Threats of Operating Environment
In this report, we will study in
detail about the organization strategies which include planning and processes
and all aspect which lies on the business for this purpose I chosen an Omani
company which is named as "Oman Fiber Optics". This company works on
the construction and manufacturing of fiber world-class. This report is based
on the threats of environments which affect the organization deeply. The
elements of threats are Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive on the
operating system. An acronym is used to summarize these words Volatile,
Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive as VUCA. This is the first time
discovered by the American Army War college.
And the very first time used by the
Americans in 2001. VUCA is the more challenging and advanced threat for the
businesses in the operating environment. As there is only 18 percent of
companies in the whole global which are leading the VUCA. As its 21st
century, the leaders of an organization are facing dynamic change daily.
Business is the only field that is facing competition and challenges daily. As
new emerging people are coming with new initiative ideas that are giving more
profit to the company and efficiently reduce cost in the production of an
organization. VUCA is an acronym which has four threats itself. Every word of
it as Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive give one threat to
business.
As all the threats of it are less
complex but the ambiguous threat is more complex it doesn't give time to
re-think it just happen at once. In this report, we will study in detail the
VUCA and its threats to an organization in the operating environment. I also
discussed the methods of VUCA word management and dealing with it. Afterward,
in the last section, we assumed our company and discussed some steps to
minimize the effect of Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive on our
organization. There are simply four steps with a worth high in managing the
threats of Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive on operating
organization.
Background of The
Threats of Operating Environment
This company "Oman Fiber
Optics" was established in 1996 and early 1999 the Oman Fiber Optics
started production of commenced cable. The Oman Fiber Optic company located in
the Capital of Sultanate of Oman, in the Muscat. For manufacturing the
world-class fiber product, the state of the art technology is used by the Oman
Fiber Optic to draw and manufacture the fiber product. The company manufactures
all types of fiber optic cables for all the applications, fiber optic
installation, and fiber optic accessories and connectivity. The size of company
employees is from 201 to 500 (Pitchbook,
2020).
Volatile, uncertain, ambiguous, and competitive
environment:
The dynamic change is facing by the
leaders of organizations in this 21st century. The change is
unmatchable to the speed, the intensity, and the frequency of change rapidly
produced volatile, ambiguous, complex, and uncertain environments of operation.
For producing challenges in organization and leadership these environmental
operating elements rapidly changing in dramatic, conflicting, and relentless
ways. Rather than wasting resource on the incorrect identification of the
threat, every element describes the type of the change which can be identified
by the leaders to fight with the unpredictability of the environment.

knowledge by leaders.

process are interconnected due to it astonish changes occur.

In this century, according to the
study of different leaders which indicates that the leaders are facing these
elements as a great challenge. According to the search, there is only 18
percent of people who are leading these elements volatile, ambiguous, complex,
and uncertain of the operating environment. A leader needs to be ready for
competency which helps the leader in facing the changes which occur frequently,
high pressure, and ambiguous and uncertain operating environments for balancing
the opposite issues and conflicts calmly and maturely to thrive on the unknown.
For the preparation of leaders for these elements volatile, ambiguous, complex,
and uncertain of operating system needs analysis which takes place properly and
carefully of the situation and spends investment on the tools, systems, and on
the agile people.

The different research results show
that only 18% of total organizations are ready to lead with these elements as
volatile, ambiguous, complex, and uncertain of an operating system. The
corporate executive which are not ready to lead with these elements as volatile,
ambiguous, complex, and uncertain of an operating environment this lack cause
issues in the mental health, increase the stress level, due to uncertainty
organization have to perform poorly, the complexity, and confession which is
present in the environment of operation. The Omani company of fiber optics is
also leading in the readiness with such elements volatile, ambiguous, complex,
and uncertain of the operating environment (Rimita, 2019).
The performance of an organization is
quickly falling at the risk when leaders of an organization twist their hands
to do little and left. The elements Volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and
ambiguity or known as VUCA. This is a term that is truly dynamic and surrounded
by the technological advantage of transitory, fractured by markets, the
disruption, have competitors multifarious, governments are unstable, markets
are financially volatile, and consumers are fickle. Complexity and uncertainty
of special brands are derived by these each factor. Their impact when they
occur simultaneously is profound and complex.
The
growth history lies in the essential conditions which are only two.

