They provide fixed line, mobile and internet services to bring all of the people together along with providing the connectivity that helps in the support of the rapid development of Sultanate.

This company is being committed for providing the world-class quality services related to the telecom to all of their valuable customers. They have a huge experience and because of it they have introduced different kind of the innovative solutions along with the high quality networks and different economical and attracting pricing. (Maguire, 2010)

Different challenges being faced by Omantel Company

Like every other company, Omantel is the company that also seems to be perfect and well-organized from the eye of another company but in actual reality check this company also have number of different issues and challenges which the face on daily basis and the employees of this company try to manage them on daily basis according to their understanding level.

Industry structure and related challenges:

As given the low base of the population, telecom sector of the Oman stands highly relaxed having the 2 class-1 mobile operators, 3 class-1 fixed operators, 4 different kind of the international gateway licenses and many more like these and out of all them 3 are still considered to be in operational. (Al Yahyaee, 2016)

Apart from all this constantly growing telecom market in a country, there is a fixed line along with the internet penetration levels that are really below the regional averages. One of the biggest challenge for the company, fixed line penetration of Oman is 10.3% that is based on the population living there and 81% that is being measured by the different households. Fixed internet penetration of different services was 6.12% and it exceeded the limit, same is the case with the percentage being measured by the households that also exceeded the limit while the fixed line penetration was 48%. So this was one of the biggest challenge and to overcome this challenge the company struggled a lot and the impact of this challenge on the employees working in Omantel Company was much tiring as they had to work a lot and all the burden was on their shoulders. No doubt that this company really takes care of their employees along with their needs but when it comes to meeting the different challenges or overcoming them it becomes really difficult for them. Therefore all of the burden was on the shoulders of the employees. (Stalinska, 2018)

Another challenge for the company is the coming years will be the management of the capital allocation at a backdrop for the declining margins of profitability and a very good example for this is the 5G 5th generation mobile technology that is gaining popularity rapidly within days while on the other hand there are different operators that have not been able to recover their investments completely in the 4G networks. Impact of this challenge on the employees of the company can also be really difficult and tiring because obviously new staff would be needed according to the needs and if previous staff gets used to meet this challenge they really have to work hard day and night along with this they may also have to take different trainings that can be even more hectic for them to meet all of these things together. (Prakash, 2014)

In addition to the sectoral trends along with the general economic, this telecom sector of Sultanate’s bears the unique set of different kind of threats along with the challenges that include the limited market size, extensive framework of regulation along with the expanding list of different operators in a country. This Omantel Company is facing some continuous competitive pressure in the market that is already saturated. Different kind of the regulatory developments that include the liberalization across the different mobiles, segments of fixed and wholesale and the last thing is the new access along with the different kind of interconnection regulations that will keep on putting the pressure on the Omantel growth along with the margins that keeps on going forward.

Another challenge for the company is that one of the recent trend has been the shift of different operators from the hardware network based network equipment to the software network based function with number of different technologies like software defined networking SDN along with the network function virtualization NFV. These are the technologies that can help the company to manage out the different networks in a more efficient way and to be more responsive as well to certain changes in the preferences of consumers and to reduce the dependence completely on the physical hardware. Omantel Company at moment is not taking these technologies that much seriously and not thinking about it as well because the company along with the employees are busy in preparing for the 5G networking because they believe this is what customers are going to look out at first from them and expect them to launch first and to meet the expectations of customers they are working hard on the 5G networks and they have forgot about the other technologies that how they are important for their company because on one side if the 5G networking is important for their company than on the other side these technologies also play a vital role and they also needs to be implemented. (Sarrayrih, 2015)
