The
Lorax by Dr.Suess is a book that mainly focuses on the imbalance been created
in society by exploiting the natural resources around us. The learning of the
book is very much similar to the Marxist perspective who mostly talks about the
conflicts in society because of the misbalancing and negligence of authorities.
The story of Lorax contains a very meaningful lesson for the society, and it
also helps the people to understand how business and factories work and how
they are ruining the natural resources of the planet (LINDNER,
2016).
The
Lorax story teaches us to love the earth and natural resources that people have
today; otherwise, the times are near that our planet will be the same as the
one from which Lorax lifted away. It is very important for us to spend most of
our time among nature because there is nothing like this, processions cannot
bring the happiness to your life because they are temporary, and the real
happiness comes when people are healthy and lives and clean and natural
environment. In this paper, there is a
discussion about the story of Lorax about the Marxist theory and perspective
about the lesson learned in the story.
The
story of Lorax urges us to protect the natural resources if want to sustain
life on this planet. The time has come when there is a need for the people to
think collectively for the welfare of all humanity rather than minding their
own business. In the present era, people are consuming more good that they
ever consume in history and the people
are also unaware of the fact about the
different processes through which a product undergoes to be actually displayed
in the shelves of the supermarkets and the story not finish here, around 99% of
the consumer products becomes trash within 6 months, and most of these waste
material is not disposable under natural
circumstances (LINDNER, 2016).
Marxist perspective The Lorax by Dr.Suess
According
to the Marxist theory, the most important thing is the way the stuff or
products are produced. There should be proper implementation of laws and rule
for the production of the product, and it is also the obligation of the
governments to ensure that the product life cycle from extraction of raw
material from natural resources to the decomposing of the products. The
superstructure of society very much depends on how the stuff is produced and
distributed among the people. Marx states that who controls the whole
production resources is the one who controls the entire society (Benton, 2018).
Lorax by Dr.Suess examples
There
are many examples in the story of Lorax that makes us think about our exploitation
of natural resources and as a consumer, how all are contributing towards it. There
are two major characters in the story, one is Lorax who represents the
environment and the natural resources, and the other charters are Once-ler who
represent the corporations making consumer product by exploiting the natural resources.
In the story, it can be seen that the Lorax keep warning the Once-ler about the
environmental damage that his organization is making, but the Once-ler did not
bother about it because use things that are making the things that everyone
needs and his primary duty are to think about his business growth.
Like
the Once-let the corporations in the present era are the same, they are just
concern about the money and growth, and the environment is of no importance
near the. The environmental breakdown has already started, and now, it is
important for us to keep a check on our activities (LINDNER,
2016).
The story of stuff
In
the video “The story of stuff”, the whole life cycle of the product from
natural resources extraction to the decomposing is explained that helps a lot in
understanding different factors involved in the whole process that cannot be
found in the textbook. From the consumer point of view, the things are quite
normal and seem good but deep inside the system of production can be a bit
creepy, and it can be better called the system is a crisis. The production
system is directly or indirectly connected with the people in society, and the
whole system has a huge impact on society. From the past few decades, the
shopping and consuming the goods has become the primary purpose of the people;
now the people are working hard just to afford the stuff they are watching in
the advertisement.
Conclusion on The Lorax by Dr.Suess Marxist
perspective
Summing up the discussion about the Lorax
book, Marxist theory and the story of staff video, it can be said that the It
is very important for us to spend most of our time among nature because there is
nothing like this. The time has come when there is a need for the people to
think collectively for the welfare of all humanity rather than minding their
own business. Once-ler did not bother about the environment because use things
that are making the things that everyone needs and his primary duty are to
think about business growth. Like the Once-let the corporations in the present
era are the same, they are just concern about the money and growth, and the
environment is of no importance near the. The production system is directly or
indirectly connected with the people in society, and the whole system has a
huge impact on society.
