There are five steps of
Monroe’s motivated sequence (MMS) that are provided as well as explained
briefly in this document below. Monroe’s motivated sequence is a very effective
method to organize the presentation to obtain maximum effect. furthermore, the
presenter can use these steps to organize and make the presentation effective.
Step 1: Get Attention: The first step of
Monroe’s motivated sequence is the “get attention”. In this step, the presenter
focus to grab the attention of the audience. It is essential because if the
presenter will not grab the attention, then the audience will not listen to him
attentively.
Step 2: Establish the
Need: Establish the need is the second step of Monroe’s
motivated sequence in which the presenter must have to tell about the problem
as well as the must-have to convince how the problem is a big hurdle to perform
their works. Furthermore, the presenter should also convince the audience that
it is a significant problem and it must be resolved by any method to bring
improvements in their lives.
Step 3: Satisfy the Need:
It is a very important step in Monroe’s
motivated sequence because the main purpose of this step to introduce the proposed
solution for the problem. It also consists of new patents or any other solution
in which the presenter tells the audience how the proposed solution will be
effective to resolve the problem. Although, some examples are also provided that
satisfies the need for the proposed solution.
Step 4: Visualize the
Future: In this step, the presenter makes some
assumptions related to the problem and the solution and then he must have to
relate the proposed solution with the future. Furthermore, the presenter will
also describe the facts related to future problems that may arise if the people
will do nothing to resolve such problems. The presenter must have to try to
provide more detailed and visionary facts to create the desire to adopt the
solution. The presenter must also perform the three methods to share his
vision. The three methods are the positive method, the negative method, as well
as the contrast method.
Step 5: Action or
Actualization: It is the final stage in which every presenter must have to leave the audience on the specific things that if they will
be considering the problem effective on them or the environment then they
should do something special to resolve such kinds of problems. They will be
motivated in this last step by saying something motivational lines that they
must have to do something for the prevention of the problems.
