Diversity in the families is now
becoming a trend and it can be impactful for the children and parents. The
diverse family trend and the family structure such as extended families, solo
parents as well as divorced parents, can have the positive impact on parent and
the children. This type of family structure trend assists diverse people and
families to know each other and to learn about the family structures, their
cultures as well as their cultural values (Harry, 2002).
In the solo parenting as well as divorced parents may also have the positive
impact on the growth of children that the children and parents may be prevented
from clashes. The main positive impact of trend of family diversity is that
children will be protected. Furthermore, the positive effect of this trend is
that the parents with a child with disability become more accepting and
tolerant. In simple word, the members learned to become more accepting the
behaviors of the people and diversity. The main advantage of having the trend
of diverse family structures is that different families in a community will
accept everyone with their values and give them respect. So, the trend of
diverse family structures can also minimize the differences between humans and
families. In the context of effects on children and parent, the extended
families such as solo parents and divorced parents, the diverse family concept
give the awareness people to accept them as well as it also plays a good role
in better growth of children.
Having solo parents or divorced
parent has some noticeable impacts on children as well as parents in the
extended families. A solo parent or divorced parents may feel struck by having a
child after passing some time because growing a child for one person is too
difficult and it also can affect the mental growth of the child. Children
always seek the love of his parents but solo parents and divorced parents have
to spend time outside for work and the children especially at the age of 5 may have
some negative impacts on their health and mental growth (Anderson, 2003). Furthermore, the most challenging
thing for solo or divorced parents is that they may feel frustrated after some time
with work or a child that can cause mental illness of the child.
