Reflection Paper on Movies are not limited to Cinemas or DVDs

Movies are one of the most important entertainment tools worldwide. This can be backed by the billions in revenue movies generate and the billions invested in them yearly.  Movies of different genre have different effect on the viewer’s mood and attitude.  Motion pictures or movies now come on different platforms with a far wide outreach than the olden times. Movies are not limited to Cinemas or DVDs nowadays but there are different online streaming sites and short movies on you tube. With the advent of internet the entertainment landscape has changed. Let it be a plane or your car’s back seat you have an option to watch a movie on the go and entertain yourself. Movies over the years have changed and developed into many areas and branches. Science fiction, Rom-com and many other genres are there to decide from depending on the viewer’s choice. In the olden time there was not this much variety available.  Online sites such as Netflix and other have given access of a large movie library to our home attracting viewership of all ages.  In this part we will be discussing about the Artifact reflection of the movie and the movie that I have a very strong association is “Me before you”, every person in this world have strong association with some media related stuff and it can be any movie, song or drama which brings flashback of the memories to them whenever they watch them and now it depends on them whether they have good memories with that movie or song or the emotional ones. Well I am going to share my Artifact reflection here on the movie “Me before you” which I have seen almost 4 years back with my friends. I was living in a hostel with my friends at that time. This movie got released in 2016 and we were very sensitive about such kind of cute little movies. Significance of this movie according to me is that this is a great lesson for everyone especially young teenage people as this movie is emotional, no doubt we all cried a lot while watching it but the message this movie gives is spectacular. This movies gives us a message that no matter what one should always be motivated and particular about achieving their goals in life and one should not change their choices just thinking about others around them that what might others think. No doubt people do matter a lot and we do have to make some of our choices according to their liking to some extent but we should not completely make our lives according to them. This is our life and we have a right to do things what we like. This movie gives me a flashback of great memories that I have spent in my hostel life with my friends. I still remember we were three friends and both of my friends came to my room to watch this movie together. We also arranged snacks to eat while watching the movie. We arranged some speakers as well because we wanted to have a full movie scene on weekend. This movie has a very strong influence in my life and it always being smile on my face and tears in my eyes whenever I watch this movie or think to watch it again. I like the movie but I like the Artifact or the memories that are being associated with this movie. I wish I could turn the clock back and live those happy and carefree days once again with my friends. Every phase of life has its own benefits and charms, we don’t get to realize at that moment that how we are spending time but once we get over that time and the memories become past and just memories we start missing them. This movie also reminds me of the friendship zone that how we all friends used to be so close among all of the tough times. I still remember as this is one emotional movie, at the end of this movie all three of us were crying like babies and we were trying to hide our faces so that next person don’t get to know how badly we were crying but obviously we all knew that the other person was crying.  We watched this movie late night while being one single bed and that was our full girl’s party night.

Mini-Rhetorical Analysis

Target audience is the young generation as they easily get influenced by others like how others behave and how they try to copy others instead of following their own goals. Everyone has their own life and their own surroundings, they should do what they feel like to do without thinking about others or their choices. They need to stay motivated to achieve their goals and aims in life. Purpose of this artifact along with the underlying valued are the same, this movies gives us a message that no matter what one should always be motivated and particular about achieving their goals in life and one should not change their choices just thinking about others around them that what might others think. No doubt people do matter a lot and we do have to make some of our choices according to their liking to some extent but we should not completely make our lives according to them. This is our life and we have a right to do things what we like. One is free to follow their dreams and another message that has been given in this movie is that we should always be helpful to others who are in need of help no matter whether that need is in the form of physical or the mental one. One should always encourage them and help them to bring back to life instead of running away from them and leaving them all alone. If you will do well with other then for sure God is going to help you in many ways about which one even can’t think about. So never ever discourage the feelings, motivations and emotions of other people no matter what. Always try to be helpful and supportive. Before watching this movie no doubt I used to be careful as this is my nature that I always try to help out other people in every situation as much as possible but after consuming this artifact the feelings got more strong in me and I started getting proud of myself. Another thing that I consumed or learnt from this artifact is that I was the person who used to get influenced by others a lot, who used to think about others before doing anything that what others might think about me and everything. But after watching this movie, things got changed in me as I learnt that people are not that much important as your choices and dreams are. Who are people? They are no one, they have no right to talk about your choices, likes and dislikes and we can’t be perfect according to everyone and we should not even do that endless effort because everyone don’t think in the same way. So instead of just thinking about others and their feelings I have learnt to keep going with my likes and dislikes, follow my dreams and achieve my goals. Yes here I don’t mean at all that people don’t have any value in their life, they do but to some extent. They should not be always present on your mind. This is how my values got changed after this artifact. The medium for my artifact here is a movie that is not so old, this movie got released four years back and as I already mentioned the name of this movie, it is “Me before you”. This is a very sweet and cute little movie, character list is not too much and the story revolves around two different opposite genders and the conversation that has been used in this movie along with the scenario, different sounds and imaging is remarkable and they clearly convey the message that is to help others at the time of need instead of leaving them all alone. The implied values and morals in this artifact are not complicated or difficult to understand, this movie is really simple and I believe yes the values and morals that have been shown in this movie clearly match with the audience and their thinking. There is nothing fiction or imaginary. It seems like a real life story that how things happen and how the bond or connection of love exists. There are some aspects about this artifact that makes it completely unique and remarkable which are, how an ordinary girl helps to make a place in the heart of a person that is disabled (not able to walk due to an accident in his life). She makes different efforts to bring that person back to life and in doing so they both start loving one another. On one side where the girl tries to bring that person back to life and on the other side that same man tries to help her out and let her know that no matter what happens in life, always think about your happiness, goals and things which satisfies you. They both play a positive role in the lives of one another and the way they help out each other is beyond amazing and is a great motivation for the audience as well. This artifact according to me didn’t break the mold completely, yes to some extent it did change the concept in me and my friends and the way of thinking but I don’t know that this cause a huge effect. This artifact according to me has accomplish its purpose very well, this movie has been suggested by one of my very close friend and same is the case with me. I have also recommended this movie to many of my friends and almost most of them had the same thinking about what I have mentioned that this artifact did change the concept of many people that one should always be caring and loving to others in the hour of need and if someone is fed up from the life we should try our best to bring them back to life because we can be the ray of hope for them and this is not less than a blessing. Along with this, artifact also motivates people to follow their dreams and goals what they enjoy doing or what they like to do.

