Literature Review of The Comparative Role of Interior
Design and Fashion Design in promoting Modern Trends
Interior
Design, many
organizations have included interior design in their area of responsibility,
the precise depiction and professionalization of interior design has followed
that of additional areas of design. Rowan Roenisch, Moch, and Hazel Conway
recommended that this could be because interior design refers to a lot of
diverse areas of design and involves the work of architects, they have a sense
of interior design, engineers, builders, carpenters, fabric designers, fine
artists, and furnishings designer. Historically, interior design has played a
marginal role in the educational chain of command in a field of the feminized
act and plays an inferior role in requisites of architecture. As explained
earlier, this special edition uses a broad definition of interior design to facilitate
the study of these interdisciplinary and linked relationships with fashion
design (Azuma, & Fernie,
2003).
In
literature history, the Development of Design that started in practices from
Australian Interiors, they examined the interior design in 1880 – 1900. At the
start, they also focused and examine the interfaces between fashion design and
interior design in a developing market. In the world of interior design,
Australia has a professional infrastructure that differs from legacy colonial
models. Penny Sparkes is the brand that well known. The connections between the
Developments of the Two professions in France and the United States in the
behind 19th and Early 20th Century - A Historiography investigation offers a
comparative analysis of the development of interior design and fashion design
as highly interconnected disciplines. However, when pursuing and developing
professional standing, the interior design world minimized it's
interdisciplinary and put more emphasis on its specificity. Literature
advocated that Nancy Vincent wrote, "Nancy Vincent McClelland (1877-1959):
Professionalization of interiors at the beginning of the 20th century",
Bridget May clarified the following: "A proper and well-recognized
definition of the expert which covers the necessary knowledge and fields for
examining a means of setting limits and responsibilities for proficiency and
military."In another place, Sparke distinguished that after World War II,
the interior design originated from Australia and as well as it has a
connection with fashion design, nowadays it has become a specialty of
professional design (Murphy &
Zabojnik, 2004).
The
fact that fashion and interior decorations are considered feminine work is an
ingredient of their union. They are involved in public representation, and
Penny Sparks confirms this hypothesis with some past and chronological order
for France and the United States in their donation to this special version. The
usually female fields of action and the put into practice of women's design have
only slowly gained professional recognition in other fields of design
(Lees-Maffei, 2008).
"From
2019 we will see how people use the fifth wall - the ceiling has been ignored
for too long! From wallpaper to shapes and bold colors, the ceiling will be the
place where people take risks and in their rooms a "Wow- Moment" to
create (Jacobs, 2007).
However,
all design terms include creative apparition or mental picture of concepts,
strategy and thoughts; and presenting these ideas (in the form of sketches, plans,
models, or prototypes) to give instructions for creating amazing that did not
survive earlier than or in that appearance. Aubert (1982) explained design as
"the heart of innovation, the moment when a new object is presented,
designed and shaped in the form of a prototype". Somewhere else, he says
that interior and fashion design introduces knowledge into the community fabric
(Aubert, 1985). Still, nearly everyone knows basic technical innovation must be
embodied in a form that can be used throughout the design process. However,
some new products are designed, in the beginning, but do not involve any
technical change. Let's take a look, for instance, the new design of an object
or a body, or a new model on a toaster or the arrangement of the wheel on a range
(Turker, & Altuntas, 2014).
Fashion
design has described as creating "non-innovative novelties" (Piatier,
1986). For every person, the concept of design is different, like different
people inside and outside the firm have different perspectives on design. The
designers can see their work regarding new fashion in terms of imagination and
creativity. Managers can examine the work of designers that are working for
their firm to make unique and differentiating their stuff from those of their
competitors in the market, prompting these stuff that people must like buy for
themselves during a slump (Rantisi,
2004).
For
consumers, the purpose of interior design can be the formation of new unique
styles, fashions, and descriptions. It improves the stuff as they feel relaxed
and easier to use, more durable or like energy-efficient; just to allow
something that was not possible earlier. Strategic management can see the
utility of design as an added worth; increase the competence of manufacture
when using resources and power and make higher proceeds. Some of these
differences lead to conflict: the fashionable might feel controlled by the
managers on commercial criteria. There is a well appropriate line between the
designer and fashion that teaches the client that what is beautiful and suits
them or not.
The
designer always stands between the customer and the producer. Literature
advocated that in the world of design and fashion Mangematin (2015) describes
how new customers are "attracted" by the manufacturer in a certain
class conflict than competing with each other.
