Toyota motor corporation is a largest automobile
manufacturing company in the world that started in 1933. There are more than
600 subsidiary companies that are involved in the production of commercial and
industrial automobiles, and automobile parts. The headquarters of Toyota are in
Toyota city in east of Nagoya Japan. In
the present work the value stream mapping is considered for Toyota.
Steps
in Creating Value Stream Mapping of
the Company (Toyota)
Value stream mapping can be described as a process
items that flow through the value stream. for instance, in the manufacturing
industry value stream mapping consider material items, design, and development
of design items. In the service fields the mapping is used to fulfil the needs
of the external customers. the value stream system centers on the added
products and services that change the function and market of the services. the steps of developing value stream mapping
are listed below,

usually begins with mapping starting and ending point. Through this the
organization gets the idea regarding where the internal processes begins and
how they reach to the end. By doing this the organization gets the idea of the
whole processes which it performs for producing its vehicles. The map usually
begins from material deliver from suppliers and ends where the corporation
deliver its products to the customers.
As production processes of the organization are complex it maps each of
the process is detail in the map.

which are performed by Toyota Corporation in order to produce the vehicle. From
beginning to the end all the steps are going to be included in the map. In the

steps which are incurred in the production of vehicles. Some of the major steps

information flows from one department to another department. In other words the
organization indicates which person is responsible for delivering the
information from one department to another. Managing the flow of information
has huge significance for any organization because without effective
information flow success of the organization is not possible.
Collection
of Data of

The fourth step of
creating the value stream mapping in the organization is the collection of
data. the data which the organization needs to collect in order to create value
stream map are mentioned as follows:

All the detailed that is
mentioned above is required by the management so that the value stream map can
be created. The critical data is gathered by the team who create value stream
map.
Adding
Times Lines and data of the Company (Toyota)
In the 5th
step of the value stream map the team who is responsible for creating the map
in Toyota Corporation begin adding the information in the map. The information
which the team gathers in step 4 is now added in the map. Under each process
data boxes are added. Under the data boxes the timeline of each process is
included. This provides information about the actual time spent by the
organization to produce the product and the lead time which is required for
production of the goods. In this step all the important data is mentioned in the
value stream map.
Identification of waste of the Company (Toyota)
The value stream mapping of Toyota increase feature
and functionality without increasing the material usage and wasted time. Toyota
production system use VSM for the waste production management and the process
analyze material handling at each step. In the VSM of Toyota production system
the process uses typical material information, mapping and process mapping for
the management of the waste. The system use degree to which a process step can
be switched quickly and inexpensively. The VSM is a key of success for Toyota
production over the years. The ideal product information neve stops moving in
the system (Asq. org, 2020).
Development of Value Stream Map

The VSM template was originally created by Toyota
Motor Company and it was implemented properly through the process flowcharts
and material. The model allowed Toyota to reduce the previous working process
and activities. It allowed Toyota to remove all the nonessential activities and
helped in maintaining the manufacturing process. The value stream mapping of
Toyota adds functionality and features to the service and products that benefit
the company and customers. figure 1 below provides the example of typical
three-day VSM for the manufacturing process (Lucidchart. com, 2020). figure 2 below,
illustrates the product family by introducing them in groups of services and
members.

Conclusion of the Company (Toyota)
The value stream mapping in Toyota undergo through
four steps starting with determination of process family, drawing the current
state mapping, determination of future state map, and planning that arrive at
the future state. The VSM model of Toyota examine the matrix with the similar
and identical processing steps. For Toyota, it is important to find if there
are some similarities in the functions then group them together with the same
VSM team.
