The
story is based on the character of a 14 years old boy named Gerald, living in
U.S. in a small house with his family. He is not based on the mind of such kind
that is based on the liking of driving and such different kinds of work on
routine basis. The story is based on the pregnancy of the teenage girl who is
afraid of being mother too early.
The
Motherfucker play by Roxane Gay revolves around the boy known
as Gerald. Gerald spends all his days accounting on reasons why he hates United
States. Gerald lives in a two bedroomed house with her sister and a cousin Eddy.
His father currently works in a deli counter. Although, he was a journalist
back in France. While, Gerald is only 14 years he hates several things. These
includes schooling, driving everywhere, weather, and people according to https://www.decompmagazine.com/motherfuckers.htm.My Mother’s abortion on the other side
concerns Dominica Phellepeta. Dominicarecalls
how she planned her abortion ordeal. She recalls she sort for means to secure
money in order to undertake this procedure. Fortunately, this filibuster was
successful after she sneaked in computer and had access on internet on health
facility offering abortion services.
She
was not happy to done with her abortion but she was frightened to be a mother
in the teenage and she could not handle the situation with being a mother of
child. Therefore she needs to get out of this trouble as soon as possible.
Gerald disgusts
everything. Hence, he is a vile character. For example, during his first day at
school he introduces himself quickly and sits down staring at his desk
hatefully. Not only that, though the teacher is very impressed by Gerald speech
where he coos him to say something in French.Gerald’s retards back although
seems irritatedPerrotta &Pitlor, (2012).Dominica
on the other side is decisive. She would do anything to maintain her
reputation. Dominica chose to commit
an abortion since she was given scholarship opportunity. This created drive on Dominica who believes inherently it was
not the right thing to do because she was expected to acts as a minority model.
.Again, she thought of herself different from other girls. Not only that, what
mattered most in her life is a husband and jobs and kids later.
Heritage
of the family is based on the history of the oppression in his family that
constructed a new heritage to reject his heritage. He fails to see the legacy
of the family and want to do better life in the personal matters. He accurately
represents the statement of heritage that is meaningless in the understanding
the situation. He has set himself outside her own history, rejecting his
real heritage in favor of a constructed
new one.
Dominica is
quite pitiful. She does emphasize with teen mothers who are denied seats. Dominica also adds that most mothers in
her school has wrinkles and crowfeet’s and expressionless faces which she would
not entertain in her life. Gerald on
the other side is stout. Gerald is not afraid of scorning other kid’s
motherfuckers. He is also not unmoved by his nickname which he retorts
boastfully “Yippee Kai Yay.”https://www.decompmagazine.com/motherfuckers.htm. Again, when the teacher confronts him on his
ascent he stands firmly and retaliates in French which leaves him impressed.
Not only that, Geraldalsocourageouslyapplies
cologne on his gift in order to make his classmates eyes water.
Both
Gerald and Dominica are contemptuous. They disregards everything that concerns
their hateful aspects. Dominica feels annoyed on teenage motherhood while
Gerald hates residing in America. Again, both hates thoughts of those
irritating matters and feels disheartened even more. For instance, Dominica
clearly states that her womb is not going to have blonde hair and blue eyes. Thesecontempt
attracts even more trouble. Gerald is given a harsh nickname that spreads
throughout the school.Dominica on the
other side is forced to sneak to computer lab in order to look for abortion centers.
Both
Dominica and Gerald are afraid of stigma, hence fearful. Dominica was afraid of becoming a teenage mother because everybody
would scorn her decision. WhileGerald hates
getting stigmatized in United States because he come from France. He is afraid
that Americans may impose racial discrimination against him which he definitely
gets at schoolhttps://www.decompmagazine.com/motherfuckers.htm.
Consequently, Dominica recalls how
she received the worst news in her life. Dominica
thought of herself different from other girls. Again, in Mexicans there are
no foster parents looking to adopt kids. As a result, one has to raise their
kids all by themselves except through the help of great aunties, grandmas, and
cousins. Hence, creating more urge to commit abortion in order to resume ones
education.
Geraldis
quiteopen. Gerald is willing to share
openly how he feels about America. He hates everything which is expressed
through her unwillingness to socialize and mingle with others. He disgusts
travelling and American weather (Perrotta &Pitlor, 2012). He appears
irritated when the teacher comments on her ascent. Contrary, Dominica is suite secretive. She raises
and borrows money all by herself. Again, she believes Bryce Day Academy gave
her scholarship and there are several Asian students perusing this chance. Thus,
Dominica opted to keep all things by herself because in case this information
leaks it will just get worse.
Dominica
mother seems guilty. She weeps the entire night after her daughter’s abortion.
This is a result of resentment because she has always sought for ways on how to
reunite her family. According to Motherfuckers,
Gerald’s father is quite economical. Although, he works at deli counter, Gerald’s
father avoids daily baths. He undertakes
ablutions on bathroom sink every morning and reserves luxury showers for
weekends. Eddy, Gerald’s cousin is educated. He is the one who explains to Gerald
how her HBO nickname means. Again, she does educate Gerald on English nickname
such as motherfucker which they use to scorn American schoolmates.
Summarily,
these two stories concerns vivid characters who disgusts their existing
heritage. Both are hateful of their community customs on abortion and accents
respectively. Characters advocates for means on how to liberate their cultures
from cultural customs set to intimidate some groups. Thus, both stories were
developed with cultural perspectives in mind.
