The
proper development to become a strong-minded person and a leader is not easy. A
leader should be able to inspire and empower the worker around him by standing
strong on their values and morals. As a graduate student, I was fortunate that
worked in an MBA program at a well-recognized university. I was always keen to
learn more and to improve my learning outcomes by having a positive impact on
others. The present work is mainly a reflection assignment of my learning and
development after the MBA degree program. The present assignment also contains
different pieces of evidence of my previous work experience during the MBA
program. The major contribution is to contain feedback from my previous work.
In the primary and secondary reflection demonstrate the gradual development in
skills over the period. In the primary reflection section, I learned about
behavior and performance development during the MBA program. The initial
assessment is based on the personal and business transformation module. The
assessment demonstrates a critical understanding of managing failure and
personal context.
Primary reflection on My MBA degree
My MBA program
helped me with personality development in the fine sense of social, personal,
and professional etiquettes. I learned new methods and techniques for social
and personal interactions. Exposure to excellent etiquette improved my learning
skills. The high-level credibility in the eyes of recruiters enabled me to
represent my skills. I am highly confident that I can influence my other
colleagues in a positive way. During my MBA, I gained more insightful knowledge
about the business on the perspective of the multi-disciplinary level. During
the course, I observed the holistic approach of the business and improved it by
having a consultation in the non-profit organization. I found comfortable
approach regarding different issues on the basis of various viewpoints, for
instance, controls, processes, finance, database management, customer relation
management, new revenues, strategic outline, and new revenues generating
avenues. The evidence about the team role report is provided in the appendix in
which I worked with a colleague during the MBA program. The knowledge gained by
all the relevant subjects in the MBA program has helped in to develop my
personality traits in a more effective way. Being a student, I have broadened
my perspective from marketing context to the initial sale functions of the
business. The MBA program offered me to deliver practical solutions for
real-life issues. The business planning, consultancy, and decision-making
skills are improved after going through different projects of MBA. The major
contribution of the MBA program was to encourage me to participate in practical
solutions to real-life issues.
Secondary reflection on My MBA degree
The
secondary reflection section includes insight into the events and experiences
that contributed to my learning. Before getting enrollment in the MBA course I worked
as an Intern in a local firm. Here I got several experiences related to task
management and people management that later contributed to my MBA learning. For
instance, I notice that people working in the firm were not fully satisfied
with their jobs and a number of workers left their jobs during my stay in the
firm. While taking Human resources management course and other management
courses in the MBA program I learned the reasons for job dissatisfaction.
Moreover, I also studied how an increase in job dissatisfaction can result in
an increase in job turnover in a firm. Basically, after reading theories about Management
by objective, overtime, incentive policies, employee’s satisfaction, and
organizational flexibility I learned that in the discussed earlier firm
employees were dissatisfied with their jobs because of over workload and poor
compensation packages. Employees were not given fair wages while managers were
taking extra work from them on a daily basis. Thus keeping this example into
the mind I was capable to understand the theories of management, motivation and
job satisfaction. Furthermore, previous experience also supported me to learn the
importance of auditing in organizations. During working as an intern I noticed
that employees working in the finance department were used to cross-check and
double check the financial details presented in the statements. While learning
finance and auditing courses I learned that how a single error or mistake can
bring changes in overall results and can cause legal consequences for the
organization. Moreover, I also learned experiences from conferences and
seminars conducted on the topics of business management. Knowledge learned from
these conferences supported me to understand MBA courses easily and
accurately.
Future intentions of Sustaining the business
In
the future, I believe that my holistic approach will enable me to understand
various business functions to improve my personality aspects in a more specific
way. I will be able to justify my actions taken in any situation, conflict
resolving process, assistance in different departments, identify the unjustified
actions in the department. I will be able to connect the processes of the
organization through an efficient functional strategy. My position in general
management would lead to improving the profit centers of the company. In
future, MBA program will assist me to reach a significant position in an
organization. The learning outcomes will improve my communication skills. I
believe, I will be able to learn more from other colleagues at my workplace.
Besides all the additional aspects, I have learned new methods to overcome my
personality issues such as anger and aggressive behavior.
Conclusion on Sustaining the business
The whole
discussion concludes that MBA program resulted in an increase in my knowledge
and learnings related to business management including human resources
management (HRM), leadership, and financial management. From the MBA program, I
learned information about negotiation and communication and its importance in
the business world. MBA program resulted in the improvement of my communication
skills, collaboration skills, and financial management skills. Summarizing the
secondary reflection section we can say that previous work experiences and
social events like conferences and seminars supported me to learn new theories
and concepts of management and financial management appropriately. Keeping in
mind experiences learned by previous knowledge I learned how incentives policy
and job satisfaction are really important to control increasing turnover rate
in the organizations.
