3. Questions
One of the greatest
advantages of emerging technologies is that they can be used to collect and process
large amounts of data with remarkable accuracy. Data-driven organisations leverage
the power of data and data analytics by conducting their business with more
efficient and accurate insights, and are therefore in a better position to provide
customers with what they want, provided the data they use is free from bias.
For this
activity submission, conduct small-scale primary research on an organisation of
your choice to find out how a data-driven approach can optimise the
organisation’s ability to initiate or advance a digital transformation process.
Use quantitative or qualitative research, or a combination of the two, to
collect data in order to answer the questions below.
When explaining
your research method, make sure to include your sample size. A sample only
including one source is likely to generate some biases in your data, so make
sure to collect your data from a sample that includes a few different
respondents.
Question 1
How do the
data processes in the organisation enable data to be turned into wisdom, and what
actions can be taken to optimise these processes to facilitate digital
transformation? (Max. 300 words).
Many companies rely on the data-driven processes as it helps them to
identify challenges and to have a decision that could affect their bottom line.
The most well-known companies that use the data-driven process for decision
making are Google, Amazon and Southwest airlines. The actions and decisions in
Google are largely based on the data. The company ensures that all the
decisions are based on data analytics. Google created the people analytics
department that assists them in collecting data and making better decisions.
They measure team performance from reviews and employee surveys. Google uses
data processes in the organization that turned into wisdom. Google tackles the
question of a good manager by creating a “Great managers award” to encourage
the employees. The nomination of managers is based on collected. The data
collection and analysis actions are based on the concept of optimization of the
process. these actions further facilitate in the digital transformation of the company
(Programs. online. utica.
edu, 2020).
Using the data process, google established eight behaviours for good managers
and highlighted three reasons for good roles. Google used all the collected
data to measure the traits and behaviour of managers. The well developed and
well-designed data processing technique conducted a survey and revised the
management training programs. Some eCommerce areas of google use typical data
for sales and profits. The steps to improve data practices in any organization
goes through the five important stages that are listed below,
1.
Improve
the data quality
2.
Develop
a link between different data
3.
Conduct
an analysis of your collected data
4.
Infuse
the collected data with theory
5.
Implement
the mentioned changes that keep track of all the outcomes
These
strategies can be used to improve their data practices and it could be
effective in solving the issues faced by many companies (Jachimowicz, 2017).
Question 2
What
type of leadership is necessary for the organisation to enhance a data-driven
approach, and how can the organisation develop this type of leadership? (Max.
300 words).
The business companies around the globe are working to implement AI, data
analytics and culture of data analytics for the capabilities and superior
decision-making process. the data-driven culture provide competitive benefits
to the companies for important decisions. Statistical survey of 2019, driven by
Deloitte concluded that 63% of the companies do not believe that they use data
analytics in an accurate way and 31% of the companies say they are using data-driven
strategies. The implantation of data driving strategies mainly depends on
leadership. The leadership such as CEO of companies are the operational
partners and they can improve visibility, prevalence, and scope. Leadership
knows the areas where data driving approach make differences with highly
differential results and minimal intervention (Windt, 2018). The leadership
abilities and attributes are important such as innovative, creative, and better-thinking
abilities of the leadership can make great differences. the use of data-backed
approach, training and development programs in the company require professional
development of leadership. The data-driven approach help in making processes
transparent and to remove arbitrariness therefore, it requires the leaders and
management with the balanced objective decision, relevant achievement, and specific
personality traits. There are different
methods to train leaders in an organization to reach the required ends. Before
training, it is important to ensure that they understand the relevance,
importance and sanctity of the approach. The best approach is to train them
with methodologies and tools. The training requires a fundamental understanding
of exploding quantities of data-based approach. The solid evidence of new back
up data is also required. The leadership must be able to understand customer
requirement, business orientation, information technology, streamlining
operations, analytical talent, and methods to invest in technologies (Cio.economictimes.
indiatimes. com, 2019). Some important and successful
transformations are required to drag the organization towards data-driven
future and these methodologies are listed below,
1.
Communicate
and explain the value of data-driven approach-based decision making to the
leadership.
2.
Quality
data assessment is required to secure and manage the critical resources before
making any alteration in the company.
3.
Employees
with skills to deal data analytical process are required to be hired in the company.
Question 3
Specify
which research method(s) you have used to answer the above questions and why
you used them. In your answer, explain how the results of your research have
informed your answers (Max. 300 words).
The data-driven approaches are developed in many companies and it is
based on how people search for the business and make a decision for the
improvement of the business. The approach uses data from different accounts by
finding ads, campaigns and keywords. The present analysis is based on the
survey conducted in literature. the access of companies and management is quite
difficult to collect data. For the present work, there were mainly two possible
approaches to collect data and extract solutions. The first approach was to
conduct research based on the survey questionnaire and these questionnaires
were supposed to be filled by the leadership in the organization. The second
possibility was to find results from previously done researches (Cio.economictimes.
indiatimes. com, 2019). The questionnaire method requires
access to the leadership for their views and how they implement a data-driven
approach. The literature provides a wide range of results and connection
between companies, business, IT, and innovation. The previous researches used
different roadmaps to lead results. The roadmaps use background concepts, new
concepts, and implementation of frameworks. The background concept used in
research literature was based on the data collection tools, methods, and
consideration for the mixed research techniques. The previously conducted
researches used a comprehensive synthesis of quantitative research and
findings. The findings are extracted from quantitative and qualitative
information. The array of quantitative and qualitative data provides findings
of the study and pertain correlated research techniques. Some of the important
typologies are used in the selected researches such as intrinsic case study,
real-time data collection, collective and multiple case studies, instrumental
case studies, and reports provided by companies such as Google. The results by
using these methods are highly accurate and precision level increases to
conclude (Study. sagepub. com, 2018).
