Research background of nebulizers

In this research study, 4 nebulizers were positioned in line at four different places within the pediatric ventilator. 4 nebulizers that were placed in line generates albuterol aerosols. During mechanical ventilation type of aerosol generator and ventilator circuit’s position play an important role in determining the delivery of the aerosol. In the study, lung deposition is compared. The study has provided brief information about albuterol delivery in mechanical ventilation (Berlinski & Willis, 2013).

Research methodology of nebulizers

In order to conduct the research different nebulizer were compared with each other. Two jet nebulizers were taken for the study. One nebulizer was a vibrating mesh and the other is an ultrasonic one. This comparison was made when the nebulizers were placed inside the ventilator, humidifier and at the Y piece. The nebulizers were operated for a different period. The nebulizers’ comparison provided a significant amount of information regarding their operation within the ventilator (Berlinski & Willis, 2013).

Research findings of nebulizers

The findings of the study show that vibrating mesh and jet nebulizers work efficiently and give the best performance in humidifier and ventilator. However, they did not perform well in the Y piece. Ultrasonic nebulizer performed well in humidifiers but did not perform well in the Y piece. The performance of the vibrating mesh nebulizer is way better than ultrasonic nebulizer and jet nebulizer when placed in a humidifier and ventilator. Lung deposition increases with the ultrasonic nebulizer and jet nebulizer. However, it does not increase with vibrating mesh nebulizer (Berlinski & Willis, 2013).

Conclusion of nebulizers

The performance of the vibrating mesh nebulizer is way better than ultrasonic nebulizer and jet nebulizer when placed in a humidifier and ventilator. Lung deposition increases with the ultrasonic nebulizer and jet nebulizer. However, it does not increase with vibrating mesh nebulizer. Most of the nebulizers work efficiently in humidifier and ventilator but not well in the Y piece.
