The author Patrice Hannon has given
a great elegy of the Lord of the Rings with its so many interesting elements.
The story has given a great feeling of terror, humor, as well as, heroics. It
is important to keep in mind that the story of the whole article is revolving
around a magic ring. The author has tried to give a new perspective on the
story by sharing his own thought process, which is also explained by giving
relevance to some other stories as well. It is quite a difficult thing to do
when different stories with different themes are being explained in relation to
one another. But Patrice Hannon did this job by relating the story with other
fictions, where things are always set in the past world, which is the world
with magical powers. The author began the analysis by giving an idea of how the
story has been elaborated by connecting the past with the present. For
instance, he talked about a fictional world, where Mr. Bilbo has been able to
vanish away with the help of a magic ring. No one ever saw him again, and the
author has also not talked about his mystery, where he has gone, rather the
story is stuck in the present birthday party.
It was nice to see that the author
has not jumped to any conclusion; rather he has mentioned things in a sequence
by keeping a connection so that readers can get the idea of his views. The
author did mention the work of other authors like the first mention was given
to an essay of Beowulf. It was an interesting concept developed by the author,
which revealed that everything in the Lord of the Rings was vanishing, and
diminishing. There were so many instances in the story, which showed that
people, farewells, locations, and places were seen for the last time ever, and
no one saw them again. The scenes in the story were based on the fading of so
many things in the present, but still, there was so much to talk about. The
author gave an interesting view that lord of the rings was full of so many
activities, adventure, and action, but all of this adventure was somewhat
ruined by the writer by reminding the reader again and again that this is part
of the past events.
There are stories, which don’t rely
too much on the past to discuss the present, but things are different in this
story, and the author has stressed his focus on this fact. He analyzed that
every present situation in the story has a shadow of the past. The other thing
which is evident from this article is that the author has felt that every scene
and happening in this story was based on the essence of sorrow. It is a fact
that victory can be an ultimate joy and success for anyone, but even when the
victory was discussed, it had an element of sadness. This kind of expression is
not commonly seen in other stories, which has been seen in this story. But
regardless of its expression, the Lord of the Rings book has so much to offer
to all kinds of reorders. It has so many elements in it to capture the
attention of readers. This is what the author has expressed in the last part of
his analysis that he read this book for so many times, and every time, he
experienced something new and exciting. The story is complex, set out in the
past, but still, it is one of the greatest tales ever produced by writers in
the history of literature (The Free Library, 2003)