 Reaction Reflection

This artifact has changed my life and my thinking to some extent, back in the start of university life I along with my friends were not that much ambitious in following our dreams and goals of life. We were busy in having fun and all like everyone do, we also used to think a lot about the people around us, our fellow friends and everyone around us before doing anything that what might they think if we do like this or if we do like that. We used to help others but not very much as we should. This artifact is the reason of me what I am today, it has changed my life along with my personality. If I look at the past before watching this artifact I was a different person but now if I look at myself I believe I am a different person. Now I enjoy being what I am without thinking about others and their impact in my life. I do what I believe I have to do or I love doing. I am also much helpful to the people around me and try to be their support however it becomes possible for me without thinking of any reward because I believe God is the one who is going to give reward of the good deeds and definitely he will one day. When I think about this artifact or have a glimpse of it in my mind, I also miss the time which I spent with my friends in my hostel life. I miss how we used to be all together in every situation no matter what. My memories are affiliated with this artifact because at the moment I saw that movie, I was not alone at all. I start getting the flashback of the time how we watched this movie full of emotions, cries and giggles. After watching the movie we had a long discussion about it and that was so amazing. We enjoyed every part of that night so whenever I watch this artifact or the post related to it, things start becoming different in my mind and it also brings tears in my eyes that how a small movie has given such a cute and short message that has changed the entire personality. My life is really different now from the past when I saw this artifact. Back then I was an immature person who was not taking things that much seriously, I used to think a lot about others instead of just my wish and happiness but now I prefer my happiness at the top instead of thinking about the opinions of others that what might they think. Based upon this exercise, if I could travel back to the time and become able to tell anything that would have been to help others as much as possible because this is the thing that gives satisfaction along with the happiness. Helping others in every sense gives relaxation from inside and I would also tell other people to help as much as possible no matter what the situation is and what the other person would feel about it. Just be with them because it can give them support, courage and hope. Other thing that I would have been able to do is just to follow my goals and to think about my likings no matter what the other people think or going to talk about. This is our life and we are free to follow our dreams and likes. No one has a right to talk about us. Plus the last thing that I would have done is to live my life once again with my friends, those carefree days full of laughs, giggles and memories. I would have enjoy it a bit more because those days I believe were the happiest days. If could travel forward and tell myself about something that never needs to be forget would definitely is to enjoy life as much as possible. Try to be expressive to others, helpful to others as much as possible. This life is not going you chance again and again to show yourself to others and to your own personality that who you are and what you are capable of doing. So I would tell myself to avail each and every chance from the life which it gives you without thinking about ifs and buts. Have fun and make your life memorable, be an example to others. You should not waste your life by staying quiet and spend it according to the decision of other peoples or according to their thinking as well. This exercise was more than a fun for me because I again get to know about the things that I was losing at some point, and in the future I definitely will tell others as well that try to be as much as communicative as possible to others because it helps in letting you know what others are going through and how you can help to bring them out by being a ray of hope or happiness for them. Things don’t remain same in all phases of life, some helps to stay strong and learn from them, some makes you really happy that you don’t want the clock to tick quickly but here I want to say that no matter what the stage of life is, always learn from every phase of the life because these small things can change life and can be a lesson for the lifetime as well.