Akrich
(1992) stated that interior design and fashion design illustrated user
depiction and how it is developed when designing a technological product, not
only by open techniques but also based on the fashion designer's personal
experiences and conception or we can say assumptions. Various authors made
similar scrutiny in their studies. This phenomenon applies mutually to the
details of the stuff purpose and to the general thought or design of which kind
of client is the aim for which type of manufactured goods. There are many
understood assumptions of designers about what works for certain client groups,
which may reflect both their biases and measured marketplace demand (Buhl,
1990).
Modern
Trends in Interior design and Fashion design
The
Danish Lego building toy is intended for boys and girls, although British
products (partially) competing with Meccano and Airfix were deliberately not
intended for girls before the company went bankrupt in 1981. Bureau is meant at
buyers (typically men) to a certain extent than actual users (typically women).
City centers are scattered with architectural disasters that were originally
hailed, as creative means of as long as mass housing for the operational class,
at least in part because the future users were the most recent to be asked
about their needs (McRobbie,
2003).
In
the fashion world, the way design or new styles are resolute by an inherent
interaction between style and regional ecological factors that have radically
changed to reach the governance of worldwide fashion free enterprise. The
occurrence that first appeared in the 1960s made fashion a form of
manufacturing goods. A great clothing company and electricity traders more and
more focal points to integrate the natural world of cost management and time
density through several modern operating functioning in the offshore developed
field. Due to diverse trends towards the regional level as well as the global
level the offshore supply series is more and more able to integrate the current
merchandising trend and thus deliver the stuff to the right put and
particularly at low prices (Fernie, 2017). Regardless of the homogeneity of
style creations resulting from this occurrence, the bulk of customers are
pleased with the improvement in the ease of use of way at affordable prices.
However, the outsourcing of fashion developed abroad by developed countries has
accelerated the style in national industrial zones, which are made up of a
large integer of a networked home manufacturer, in many countries. While
attractive in a supply area that is one of the sources of the aesthetic plan,
they are in danger with destruction in the face of such a great change in the
interior and fashion industry (Okonkwo,
2016).
There are various
trends in fashion design that are emerging nowadays.
Retrospection:
With
the significance of digital expertise and the life sciences growing in
importance since the early 1990s, attention in person natural world and the
unscientific aspect of the earth. The custom and inheritance handed down from
the start have been re-examined and their value rediscovered. The viewpoint of
Modernism looked at the past instead of carrying out innovative experiences. A
typical trend image of the subject "exam" is a combination of past
and current styles (McKelvey,
& Munslow, 2011).
Cosmopolitanism:
Cosmopolitanism has strived for global "universality" further than a
state or area. He has contributed considerably to shaping a global way of life
for global clients. With the growth and development of globalization, the
fashion industry has in use more and more care of dissimilar cultures and their
costumes. Such racially influenced styles were shaped based on borrowing from
the alternative style to pursue pluralism in the Fashion industry.
Major
Findings based on literature
In
the fashion industry, the one essential thing is to analyze customer demands
and companies focused on their customer's wishes and desires. Here is a need to
carefully analyze consumers' moving responses to the present fashion trend. One
of the majority important things in the modern industry for design and fashion
are to make happy the exciting demand of customers for a creation. Since the
start of the consumer-oriented market in the fashion world, the manufacturer
has had no option but to strive to forecast style trends as precisely as
likely, as these trends have viewed as a sign of significant change in customer
moving requirements for fashion.
As
the importance of the modern trend in the fashion industry and interior design
have emphasized in recent decades, it has to turn out to be necessary for style
corporation from all sectors of the current trends in the market to start their
manufactured goods development process for an innovative period to forecast
future trends. While when the trend has emerged as an important issue to take
into account for success in the fashion industry, it has developed an
eye-catching phenomenon called "trend diversification". One of the
distinctive characteristics of such a trend is that more than a few conflicting
trends must coexist in a similar period (Bhardwaj, & Fairhurst, 2010).
Results of The Comparative Role of
Interior Design and Fashion Design in promoting Modern Trends
The Random Sampling technique was used to collect the
data. 100 participants were selected to conduct survey research. There is there
the main objective of the research objectives of research work. The first
objective was to help to find out the effects of interior design in the modern
trend. In this section, the researcher asked the questions about inspirations
of modern trends for them. In the second objective some questions about fashion
trends and its effect on modern trends involved. In the third question, the
researcher asked about their inspiration for fashion and interior design. The
age limit of respondents was above 15 years because literature indicates that
these people have a more vast vision about fashion and interior as compare to
the lower age group. The questionnaire was very effective to attain the
appropriate results.