you need to have new approaches, new skills, and behaviors. Set of challenges
represented by the VUCA which are faced by the individuals, the managers, the

responsible for my organization that how my organization is working. If we
increase the impact of VUCA on our organization then we will face a decrease in
the production of our organization. There are four simple steps in managing my
company by minimizing the impact of threats of Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous,
and Competitive of operating environments.
Steps in Overcoming Threats
These simple steps are vision,
understanding, clarity, and agility. In this situation when VUCA impacts our
organization or as precautionary measures we utilize the first step which is in
which our team, leader, or an organization will focus on the measure which will
take us closer to our goal which is the main point in minimizing the threat of
VUCA. As VUCA challenge openly to find your way.
The second step is understanding, as the
consumers or stakeholders send data by keeping ourselves up to date can help in
reducing the impact of the VUCA threat. The third step is clarity; this step
looks simple but has complex in some manner. A clear chat is needed with the
consumers as by clear covey of messages we understand the strategy of our
consumer or customer. the fourth step is agility, the last but the most
important and complex one, it provides flexibility like humans, making yourself
calm and flexile is more difficult. This flexibility provides a quick change in
our product. Make our product according to the demands of the consumer or
customer or stakeholder which is an essential point for fighting with the
threat.
This report focused on the threats
which an organization faces. As this is the era, in which is things are
changing daily also more challenging in every field but especially in the field
of business the leaders are facing more challenges and competition. The new
technology emerged by the American College of army war acronym as VUCA or
Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive. This technology challenges the
organizations to find your way. This acts as a threat to the organization. In
VUCA generally, there are four threats as Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and

the economics local by utilizing partners and local services owned (Bennett, 2010).
As this company is based on Oman it
manufacturing and design optics it provides cable optic solutions, the services
of laying cable, and trade the cables of optic fibers and provide solutions to
telecom. The solution of end to end is provided by the company, the company
provides construction of the cables in wide-variety, the cable variety,
services and accessories of fiber optic cable are offered. It also provides
cables in customized form for utilities of small time, LAN local area network,
for institutes cables for indoor or outdoor, networks of campus and premises.

The ambiguous impact is higher as compared with the other threats. The first
step of organizations is to manage VUCA by four different steps which are

In this report we researched the
different threats of acronym VUCA as Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and
Competitive. We analyzed the strategies to overcome the impact of threat VUCA.
VUCA is the four threats which deal with the operating environment of an
organization and affect it. If VUCA as combined and effect the organization
then it is very much difficult to deal with its threats. As VUCA is four
threats Volatile, Uncertain, Ambiguous, and Competitive each threat has its
causes and revolution. it is easy to deal with one threat at one time its
impact is not more harmful as compare to combine acronym VUCA.
In this report we discussed the
different strategy analyses to deal with the impact of VUCA as the strategies
are external analysis based and internal analysis based. These strategies give
us some tools to fight with the threat of VUCA. VUCA threats give opportunities
to the organization to find ways innovatively and creatively. As dealing with
an organization in the same manner and mindset to deal as with potential in the
future is just a joke neither than anything else.
In this report we discussed the
different steps which deals to manage the impact of threats on an organization.
There are only four steps and every step contains simplicity to understand and
implement. All the steps are simple and easy and beneficial for the
organization but the agility step is most important and have many worth. As
implementing the fourth step on the organization reduce more quickly the impact
of threat. As the fourth step contains flexibility. At the end we discussed the
role of government in minimizing the impact of threat on an organization. The
