies, pieces of
literature will define the different techniques, methods, and challenges that
are faced by the researcher while conducting research. During studying the
previous researches and papers in which different perspectives are used to
manage the heating issues that are improved by the project management and
maintain the sustainable environmental conditions in the United Kingdom (Schaltegger,
et al., 2017).
Although, qualitative
data is beneficial for research as authentic and accurate data is provided that
will be helpful in research but some issues also faced while using this
research method. It is time taking practices as design the questionnaire, then
conduct a survey and finally take interviews from the respondents. The issue is
that time is also limited for the research and most of the time are consumed
during this process. In addition to, political issues, cultural and
environmental aspects that are disturbed due to anthropogenic activities. As in
the UK, people are spending a busy life, so it will be difficult to take time
for an interview and collect data and their perspectives related to a sustainable
environment. On the other hand, data is collected through previous studies that
will develop a deep understanding of the research topic as well as analytical
thinking to resolve the issues (Welford & Richard, 2016).
Ethics of How Project Management can drive Improvement in United Kingdom
Environmental Sustainability
Ethics are important
for the authenticity and accuracy of research. Therefore, it is important to
conduct research in an ethical way and maintain a position in the education sector.
In research, participants are allowed to perform according to their will and do
not force them. It is necessary for the participants
to conduct the research in a systematic way and have clear directions towards
the research. There should not be any ambiguity regarding research question,
objectives and purpose. A participant should avoid plagiarism because this
practice will develop a negative image among other researchers. Moreover, it is necessary for the participants
to do proper citations and do not use confidential information without the permission
of the author or writer. It must be necessary to do research in an honest and
fair means and avoid all unethical actions (Quinlan & Christina, 2019).
