Deforestation is the clearance and
removal of the forest and trees from the land. Forests provide benefits to
human being in so many ways. The economic, environmental and social benefit of forest
supports the idea to grow more trees and plants to promote forestation in the
world. Somehow, currently, the deforestation trend is quite common in the
world, particularly in developing countries. From 2000-2010 deforestation percentages
in European countries was recorded as 0.07% and 7 lac hectare per year. Deforestation
can bring negative changes in human life-style (Chakravarty,
Ghosh, Suresh, Dey, & Shukla, 2012). Considering the
importance of forests and planting, present work will elaborate on the effects
of deforestation along with the causes and reasons for deforestation in the
world.
Causes and Effects of Deforestation
In this section causes and effects
of deforestation are mentioned.
Causes of Deforestation:
A number of factors and reasons
are supporting deforestation in the world. According to a research article
written on deforestation, major causes of deforestation are the expansion of
farming land, logging, and overgrazing, wood cutting for fuel, fires, mining,
and urbanization. Increase in population is also a key factor that encourages
the development of cities and the expansion of residential areas. Moreover, to
fulfill needs of the human being in daily life like providing furniture, wood
to fuel, and paper manufacturing all support deforestation (Chakravarty,
Ghosh, Suresh, Dey, & Shukla, 2012). In the villages and
underdeveloped areas wood is still in use to heat rooms and surrounding in
winter seasons.
Wood is also in use to create
rooms for cattle and ranching. In the Philippines and Amazon, mining for
uranium, gold, and coil is also an important cause of deforestation. In Central
America, Thailand, and Philippines dry forest are in use as fuel wood. Expansion
of farming land in tropical forest is quite common. In agricultural counties,
60% of deforestation is because of the expansion of farming land. Burn
agriculture and slash agriculture are two common terms representing
deforestation for the purpose to support agriculture and farming (Bradford,
2018).
In many countries, farmers assume that
burning trees and feeding crops with this ash can support the nourishment
process in their crops and plants. Slash and burning forests are quite common
in Amazon and the Philippines.
Effects of Deforestation
Deforestation has an important
effect on the climate. Deforestation can be a cause of change in the climate
globally such as the decrease in the rainfall and an increase in the
temperature. Moreover, the absorption of forestation is 5% of per decade. Due
to day by day decrease in forests the cycle of carbon dioxide is also getting influence.
Moreover, the deforestation has a clear effect on society as well. The loss is accord ecologically because of
the deforestation. The forest provides the human with all possible facilities just
like the control over the flow of flood to treats the water in his best way. But
due to deforestation, all these services are also reducing to the alarming
situation.
The amount of tropical forests that are reducing each year is
extremely huge according to the new statistics. The ratio for the destruction
of forest indicates that may be in the future wooden products disappear. That
needs a serious action to control the deforestation. All these discussed points
show the loss of economy (Chakravarty, Ghosh, Suresh, Dey,
& Shukla, 2012). In addition to that, the animals
living in the forest are also affected by the deforestation and they have to
face so many severe conditions. The decrease in the forest leads to a decrease
in the availability of food, a shelter for the animal. So, it clearly shows
that effects are deforestation are very alarming and it can have severe bad
impacts on various aspects of human and animal lives.
Conclusion on Deforestation
The whole
discussion concludes that the deforestation trend is resulting in an increase
of several problems in the society. Forest is really important for a healthy
climate, agriculture, and economic development of a country. Several causes
including urbanization, wood fuel, fires, wars, slash, and burning agriculture,
expansion of farming land, and wood used in the manufacturing of daily use
product support deforestation in the world. Negative consequences of deforestation
are related to economic loss, climate changes, prevention from floods, and animal’s
husbandry. The analysis presents that there is need to take control of this
situation in order to make the environment safe and healthy for all living
beings. Forest management authorities and Environmental regulatory authorizes
should take effective actions regarding this situation.