The instruments that we
used to attain answers have three main constructs. The first construct was
about the effect of interior design in promoting modern trends. The second
construct was about the fashion industry and modern trends and the third one
was the inspiration of fashion and interior designs.
Results of part 1: The
first question which is related to the interior design indicates the high
correlation between the modern trend and interior design. The first question
which was about the modernization of an owner reflects from its interior. 80%
of respondents said that they agree with it. 12% were neutral but 8% of
respondents answered that they disagree with it. The second question was, Do
you always conscious about your interior? 78% of people replied they agree with
it, 13% said that they have no idea about it. And 9% of respondents answered
that they are opposed to it. The third item was Do you agree people still
follow modern interior trends? 85% of respondents were in favor of it. 7% was
neutral and 8% of participants disagreed with it. Consequently, people
positively answered all three questions.

Result of part 2: The
second part of the questionnaire was about the effects of fashion design in
promoting modern trends. The first question was I always follow fashion trends.
79% of respondents replied that they agree with it. 10% was neutral and 11% was
against the item. The second question was my fashion makes me a modern person.
75% of people perceive that this is right. 10% was neutral and 15 people
replied fashion has no significant relation with modern trends. The third
question was, In my opinion, fashion-conscious people always be the modern
trend followers. 78% of people answered positively and agree with it. 10% was
neutral and 12% of respondents replied they disagree.
Result of Part 3: The
third part of the questionnaire was about the influence on fashion trends. This
part trying to identify how much people inspired and follow others. The eighth
question was about the effects of celebrities on fashion trends. 69% of people
replied they are always inspired by their favoritecelebrity’s fashion trends.
15% of people replied they are neutral and the other 16% said they disagree
with that. The ninth question was Do celebrities influence your wearing? 88% of
respondents replied they agree with it. 7% were neutral and left 5% replied their fashion does not influence
by celebrities. The tenth and last question was Do you think social media
influence what you wear? 89% was said that they have influenced by social media
fashion trends. 7% was neutral and % disagreed with it.
Discussion of Part 1: The
first part of the instrument was discussed about the interior design and its
effect on modern trends. The result indicated that there is a very strong
correlation between interior design and modern trends. According to the
different researcher, a fashionable and modern person usually make their home
interior styles. The survey indicates that people who have a good sense of
fashion also have a consciously good sense of the interior. This part provides
a very strong relationship between modernization and the latest and best
interior designs.
Discussion of part 2: The
second p[art of survey research indicates that more fashionable people, also
follow modern trends. A very strong number of respondents feel they always
follow new fashion trends. They also perceive that people who consciously
follow fashion designs or a new trend, they also promote modernization. Most of
the people indicated in question that, they take inspiration from their
surroundings.
Discussion part 3: The
third part is very interesting to survey the prediction. This part was used to
evaluate the inspiration for interior and fashion trends. the number of
respondents answered that they follow their favorite celebrities as the fashion
symbol. Celebrities always inspired them in what they wear. But as we are
living in the age of science and technology, so the number of people take
fashion ideas from social media websites. People showed in the research work
that they get fashion inspirations from their surroundings, from their favorite
personalities, and social media. In social media sites, there are a lot of
pages and blogs which provide awareness about interior and fashion.
Results: The
research study was conducted to analyses the Fashion is just not a determinedthe projected image of
theinterpreted good value to achieve some of function or program but rather a
reminiscent and refreshing idea and worthy enough to be depicted for society’s
gratitude that makes us even more instinctive. Modern trends are becoming the
status symbols in modern society. Modern trends affect a lot in fashion design
and interior design. The fashion design correlates between modern trends as
well as the interior design also has a very strong relation with modern trends.
the research indicates that people usually follow celebrities, social media and
the stylish people on their surroundings to being fashionable. The interior
design is now becoming the status symbol day by day they throw a very effective
and valuableimpression on others. So interior designing is also prompting the
modern trends and people follow it, dear, heartedly. The research will help to
analyses the further dimension of interior design and fashion trends. these
three indicators are very strong to perceive the evaluation process. We are
living in the modern era everyone is very conscious about its status and class.
Modern trends are becoming the status symbols in modern society. Modern trends
affect a lot in fashion design and interior design. The process to evaluate the
factors in evaluating the fashion and interior as the main and very influential
factors of modern trends and modern society. If you want to be modern you have
to be fashionable and your interior must be up to the mark.
