Assignment on the Egyptian Music Syndicate Announcement

Category: Art Paper Type: Assignment Writing Reference: APA Words: 1000

The Egyptian musician’s syndicate had announced on Feb 16, 2020, that they have decided to stop giving further licenses to the performers and singers of Mahraganat. The syndicates of Egyptian musicians have a very strong reason to Stop giving musical licenses to the performers of Mahraganat is that the performer is giving promiscuous and immoral musical lyrics for their songs. Furthermore, Hany shaker (head of Syndicate) has explained this issue in Amr Adib’s talk show that he has taken a good decision to put some limits on this band because of our cultural, as well as religious values, are not permitting such kind of things. Further, he announced that the cancellation of their license is an important step to put some limits and notify other musical bands not to do or perform these kinds of steps. The culture of Egyptian society is completely based on the Islamic culture that is not giving freedom to make a new culture in which all men and women do what they want because many problems related to the society may occur because of promiscuous activities. The announcements on not giving further licenses have touched many larger issues in Egypt such as the actual and clear definition of morality and immorality, what role the government should play in censorship of music as well as other forms of expression. Due to this announcement, it is also seen that there is a heavy debate on this issue is that every person in Egypt has started a debate. Some of them are completely against the decision to stop given licenses to Mahraganat. On the other hand, people are very aggressive with Mahraganat and with those who are defending them because their point of view is clear and they said that they are following Islam as well as there is no any place in the society for promiscuous system because it can cause of spreading vulgarity in the country as well as in the society (Hubbard).

What Should be done about this issue?

The historical examination of censorship practice in any culture reveals particular censorship elements that have been applied as the protection form. The censorship plays a role to protect the children as well as to protect the communities such as women, weak souls as well as children from disturbing messages and the unpleasant things or contents in the videos and the music. Many people or elements in society play a role to convey a damaging and community breaking message. The censorship put some restrictions on them as well as the laws also they have to stop their activities to prevent the cultural damages (Kirkegaard, Järviluoma and Knudsen).

I have an opinion on this issue that the performers of the Mahraganat band have been restricted by the censorship board as well as from the government. The reason behind this opinion is that many persons have their perceptions as well as their likes and dislikes. Many of them think that the music is playing a role to entertain people as well as they also think that they feel fresh after listening to the songs. On the other side, some religious people exist in Egypt who dislikes the music as well as have the belief that the performers of the Mahraganat band should be banned permanently. But by looking at the current system in Egypt, it is seen that many singers are performing their services in the music industry but no one is angry about them as well as they also never demanded to restrict them or ban them (Stipp).

My opinion on this issue is that the censor board in Egypt should not permanently ban and canceling their licenses for the music. The censorship board should have to give them warning as well as they also have been put some limits on this on their working in the music industry because their immoral and promiscuous lyrics should be removed from the sources. furthermore, the censorship board of the music industry with the help of the government legislation related to the laws on music has to order them to delete their music and contents form the music websites as well as the music sources in the country (Darling‐Wolf). Every member of Mahraganat including other musical bands and groups must have also be restricted to making their music as well as video content. When they will be restricted as well as fined, they will know better that they should not make such kind of contents. So, every person in this world has the right to express his feelings as well as has the freedom to make the argument but some messages or contents should be restricted that can be dangerous for the community and the society other than banning them permanently.

Conclusion of Mahraganat

It is concluded that the syndicates of Egyptian musicians have a very strong reason to Stop giving musical licenses to the performers of Mahraganat is that the performer is giving promiscuous and immoral musical lyrics for their songs. Due to this announcement, it is also seen that there is a heavy debate on this issue is that every person in Egypt has started a debate. Some of them are completely against the decision to stop given licenses to Mahraganat. On the other side, some religious people exist in Egypt who dislikes the music as well as have the belief that the performers of the Mahraganat band should be banned permanently. I have an opinion on this issue that the performers of the Mahraganat band have been restricted by the censorship board as well as from the government. Every member of Mahraganat including other musical bands and groups must have also be restricted to making their music as well as video content.
