Accountability Theory, according to
Vance, Lowry and Egget (2015), describes how the perceived need and necessity
of justifying the behaviours of a person to another person causes him to be
considerate and feel accountable for the judgments and decisions that he makes.
This perceived need increases the likelihood and possibility that one will
think systematically and deeply about his procedural behaviours. Actually, the
accountability theory is quite broad it can be applied to almost every aspect
in UAE. For instance, other than just Information Systems, it can be applied to
the society as well.
In UAE, the rate of cybercrime is
high. There are hackers who exploit vulnerabilities in the infrastructures of
different organisations and they steal important information. This personal
information involves credit card information etc. Thus, it adversely influences
both organisations and people. The accountability theory highlights that if
people begin to understand that they are accountable for their actions and decisions,
and that they have to abide by the rules of government and answer to it, they
will be considerate of what they are doing. It would play an important role in
stopping them from doing crimes over the web and damaging the trust of both
companies and other people.
Solution Two Information System Research
In general, there are numerous
fields in IS which are relevant to United Arab Emirates. However, there are two
emerging fields which can be implemented in UAE for achieving both long-term
and short-term benefits. The first field is IoT or Internet of Things which can
be considered in the field of IS. IoT can be implemented by organisations in
their information systems by recording and providing the data which is needed
for improving their aspects and processes such as marketing. This data can also
be utilised for increasing sales and decreasing costs. Internet of Things can
be considered by firms in United Arab Emirates for obtaining insights which are
critical for improving various aspects of organisations. This can not only
benefit organisations by increasing their efficiency and it can benefit people
because firms will be able to customise their processes for meeting the needs
of customers in an effective manner.
Artificial intelligence is already influencing
the way customers seem to interact and communicate with businesses through
intelligent information systems. These intelligent processes are becoming
commoditised and incorporated into daily work. Actually, the largest impacts
across every industry from finance to hospitality and healthcare are
experienced when artificial intelligence seems to improve decision-making
speed, data security, employee training, and output. Companies in UAE can
employ artificial intelligence technologies in information systems for
utilising resources in a more efficient manner. In recent times, more and more
firms are turning towards AI for optimising their processes and information
systems for achieving more effectiveness and becoming more successful in the
market. Therefore, for organisations in UAE to become more competitive and
efficient, and compete with other international organisations, they can
implement AI in their information systems and interact with customers in a
better way (Pacis2020, 2020).
Part Two Information System Research
Blockchain
for the IoT: Privacy-Preserving Protection of Sensor Data published in the
Journal of the Association for Information Systems is relevant and also
important to issues associated with information systems in UAE. The main reason
is that new challenges are posed by the consistently growing domain of
connected and smart IoT or Internet of Thing devices for organisations
regarding privacy and security. It would not be wrong to say that the
widespread consideration and adoption of smart devices might rely on the
capability of companies to provide systems which ensure adequate integrity of
sensor data and sufficient user privacy.
The study on the blockchain for IoT is
relevant and useful for IST for constantly growing smart pool. Nowadays, the
use of IoT devices has been increased in UAE and it is the data of these devices
is vulnerable. The design theory which is proposed by the researchers based on
the sensor protection system for giving leverage to the certification of data. The
people of UAE are facing some difficulties in blockchain. The sensor data always
requires to become protected to sink and verified by the cross validation. The
technology of blockchain is offering several companies in the United Arab
Emirates the opportunity to give leverage their built-in recent works such as
cryptography for free that can minimize the need for the security specialists.
For organisations in UAE as well,
information systems are being revolutionised with the integration of different
IoT devices. Thus, they present complex challenges to firms in protecting the
information of customers. Regardless of every field, user privacy is considered
a critical aspect because without it, it is not possible to build loyal
customers. This study determines all the changes which are presented by these
IoT devices and also presents solutions that can be considered by organisations
in United Arab Emirates for making their information systems more effective in
protecting the information of users and making their processes more transparent
(Association for Information
Systems in Practice, 2020).
