Palestine and
Globalisation
I hail from Palestine and if I talk
about my society, I believe that I belong to a conservative and middle-class
society. Globalisation has impacted my society significantly. In fact, it would
not be wrong to that different information and communication technologies have
been introduced which allow people to be connected with the internet and it has
served to facilitate what they were doing traditionally. For instance, one of
the major impacts of ICT or Information and Communications technologies is that
education has been digitalised and students are given the opportunity to gain
education without having to attend an institute. There are a number of other
impacts as well.
Education of Palestine and Globalisation
As
explained above, the sector of education has been impacted significantly by
globalisation in terms of ICT. There are a number of online platforms which
have been introduced that allow students to subscribe and choose the courses
which they require and are interested in studying. In fact, I have also
subscribed to a platform and I have selected a minor course which I undergo in
my spare time. These platforms also offer specialisations as they have been
authorised by the government. Students who want to gain a proper degree can
also subscribe to these platforms without having to attend any type of
institute.
Another
way in which ICT has influenced education greatly is that it has allowed
teachers to utilise innovative methods to ensure the knowledge acquisition of
students. For instance, in Palestine, there were not sufficient resources to
conduct online sessions and create assignments with the use of a desktop
system. Instead of it, students had to do their homework by hand. However, in
recent times, it has changed and students have been introduced to advanced
methods of studying and gaining education. These methods have served to
facilitate them and have made it easier for them to study without having to
excessively depend on their instructors or teachers. Therefore, my society is
now able to utilise these opportunities to grow (Shraim & Khlaif, 2010).
Business of Palestine and Globalisation
Another major way in which
globalisation has influenced my society is by impacting the business sector.
For instance, ICT has served to open not only new opportunities for people in
this society but has also allowed them to find the right opportunity for them.
Now, people can conduct online business without having to worry about its
success. For instance, I am extremely interested in being an entrepreneur and I
want to open an ecommerce business in Palestine. This was not possible just a
few years ago and with ICT technologies, I do not have to worry that my
business might not succeed. In addition to it, people can rely on ICT to be
involved with online businesses and earn without having to go to offices and do
traditional jobs. All of these opportunities and new areas have been opened by
ICT in my society. Therefore, I can easily say that my society has been
positively affected by globalisation in terms of ICT and people can take
advantage of it (Khatib, 2013).
