After the difficult last three
weeks, BetAmerica Sportsbook is back online with all its features being
provided to the users. The company’s sports betting platform was hit by a
cyber-attack three weeks ago, and the platform was forced to shut down all of
its operations. Churchill Downs Inc. is a U.S casino, which owns BetAmerica,
and it was informed by them to their users that they will be online again to provide
all of its services and features. It is important to mention here that SBTech
is a sports gaming and betting platform, which is powering the services
provided by BetAmerica. SBTech got in trouble in March when they were able to
identify that a cyber-attack has been launched against them. This cyber-attack
was a ransomware attack, which forced them to shut down their data centers in
different parts of the world.
Due to this cyber-attack, BetAmerica
along with 50 other sports betting companies were forced to close their
operations because it was not safe enough to continue with the process. The
company started to investigate the issue to know how much damage has been done
by this attack. The company has not shared exact information with media
regarding this cyber-attack and any losses, which they faced. However, they did
tell that data of the bettors have not been compromised in any manner, which is
a sigh of relief for all bettors associated with SBTech. Some of the betting
companies were able to get back online after one week of the attack, but
BetAmerica was not able to do so until confirmation from SBTech. In a recent
statement published for its customers, BetAmerica has told its customers that
they are confirmed by SBTech about no loss or compromise of customers’ data so
they are resuming all the operations at normal.
