Sometimes, it is hard to explain
inner feelings in words to give it true meaning, but at least we can try. So,
this is what I am going to do here. I may not be able to express everything,
but still, I will speak my heart out to give my opinion on this prompt. First
of all, I can’t thank enough the Government of Ireland for giving me this great
opportunity through the International Educational Scholarships program to study
in this wonderful country, which is so different from my home country, Yemen.
When I was looking for a country to get a scholarship, then there were few
things in my mind. I want to study in a country, where I can learn and speak
English; I can interact with new cultures along with meeting great people and
then introducing myself to modern culture. So, when I got this opportunity to
study in Ireland, I did not think for a second to make my decision, because
Ireland has everything, which I wished for.
My
belief was more strengthened when I came here and started my studies at the
Waterford Institute of Technology. I loved the culture and people of Ireland,
which is so modern and open-minded allowing everyone to explore their
intellectual and physical capabilities. I always wondered how I would settle in
an English country, as I don’t have a great socio-economic background. I belong
to one of the remote areas of Yemen. So, it was quite difficult for me to
adjust to a new modern country. But when I came here, and made new friends, as
well as, mingled with the culture of Ireland; I came to know that I am not a
stranger here. The love and warmth of Ireland are so gracious in so many ways.
I have been able to learn so many things in this period, which I have spent in
Ireland, and I wish to have this great learning culture in my country, Yemen,
where we don’t have enough facilities and opportunities.
The
war has destroyed our country and the future of your youth. I would like to
carry this relationship with Ireland to inspire more youth from my country to
work hard in their studies and get a scholarship here. I would love to see more
people from Yemen to come here and see the beauty of Ireland. To promote this
relationship between the two countries, I will remain in touch with my family
and friends back in Yemen. I will keep providing useful information about the
scholarships provided by the Government of Ireland, and how they can get one of
them. I have a personal aim to stay here in Ireland after my studies to enter
into my professional field, and then bring my family to Ireland too. I will
keep spreading the message of love and peace, which I have received from
Ireland. I will also keep giving my views loud and clear so that students all
around the world, especially the students of Yemen can listen to my views, and
they can push themselves to get this great opportunity, which has changed my
life in so many ways. I will continue to do, whatever I can to build a strong
relationship with Ireland in every possible manner.
